The Ty company has already ruffled our new First Lady’s feathers and they did so by introducing two new dolls in their TyGirlz line coincindentally named Marvelous Malia and Sweet Sasha. CNN reports that First Lady Michelle Obama is upset that the toy company is using private citizens (her daughters) as marketing tools, but the Ty company denies this is the case.
So you be the judge:
Are the Ty Girlz Marvelous Malia and Sweet Sasha inspired by the nation’s first little ladies or not? Is the Ty company out of bounds with this one or not?
I think that’s way too much of a coincidence. “Malia” is a very unusual name, and having dolls with the names of both First Daughters who resemble them has got to be a marketing strategy. I think Lady Obama has a right to be upset!

Well, IDK. Obama is the first black president of the USA. They’re definitely going to talk about him, which is great for marketing. Now, the smaller dolls aren’t a big deal. But, say, if they made BARBIE dolls for the first family? That’s going to stir up MAJOR trouble. Michelle has a right to be upset about it. I wouldn’t necessarily say the girls are private citizens, but yes, Michelle should be unhappy. They didn’t ask for permisson, DID they??

Jeez. Hannah Montana is quite a surprise. I’m not surprised that Nickelodeon would be live at the inaguration. Just family reasons. The family I’m living with is conservative. And the house that I grew up in with Zoe is liberal. As we got older, we molded into our family’s current stand. So, we’re on opposite sides of the spectrum of polotics. But that doesn’t matter; we still heart each other!

Um… they’re cool, but why the Obama girls? What about Selena Gomez? Like really, the girls are only like 10 and 7. It is a lil wierd for the dolls for the first kids.

I think that if they asked, it wouldn’t be so big. I read in the newspaper that thousands of people wanted the jackets Malia and Sasha wore to something( can’t remember). Ty has been doing this to tons of famous and not-so-famous girls.
