<p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/kirren.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6131" title="Doll house for 18&quot; dolls" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/kirren.jpg" alt="Doll house for 18&quot; dolls" width="540" height="689" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Kirren</strong> sent in photos of her built in bookshelf that she made into a doll house for her American Girl dolls.</p>
<div>&#8220;I just wanted to show you pictures of my built in dollhouse that I have in my room.  When we built our house, my parents put in a dollhouse, but I just recently found that it works great for American Girl dolls.  I took out 2 shelves, and filled it with my doll stuff!  In the attic/bedroom is Kirsten with her dolls.  The dresser is a little jewelry box I found at a thrift store.  On the bottom (the living room), Elizabeth, Beckie (Rebecca), and Camille (#55)<var></var> are having a Valentines party.  I made the fireplace! <img src='http://dolldiaries.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />   I hope that you enjoy the pictures!&#8221;</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/annika.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6133" title="American Girl Balance Beam" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/annika.jpg" alt="American Girl Balance Beam" width="540" height="405" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div><strong>Annika</strong> used Karen&#8217;s balance beam post as inspiration for her purple doll beam.</div>
<div></div>
<div>&#8220;Kirsten is in an American Girl tee shirt with a tutu I made. Ruthie is in a dress that is sort of in progress; I have done the elastic and all, I just need to do some straps. The bed is made by my grandfather, and the mattress, pillow, and pink blanket are made by my grandmother. The blanket with the ties on the end of the bed is made by me though. I have had Kirsten for a long time and got her for my b day from my other grandparents. Ruthie I got this year, er, last year, for Christmas, and she is very happy to be with her best friend Kirsten! Lastly, the balance beam is made by me, using Karen&#8217;s idea.&#8221;</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/violet.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6134" title="American girl dolls" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/violet.jpg" alt="American girl dolls" width="540" height="363" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>This is one of the photos of <strong>Violet&#8217;s</strong> doll room I LOVE the idea of using the American Girl doll boxes to make a canopy bed for your dolls. Nice work Violet!</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/emma-doll-room.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6135" title="emma-doll-room" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/emma-doll-room.jpg" alt="" width="531" height="761" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div><strong>Emma</strong> built her doll room in her closet. You can see even more photos at her blog: <a href="http://myamericangirl.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-doll-room-closet.html">http://myamericangirl.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-doll-room-closet.html</a>. I love the ballet bar!</div>
<div></div>

<div></div>
<div><strong>Vivy</strong> found some super cute doll sized pans and shared them on her blog &#8211; love the doll size heart pan! <a href="http://vivyag.blogspot.com/2012/01/more-doll-sized-fun.html">http://vivyag.blogspot.com/2012/01/more-doll-sized-fun.html</a></div>

<div></div>
<div><strong>Annie</strong> got creative and made a loft bed from a doll bunk bed set she already had.</div>
<div></div>
<div>&#8220;This is the overview, on the bed you can see my doll Katelyn, MAG 27. The bed includes a closet, desk and dresser, plus all her accessories. I didn&#8217;t spend a cent on this, I unscrewed the bottom bunk from a doll bunk bed I had, and put my doll&#8217;s stuff under it. It worked out very well.&#8221;</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/madelon-jewelry.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-6138" title="doll dresser" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/madelon-jewelry.jpg" alt="doll dresser" width="540" height="600" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div><strong>Madelon and her daughter Emily</strong> are always finding the best stuff! Here is a jewelry box which she recently purchased for 12.99 and used as a dresser. It is wooden and very well made. I think Nellie is enjoying it.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Also, <strong>Aisha</strong> &#8211; known for her AMAZING photos has just done two videos of McKenna and her outfits.</div>

<p>In celebration of the new Cécile &amp; Marie-Grace dolls, American Girl hosted Charity Balls inspired by the costume balls of 1850s New Orleans at their individual stores. One of our readers, Madelon, and her daughter Emily went to the ball held at the American Girl Washington DC store at Tyson&#8217;s Corner and have this report and photos to share.</p>
<p><em>In her words:</em></p>
<p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/doll-ball.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-3326" title="American Girl Charity Ball DC" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/doll-ball-224x300.jpg" alt="American Girl Charity Ball DC" width="224" height="300" /></a>Having read your last post about the <a title="American Girl Historical Character Just For Fun Books" href="http://dolldiaries.com/american-girl-historical-character-just-for-fun-books/">Just for Fun books</a>, I was reminded to tell you about the fabulous Meet Cecile and Marie-Grace event we went to last Friday at the Washington, DC area store. It was a charity ball type event to raise money for a New Orleans after school program. The store set out beautiful hors doeurves, taught dancing of the period, offered hair-styling and crafts. Emily had fun making a mask for her doll and a matching one for herself.</p>
<p>Next we had a fabulous dinner in the Bistro, learned about the dolls and some new French words. We received two chocolates in a special Cecile and Marie-Grace box.</p>
<p>Our goodie bag included a poster and the Just for Fun book you mentioned!</p>
<p>They had a very nice silent auction where you could bid on the dolls, books and accessories. Some very lucky girls went home with beautiful new items. The bidding was competitive, but the sale prices were way below retail.</p>
<p>I bought the song lyrics of the song Harry Connick Jr.&#8217;s daughter sang autographed by him and her for 30 dollars! It is a nice keepsake of the event.</p>
<p><strong>Thanks again Madelon for sharing these photos and your experience with us! </strong></p>

