One thing I am certain of when it comes to the American Girl doll collecting community is that once there is rumor of a new doll, they become very impatient for new information. We just want to know all the details as soon as possible.
For 2010 what we know so far, is that we are highly likely to get 2 new historical characters, Denise and Sarah. What we don’t know is if they are both historical dolls complete with the 6-book series and their own line OR if one of them is a friend doll who is going against the normal pattern and getting 6 stories instead of one. What do you think?
We don’t have much more info than that right now. We don’t know what era they are from or any book plots yet.
And in retirement news, if everything follows the pattern set to this point, Molly is the most logical choice for retirement this year. This has not been confirmed – it is just speculation.

i know that denise and sarah were popular names in the 1950′s
they retired samantha and added rebecca and now i notice that there only one decade away (1904-1914) maybe they’ll retire molly and get two new ones in the same tine zone???!?!?!?!?!?!

i bet that the next doll to be retired is Josefina. Becouse i don’t think they would retire Molly ’cause she’s from World War 2, or Addy becuase shes from a inportent time-period.
I think there will be a new ag ,blonde ,blue eyes .side ,bangs because if you look at the home picture with the new outfits the doll in pink looks like she has side bangs to me does it look like that to u ?

I hope that they are from the 1950′s, that would be cool. But it would be to close to Molly. And Rebecca isn’t a lot different from Samantha. Only a 10 year difference. I hope they are cute dolls.
Jill- I heard that they would be released February 22. I dought it, but I think American girl is saying less and less these days about new dolls.

I have a question: Why would AG retire Molly for maybe Sarah or Denise? Because they retired Kirsten. Plus, there is no doll to replace Kirsten. I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings, I’m just confused!
Ana: the doll replacing Kirsten isnt here yet and the reason why we r thinking they would replace Molly is because just like Kirtsen,Sam and Nellie Molly and Emily are up next in line. Now none of us r completley sure about who is up next tho

I agree w/ u Lena. The summer dress is just so ugly! It’s to big for Rebecca, the hat is too skinny and there is way to much fringe on it. It’s not my type I guess. I mean no offense to the people who do like it tho.
personally I kinda feel done with ag, maybe it’s that i’m 14, but i don’t like the whole “out with the old in with the new” idea ag lives off of, the act like even though it’s such a important doll they can still retire it, mattel just wants money, i miss the pleasant company days, pleasant rowland would never retire her original 3. So i’m done with JLY and GOTY and kinda historical (i will b completely once i get the 3 i still need to complete my historical collection) I have 11 dolls but the spark I got when I first walked into the american girl store in chicago when i was 3, it was amazing and I fell in love with it but now that it’s in water tower, and there taking away so many dolls I just don’t want to buy the new one’s cause personally to me there replacing a tradition, a very important tradition that is still inside my 3 year old heart.

Ok I am new but i know my american girl! What I think is meaning Sarah as in Sarah Moore from the Addy books might be 1 of the new dolls. But I do think Denise’s timeoeriod might be near where Kirsten’s time because Rebecca was near Samantha’s.

Oh, and I have to agree with the person who suggested that the girl loves the Beatles. I’m not much into 70s or 80s music, 90s is alright…but I loves Beatles and ABBA (grown up with them, my mum plays them all the time)
but I mainly love bands like Paramore, Blink 182, Linkin Park, Green Day…you know.

I’m thinking Sarah might be Addy’s best friends, given that that is her name in the books. As for Denise, I’m betting she is a more modern doll like Julie.
I actually think it will be Addy going next, her collection has been steadily dropping, much like Kristen’s. As for a Kristen replacement, Addy is sort of that, given that she is 1864 and Kristen was 1854. I was just sad that Kristen never got a best friend.
Erica, they only give dolls stories in years that end in 4, 1764, 1774, 1854, 1864, 1904, 1914, 1934, 1944, 1974.
What I really want them to do is to bring back the Girls of Many Lands line. They are like $300 used on ebay
