My Twinn is Back
October 19, 2009 by Char · 40 Comments
The My Twinn The Just Like Me Doll (www.mytwinn.com) doll line has had quite a bumpy road over the course of its existence – most recently when its parent company, The Parent Company, filed for bankruptcy. A New Jersey company bought My Twinn at auction and resumed operations in early spring 2009 and moved to a new facility this summer.
In today’s mail I received true confirmation that the company is back – at least for this holiday season – as their new holiday catalog arrived.
It doesn’t look like too much has changed – you still pick the doll’s skin tone, eye color and hair color and you send in a photo of your child so they can customize the doll as much as possible for you. They have a variety of cute doll clothes but they don’t fit American Girl dolls. However some of the furniture and accessories work just fine for American Girl dolls – I really like the bunk bed with the built in storage.

My Twinn and American Girl Doll Photos
June 19, 2009 by Char · 616 Comments
The My Twinn doll line is back and it still has plenty of loyal fans. One of our readers, Lily, has shared some of her My Twinn and American Girl doll photos and descriptions with us – thanks Lily!!

The doll on the far left has the Wendi face mold from the 2003 China era. She has fair skin, light blue eyes, and golden brown hair. She is wearing a hand-smocked dress that was bought on eBay for $25 that included the dress, half-slip, and pantaloons.
The doll in the middle also has the Wendi face mold from the 2008 Virginia era. She has dark brown hair, green-brown eyes, and fair skin. She is wearing a one piece jumper dress from eBay that cost $16 (including shipping). I added the hoop skirt for extra fullness.
The doll on the far right has the Audrey face mold from the 2003 China era. She has very fair skin, blue eyes, and light blond hair. She is also wearing a hand-smocked dress that I bought on eBay for $25 that included the dress, half-slip, and pantaloon.
I like the My Twinn dolls because they’re more lifelike and larger than American Girl dolls at 23″ tall. Finding handmade outfits for them is enjoyable. They’re more expensive than American Girl, but it’s fun to have a doll that looks so much like you. Guess which one is Mini-Lily!

American Girl Kit and My Twinn Audrey look like sisters in this picture. Again, it was a complete accident that they are wearing similar dresses and look so much alike. In the background is a Seymour Mann Avery doll and to the right of Kit is Molly in her birthday outfit.

Felicity and Elizabeth are posing with their My Twinn counterparts. I custom ordered the My Twinn dresses from an eBay seller who makes girl and doll dresses for AG. They were $15 apiece (not a typo!) and included the dress, hoop skirt, mob cap, and purse. I honestly didn’t intend for the dresses to match Felicity’s and Elizabeth’s; I just happened to like those fabrics.
You can find retired My Twinn dolls, clothes, furniture, accessories and custom outfits on eBay and My Twinn has a new rewards program, too. Get up to $50 in Free Goods! My Twinn The Just Like Me Doll: www.mytwinn.com/freegoods
***These photos are beautiful, Lily! Thanks for sharing them with us. If you have photos of any of your dolls and want them featured on the site, email them to share@dolldiaries.com.
My Twinn Back in Business?
April 17, 2009 by Char · 136 Comments
My Twinn, the customized doll line that was recently sold off by eToys, seems to back in business. The My Twinn web site has a new look that has been dressed up for the holiday season, too. According to the Roanoke BBB, the company is now owned by TPC Acquisition, Inc. in Chatham, VA.
With the bankruptcy of eToys and the transition to TPC Acquisition, there have been many stories and accounts of My Twinn orders that have gone unfulfilled and dolls who were sent back for repair going missing. One such account has got a happy ending thanks to a Delaware bankruptcy judge who was able to track down a missing My Twinn doll that had been sent back to the hospital. According to DelawareOnline:
Very few creditors in a big-business bankruptcy case walk away as happy as a 9-year-old girl in DeSoto, Texas.
Thanks to the efforts of a bankruptcy judge in Delaware, Renee Hearne got her $150 doll back Wednesday after it disappeared as part of a roughly $106 million Internet toy-company bankruptcy. The blond-haired, blue-eyed doll, named Ginger, was waiting for Renee when the third-grader got home from school.
“I was so surprised. I missed her,” Renee said. “She looks the same thing as me.”
In Wilmington, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Brendan Linehan Shannon pursued the whereabouts of the 23-inch doll after Renee’s mother, Carol Hearne, wrote him a certified letter last week.
I hope this is a new start for the My Twinn company! I hope that all the other dolls sent to the My Twinn doll hospital will be returned to their owners sooner rather than later. Only time will tell whether the third time will be the charm for the My Twinn company.
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, My Twinn has a new rewards program, too. Get up to $50 in Free Goods! My Twinn The Just Like Me Doll: www.mytwinn.com/freegoods
My Twinn Future Uncertain
December 30, 2008 by Char · 30 Comments
UPDATE!! My Twinn is back in business. I am leaving the below announcement for historical purposes.
According to recent reports and the fact that My Twinn has ended its affiliate program, the future of the My Twinn doll company is definitely uncertain. Its parent company – The Parent Company – is seeking bankruptcy protection for itself and many of its brands, including eToys, KB Toys and My Twinn.
Although My Twinn dolls are not my favorite, they are still very well made, great for play and collecting, and they are good competition for American Girl. Hopefully another company will want to buy the My Twinn business and the dolls will continue to be made.
Best Dolls for Girls Ages 3-6
November 29, 2008 by Char · 5 Comments

Little girls, ages 3-6 love dolls. They are old enough to start role playing and have fun being “mommy” and caring for their dolls. My daughter has always loved playing with her dolls, pretending to take them to the mall, caring for them when they are sick, and setting up birthday parties for them.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when buying a doll for play is its durability. Dolls are meant to be played with and sometimes the more basic dolls are the ones that get the most play.

How Big is a My Twinn Doll Compared to an American Girl Doll
September 7, 2008 by Char · 172 Comments
Have you ever wondered how big My Twinn dolls are in comparison to American Girl dolls? In the Doll Diaries forum, Gale posted a great photo of her My Twinn doll standing next to her American Girl doll. The My Twinn dolls are 23″ tall where as the American Girl dolls are 18″ tall.

The My Twinn doll looks like she could be the American Girl doll’s big sister!