During the month of July I got lots of reader input but was so busy with my own crazy life I haven&#8217;t had a chance to share many of them &#8211; until now. Some of you sent me lots of photos and I can&#8217;t post all of them, but I did pick out my favorites.</p>
<p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/mag42.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3058" title="My American Girl 42" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/mag42.jpg" alt="My American Girl 42" width="500" height="375" /></a></p>
<p>Gretchen shared a photo of her My American Girl doll #42 named AJ. According to Gretchen, she looks WAY prettier than online, like most dolls do. Her hair is very long and very fun to style in many different hairstyles &#8211; it is not textured like the website says. Gretchen likes to style AJ&#8217;s hair into French braids and high ponytails.  Her tan skin is a very pretty olive-ish color. AJ looks great in  light blue and red.</p>
<p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/kaya-ags.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3060" title="American Girl Kaya in Seattle store" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/kaya-ags.jpg" alt="American Girl Kaya in Seattle store" width="500" height="375" /></a></p>
<p>Sarah and her family visited the new American Girl store in Alderwood &#8211; also known as the Seattle store on July 23.  They took a bunch of great photos but my favorite one is this one of Kaya&#8217;s display. Kaya is often overlooked but her story is such an important part of American history.</p>
<p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/lanie.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3061" title="American Girl doll Lanie" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/lanie.jpg" alt="American Girl doll Lanie" width="500" height="373" /></a></p>
<p>Mara got creative with the play space she had to work with and divided her space into two rooms. Lanie looks pretty comfortable on her bed on her half of the &#8220;room.&#8221;</p>
<p>Thanks for sending these! If you have sent me photos and I have not posted them yet let me know and I will go back through my email and find them. I am working on a post from Jolie still that features her Playmobil dollhouse. That may be another day or so &#8211; but you will love it.</p>
<p>Anyway, feel free to email me photos of your doll&#8217;s adventures, product reviews and things you make for your dolls! Make sure you have your parent&#8217;s permission and send them to share@dolldiaries.com.</p>

Also, if you pierce your dolls&#8217; ears, it is PERMANENT so think long and hard about taking on this project first.</strong></p>
<p>Now that I got all that out of the way, TracAn posted a very detailed tutorial on piercing your doll&#8217;s ears in our forum and gave me permission to repost it here.</p>
<p><strong>SUPPLIES NEEDED TO PIERCE DOLL&#8217;S EARS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Pencil to mark the place to pierce</li>
<li>Needle nose pliers to hold the pin or needle</li>
<li>A thin pin or needle, make sure it is a thin one</li>
<li>Lighter to heat the pin or needle</li>
<li>Earring to put in the ears</li>
</ul>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1141" title="Tools to pierce vinyl dolls ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09001earpiercing.jpg" alt="Tools to pierce vinyl dolls ears" width="320" height="201" /></p>
<p>Use the pencil to mark where you want to pierce the ear</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1142" title="How to pierce a vinyl doll's ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09002earpiercing.jpg" alt="How to pierce a vinyl doll's ears" width="230" height="319" /></p>
<p>Hold the pin with the needle nose pliers so that you do not burn your fingers when the pin is heated and it is easier to hold steady.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1143" title="How to pierce a vinyl doll's ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09003earpiercing.jpg" alt="How to pierce a vinyl doll's ears" width="283" height="320" /></p>
<p>Do not try to push the pin straight in &#8211; it will bend.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1144" title="Piercing a doll's ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09004earpiercing.jpg" alt="Piercing a doll's ears" width="319" height="193" /></p>
<p>If you work more from the front, you can see the earrings better and they fit their ear more securely.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1145" title="Pircing doll's ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09005earpiercing.jpg" alt="Pircing doll's ears" width="319" height="193" /></p>
<p>Next hold the pin or needle and use the lighter to heat it up so that it will melt through the plastic (PLEASE use ADULT supervision with this part &#8211; I&#8217;m serious!!!)</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1146" title="heat" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09006earpiercing.jpg" alt="heat" width="319" height="263" /></p>
<p>Brace your hand on their shoulder and line the pin up where you want it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1147" title="Piercing a doll's ears" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09007earpiercing.jpg" alt="Piercing a doll's ears" width="320" height="264" /></p>
<p>Then you can slide the pin in and pull it back out immediately.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1148" title="Doll ear piercing" src="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/03-16-09008earpiercing.jpg" alt="Doll ear piercing" width="320" height="264" /></p>
<p>And the result:</p>
