Each one of the spotlight sites has shared before and after photos of dolls they have rescued and given new life to. These transformations are amazing and inspire me to go looking for a previously loved doll on eBay or my local thrift store.</p> <p> </p> <h2>1. Britlyn Madison Doll Clothes</h2> <p><a href="http://britlynmadison.blogspot.com/2011/11/our-new-model-willow.html"></a></p> <p><a href="http://britlynmadison.blogspot.com/2011/11/our-new-model-willow.html">Britlyn-Madison Doll Clothes rescued this Felicity doll</a>, gave her a new wig and new paint and renamed her Willow. She was purchased on eBay for $45 but now she is priceless! What a cutie!</p> <p> </p> <h2>2. Dynamite Threads</h2> <p><a href="http://www.dynamitethreads.com/2011/11/my-twinn.html"></a></p> <p>Erin at <a href="http://www.dynamitethreads.com/2011/11/my-twinn.html">Dynamite Threads rescued this vintage My Twinn</a> doll from eBay and fixed her up nicely. Erin notes that while Caitie was a total mess when she first got her, the actual fixes were quite easy. I think she looks great! Dolls Behaving Badly</h2> <p><a href="http://dollsbehavingbadly.blogspot.com/2011/11/in-which-jakks-rapunzel-gets-new-face.html"></a></p> <p>Charlie from <a href="http://dollsbehavingbadly.blogspot.com/2011/11/in-which-jakks-rapunzel-gets-new-face.html">Dolls Behaving</a> badly has fallen for Rapunzel in a very hard way! I learned about <a href="http://tonnerdoll.com/blog/doll-blogs/charlie-answers-tangled-q-rapunzel">Charlies’s new obsession with Rapunzel during a recent Twitter #dollchat</a> and am beginning to see why she loves this latest Disney Princess so much. Charlie has a Tonner Rapunzel (the smaller doll in the left hand photo) but wanted a friend for her. She bought a brand new Rapunzel from Jakks Pacific but was horrified at the dolls bubble gum pink lips and garish coloring. Charlie’s solution – REPAINT. She got Kit and based on the photos, she is thrilled!! Kit is a great first American Girl doll – her hair is easy to work with and her stories are relatively easy to read – and there is the movie, too.</p> <h2></h2> <h2>2. My American Girl and Me Blog by Caelen</h2> <p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/cecile-marie-grace-closeup.jpg"></a>Caelen is a long time Doll Diaries reader and active commenter plus <a href="http://www.caelen12.blogspot.com/">she has her own blog</a> where she shares all her own American Girl doll adventures.. She recently went to American Girl Place New York and took a TON of great photos – including some of the Marie-Grace and Cecile dolls close up as well as the different displays at AGPNY. Personally, my favorite photo is of the pet apartment – I think we may need to make one of our own.</p> <h2></h2> <h2>3. Special Dolls Online Blog</h2> <p><a href="http://dolldiaries.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/special-dolls.jpg"></a><a href="http://www.specialdollsonlineblog.org">Special Dolls Online Blog</a> is a really cool site for learning more about doll history. For example, in one of her recent posts she talks about <a href="http://www.specialdollsonlineblog.org/2011/08/22/american-baby-dolls/">dolls that are at the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, VA</a> (might need to take a field trip) and how some dolls were used to smuggle medicine for Confederate troops past Union blockades. January’s doll was Samantha and February’s doll is Felicity. She is described as a city girl who learns how to have fun outdoors.
