When we were growing up (yes, Sharry, Diana, Madelon, Sherie, myself and many of the other  “moms” who are part of the Doll Diaries community), we had just a few kid-focused TV shows to watch – Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood are the first two that come to my mind. Mr. Rogers was a kind man who always wore a sweater and taught us all the importance of kindness to our neighbors and those around us. He ended every show with his famous question, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”

Madelon was kind enough to share this special day with me and in honor of Mr. Rogers’ birthday McKenna and Caroline have on their sweaters.

In the words of Fred Rogers:

“Imagine what our real neighborhoods would be like, if each of us offered as a matter of course, just one kind word to another person…
One kind word has a wonderful way of turning into many.”

You can learn more about the “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” Day and even download a PDF file with activities and ideas at www.fredrogers.org.

In its own way, Doll Diaries is its own neighborhood on the Internet – and it is my goal for it to be a place where doll lovers of all ages can feel share their hobby, learn from each other and to bring joy to others in the process.

Have you got your sweater on?
