Doll houses for 18″ dolls is a very popular search on Doll Diaries – many, many crafty parents have made some amazing doll houses for 18″ dolls – but some parents would rather the convenience of a ready to assemble kit. Up until the past year or so, there have not been any options like that, but we are starting to see more companies create doll houses for 18″ dolls including Wicked Cool Toys who debuted their My Girl’s Doll House last year, completely underestimated demand and promptly sold out!

At Toy Fair this year, I was excited to see this product up close. Let’s just say it is BIG. Really BIG. But when you are creating a house for 18″ dolls, you need a lot of space.

Sorry about the shadows – the sun was coming in the overhead windows and there were all sorts of lights – it made it difficult to photograph.

The My Girl’s Doll House is a pine wood frame with MDF floors and walls. Once assembled (2 people are recommended) the structure stands 6′ tall, is 5′ wide and 2′ deep.  There are four rooms and an attic with a hanging rod. One other important feature it comes with is a wall safety mount. This allows you to anchor the doll house to the wall to prevent the structure from tipping over.

The My Girl’s Doll House does NOT come furnished – for display purposes, Wicked Cool Toys had 18″ doll furniture from Laurent and others in the rooms.

For 2014 there will be two styles of doll houses you can choose from – Country French and Sweet Bungalow. The difference is the printing on the MDF panels that are used for walls and floors.

Four of the rooms are the same exact size: 22″h x19.5″d, 27.5″w. The “attic” is 58″ wide, at its highest point it is 22″high and then tapers down on each side.

This was quite impressive to see in person and set up. Currently My Girl’s Doll House is sold out but they are in production now and spring inventory should be by May. The retail price for the entire thing is $299 and then factor about $50 in shipping. Total cost – $350 (ish). While you may be able to make one yourself for less, it is a great option for those who want to just get everything they need in one stop, assemble and let the girls start decorating their own house!

Not only are doll houses like this good for play, they are ideal for displaying a collection!
