It’s time for the first report from Toy Fair 2014! I am starting with Sophia’s Heritage – the wholesale side of My Doll’s Life. Cindy and her team are celebrating 20 years in business this year and I am so excited about the things they have in the works! In case you missed it – they were also recognized in my Toy Fair Superlatives list.
Probably the single most exciting thing I can share with you from the Sophia’s booth (yes, there is something else, but I can’t share it yet and it is SO COOL) is that they are now the official source for all licensed APSCA items for 18″ dolls. In other words they have teamed up with the APSCA and have created a whole line of doll sized animal rescue play sets. They have thought of everything, too – from the dog food and tags to the donation box and adoption certificates. Note, these are still the prototypes, but you can expect to see these later in the year.
A closer look at the dog bowl, dog toys, brush, tag and donation box. There will be accompanying girl sized donation boxes and information about how you can get involved in your community APSCA, too.
Aren’t they just so cute? The boy dog has a bandanna and the girl has a bow. There will also be cats added to the collection.
The packaging will look similar to this – be sure to look for the Exclusively Made by Sophia’s logo!
A closer look at the Adopt Me vests the dogs will come with.
I am so proud of the Sophia’s team for this initiative!! Not only is there tons of play value in this line, but there is the messaging for getting involved in the community, too.
Moving on! I am in love with the new polka dot modular furniture. There will be two sets – this one has the day bed, a sidetable/ottoman and a chair. You can arrange them in endless combinations in your doll’s space.
The second set is a sectional couch that has a corner chair and the sidetable/ottoman.
Year after year, Sophia’s continues to come out with new, trendy and adorable outfits for the dolls! They are affordably priced and mix and match well.
Every doll needs a rolling dress rack!! This set is already available and includes a decorative storage box too to hold tiaras, hair supplies and other small accessories.
Doll scrubs!! How adorable are these? Perfect for inspiring your up and coming doctors and nurses!
Sophia’s version of the concession stand is very versatile and fun! There are three different banners and the posts can come out so you can use the piece as an island in the kitchen, a craft table for the dolls, or a dining room table because the chairs fit on each end. This is one of those pieces that I consider to have endless play and display opportunities! Pieces like this are a great value.
Tea anyone? The one theme I really noticed with Sophia’s this year is PLAY! They had so many new play sets for the dolls – including every type of treat your dolls would like.
One of the bowls of yogurt and berries from the Ice Cream and Yogurt Cups set. The little Sophia’s napkins are so much fun.
Another look at the concession stand as a lemonade stand complete with the lemonade playset. Yes, that is a beach back drop – look for that later in the year along with a few more back drops they will be releasing.
As part of the focus on the play sets, Sophia’s has really raised the bar on the packaging of their playsets. It is beautiful!!
Look at this box!! It opens and has shelves built in so it can become a display piece and storage solution at the same time. Brilliant!
The lemonade set and many of the other food sets are already available (Lemonade Set in Keepsake box). The box when it is closed.
And then open it up to find everything you need for the lemonade stand or treats on a hot afternoon! You can keep the plastic insert in the box or take it out to store all your doll’s food and dishes.
They have applied the same concept to the other play sets like the hair care set. This set is an exceptional value – a 33 piece hair care set available for $31.95 – imagine the hours and hours of play your girls and dolls will have with a set like this.
And finally, this outfit is not new, but I just love the colors and had to take a photo of it!
The bottom line – Sophia’s had the most extensive selection of doll play accessories at Toy Fair! They have gone the extra mile to make much of their packaging serve double duty, too – which as a Mom – I just love.
Keep an eye out for another really big partnership announcement. Like I said, I saw it, but can’t share it yet – but you will LOVE it.
