Throwback Thursday – American Girl Coconut

In 2000 American Girl introduced Coconut, a fluffy white puppy that was considered every doll’s best friend. Today we are taking a look at some of the retired Coconut items. Brace yourself for CUTE-OVERLOAD!!

The first 13 photos are from Sarah Kate – can I just say THANK YOU Sarah Kate – you are AWESOME!!

Here is Coconut with her original wicker dog bed, pretend dog biscuits, and rawhide chew toy, as well as her original pamphlet. The very first Coconut that was released in 2000 and came with the wicker bed and accessories did not have a magnetic nose. When I went to American Girl Place Chicago in 2001, they replaced my Coconut with the one released that year with the magnetic nose free of charge. That is why I have both the original dog bed and the leash that Coconut is wearing. To her left is the first version of her doghouse which was released in 2001.

Here are Coconut and Licorice modeling some American Girl Place exclusives. Coconut is wearing a Statue of Liberty ensemble from AGP New York and Licorice is wearing an outfit which is either from AGP NY or Chicago, I can’t remember which. The outfit in the middle is from AGP NY.

Here is Coconut in her bunny ears from the egg hunt accessories. I have the rest of the set too but it’s put away somewhere as I just bought the set for the bunny ears. Licorice is modeling the Tennis accessories which were released in 2005 and later retired.

Here is an assortment of some various other Coconut themed things that I had around. The puzzle in the back is from Hallmark, as is the bookmark, the necklace, and the two little stuffed Coconut keychains (I have the Valentine and Christmas ones). I have three of Coconut’s books – her puzzle book, her school book, and her “guide to life.” I’m not sure if these are retired but they looked nice in the picture. I also have the tee shirt from Coconut’s Best Friend Outfit which was released in 2003 and later retired.

Sophia’s Coconut models the Statue of Liberty set that was sold at the American Girl Place New York City. We bought ours in 2006. Does anyone know if they still sell this set at AGPNY?

Julia has the MINI Coconut that is also a store exclusive. He comes with the store exclusive PJ accessories. Isn’t he adorable? Again – does anyone know if this is retired or still available?

Madelon has Coconut’s Cookbook which was published in 2004. It is no longer available on the AG website, but you can find a few on Amazon.

From SuperSaige: Avalon loves Coconut and her BFF Licorice!
