A Colonial Girl gets ready…
It was time to get ready! She was so excited! Felicity paused in putting her good undergarments on, as she remembered she needed to wash up and brush her hair. She kept steeling looks behind her…to make sure it didn’t disappear. She had to keep reminding herself not to just stand there looking at…
Her miracle gown…and she was going to the Governor’s Palace after all! She had already changed into her good shift and white socks, tied her garters on over her socks, laced up her stays, and tied on her pretty embroidered pocket.
Next she put a new blue bow on each of her shoes and slipped them on…then tied her pearl choker necklace on…and then tied the pocket hoops around her waist.
Then, it was finally time to put on the elegant gown that was so like her doll’s dress.
Felicity carefully laid the overdress on her bed while she put the beautiful full skirt on. Because of the pocket hoops, she had to pull the skirt on over her head. Eek!
She easily pulled on the overdress, ever mindful of the long lace at the cuffs…
and fastened on the stomacher covered in white lace. She felt beautiful.
She twirled around and around!
Felicity turned back to the clothes press for some finishing touches…
She pinned on her matching lace-trimmed cap and looped the strap of a lacy fan around her wrist.
She slipped on her bright red cloak and white satin-blue trimmed muff (she left her mitts and pattens at home). Now she was all dressed up. She was going to the Governor’s Palace!
Thanks so much for sending this in, Paula! It is gorgeous!
