Oh it definitely feels like spring today, so it is perfect that we are taking a look back at some retired American Girl Easter items.
From Shelby-Grace – Molly said she wanted to model the Spring Flower Outfit from 2001. We don’t have the sandals or the purse (I won the dress in an eBay lot) so we substituted with a ribbon tied like a headband and shoes from the Sweet Sugar Outfit from 2010.
The waist has little flowers sewn onto an elastic band. It has ruches from the collar to the elastic to add a little elegance to the outfit.
The “puffed sleeves” (Get the Anne Of Green Gables reference?) are made of seemingly different material than the dress, but is really the same fabric, just without the lining that the dress has. The ends of the sleeve are elastic. Thank you, Molly, for being my model!
From Sarah – Mia is modeling the Periwinkle Dress and Hat. The shoes, purse, and necklace are original to the set as well. It was released in 2000 and retired in 2003. It was my very favorite AG outfit as a child and I had the girl-sized one to match! Mia is also holding the Egg Hunt Accessories which were released in 2003 and retired in 2004. My favorite part of the set was the bunny ears for Coconut!
Kanani is wearing the Embroidered Party Dress which was released in 2006 and retired in 2008. It wasn’t specifically an Easter dress, but Kanani loves to wear it for Easter! Kanani also has the 2002 Easter Basket, which was retired the same year.
Madelon’s doll wearing the Flower Garden dress from 2007.
The theme for next week’s Throwback Thursday is American Girl ELIZABETH. Please send in any photos you have of Elizabeth and her outfits and accessories. Save me a few minutes by resizing your images to 540 pixels wide and email them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Put THROWBACK ELIZABETH in the subject line.
