UPDATE NOVEMBER 22, 2010: It looks like Julie: An American Girl Musical is in development according to a very brief page on the NYTimes site. Details we may have:

- Producer – Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas (the producer of all the previous American Girl movies)
- Goldsmith-Thomas Productions – Production Company
- HBO Films – Production Company

ave read multiple articles and have had quiet a few readers tip me off to rumors that the next American Girl movie will be about Julie and will be a musical.

At a recent press day for Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas confirmed that there are indeed plans for more American Girl movies in the pipeline.
The next American Girl to see her story make it to film? Julie Albright. “We are developing the Julie character,” Goldsmith-Thomas said, “and we’re doing her as a musical, as a high school musical.”
We’re going to have all those great songs from the ’70s,” she continued. “Julie: An American Girl Musical. It’s [set] in San Francisco.”
The movie is just in outline form as of now, so Goldsmith-Thomas was unable to confirm much more about it, but she did say the music will include both original songs written for the movie as well as music from the 1970s, and that they intend to do more open auditions like they did for Kit Kittredge. “Oh, you betcha,” she said.
This should be fun!

You are excatly right, Sara. People are judged by there appearence all the time. They’re either too tall, or too short, too thin, too fat. They don’t even get to know the person because of their first judgement.

I like the name Lila too. I was in a musical once and played a character with the same name. (the one actor kept saying it wrong) It’s so pretty. It’s an awesome name.
before i heard that ag was having a musical, i sorta figured it would be, and that it world be julie. so far there was an amgirl holiday, adventure,mystery, so i sorta figured it would be Julie Albright: An American Girl Musical. THAT has a ‘ring’ to it!

yea, Kimmie, Em, Clairedy-Cat, and Gracie are all JLYs. Emma Granger and Gracie Leigh are twin JLYs. They are blonde, have earrings, and blue eyes.

im auditioning 4 the julie movie, 2! i heard about it right after the kit movuie went into the theaters, so i’ve been a little wacko with excitement! lol. i really want the part of julie sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo badly. we look so much alike, that if i got the part, all they’d have to do would be give me colored contacts 2 make my blue eyes brown!
Does anybody know anything about the auditions? I really want to audition. Hopefully they’ll be OK with a girl with glasses, because I’m not ready for contacts and I’m severely nearsighted! That’s not my first worry though. My mom probably would not like driving to the New York American Girl Place, and I hope I’m not too old. But, I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.
