We will definitely keep you posted as we get more info!

I have read multiple articles and have had quiet a few readers tip me off to rumors that the next American Girl movie will be about Julie and will be a musical.

Here is a quote from Reelzchannel via the Complete Guide to American Girl Doll Collecting:

At a recent press day for Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas confirmed that there are indeed plans for more American Girl movies in the pipeline.

The next American Girl to see her story make it to film? Julie Albright. “We are developing the Julie character,” Goldsmith-Thomas said, “and we’re doing her as a musical, as a high school musical.”

We’re going to have all those great songs from the ’70s,” she continued. “Julie: An American Girl Musical. It’s [set] in San Francisco.”

The movie is just in outline form as of now, so Goldsmith-Thomas was unable to confirm much more about it, but she did say the music will include both original songs written for the movie as well as music from the 1970s, and that they intend to do more open auditions like they did for Kit Kittredge. “Oh, you betcha,” she said.

This should be fun!

  2. Missy =D says:

Yay! Since Ag makes a new video every 3 years…this one should some out in 2012! Can’t wait for it! I love musicals–not really crazy about 70s music but it’ll be okay. Julie is one of my favorite dolls! =D =D

  3. Lauren says:

I think they should’ve just made it a regular movie. Musicals can be annoying and takes away from the story. But I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

They said they will have more American Girl movies in the pipeline. I hope Addy is next!

  4. Amber says:

I hope they make a movie about Kirsten next even though she’s retired.

  5. Emily L. says:

This may sound really weird, but I want a “Forgotten Four” movie. Like Addy. Kids need to notice these cuties! :( Besides, if American Girl writes books, why can’t they make a movie? They got to be camerashy when it comes to slaves, but still. It helps children learn about their hertiage!

  6. Amber says:

I agree with Emily L. it’s not fair that only dolls that tons of people buy get movies every doll should get a movie.

  7. smartyg says:

there shuld b addy josephina kaya rebbecca and every one shuld hav a movie

  8. Hanna says:

I heard this a while back! But now, I can’t wait to see it! :) I just hope it’s good like the other movies.

  9. An American Girl Fan says:

I wonder if they are gonna have auditions!! :D

  10. Ana says:

Emily, who are the “Forgotten Four”?

  11. Mia says:

Did I just read “high school musical”? must be about her sister.

  12. Emily L. says:

LOL, Mia. Ana, the Forgotten Four are Joesfina, Kristen, Addy, and Kaya. Check out some videos on youtube. LOL, I’m on there right now! Listening to a Taylor Swift song actually. :)

  13. Ashleigh says:

    Oh but Happy Holidays!

  14. Audrey says:

You can’t get a big role at the open audition. The roles of the main characters will already be taken. However you can get a small part. They might even begin casting the main roles really soon, so don’t get your hopes up if you want the part of Julie, Joy or whatever.

  15. An American Girl Fan says:

Well, you are probably right about Julie, Joy, etc. Maybe I could audition for a schoolgirl/extra! :-)

  16. Ana says:

People! I got 2011 GOTY news! I found this out on American Girl.com: she loves to share the spirit of her tropical home. That does prove that she shares the spirit to everyone, not just her cousin.

  17. Danielle says:

The 2011 GOTY is going to be Hawaiian. If you want to learn more, there’s a Scoop about it on this site. :)

  18. Mara says:

ya Ana the scoop has her name and everything on it,OMG! on AG it says that Lanie shipping is FREE until the 12th of this month!

  19. Mara says:

ya you’ll probaly have to go to Hollywood or something your mom probaly wont let you my mom wont i keep asking but she always says no

  20. Ana says:

:D My grandpa had a Christmas party yesterday. I got Felicity!

  21. I can’t wait for it to come out
