Even though most 18″ play dolls are modeled as 9-12 year olds, one of the most popular play activities for our dolls is driving around the house going from adventure to adventure. Until recently the preferred method of transportation was the red plush convertible for the Build-a-Bears which just so happens to fit two 18″ dolls nicely, but move over little red car, there is a new ride in town!
Our girls are having way too much fun cruising in their new 4×4 Beach Cruiser from Sophia’s that you can purchase through MyDollsLife.com. This was sent to us for review and photography purposes, however, I can not even tell you how many adventures the dolls have gone on in the jeep already! In the picture above we have American Girl Gwen at the wheel and she is wearing the Sophia’s Tank Style Swimsuit, the yellow terry-cloth cover up and Springfield Dolls white sunglasses. In the passenger seat it is Journey Girls Kyla wearing the Hawaiian print tankini and the pink terry cover up from Sophia’s. Riding dangerously in the back is Sophia’s 18″ doll Carly wearing the wet suit and water shoes also from Sophia’s.
The Sophia’s 4×4 is made of sturdy pink plastic. The roll cage/windshield have to be assembled and locked into place on the body of the car when you first take it out of the box. It took just minutes to do. The windshield features movable windshield wipers, a rear view mirror and side mirrors. The headlights have heart shaped lights that are decals – not realistic, but so cute!
A view from the front corner of the vehicle – this gives you a better view of the tires. Again definitely sturdy and good play value!
To the beach!! The Sophia’s 4×4 fits two dolls comfortably in the seats and has room for all their gear, pets or a friend (not recommended for real life, but we are talking about dolls here!). The doors do not open but it is super easy to get the dolls in through the top of the vehicle. Also, it does not have seat belts – again not a good thing in real life, but for dolls it is not as critical.
While there is not an actual windshield in the jeep, you can move the wipers and steering wheel. The dashboard has a “radio” and “vents,” too.
There is plenty of room in the back of the jeep to put beach towels, your doll’s favorite pet, a picnic basket, doll luggage or two more dolls standing up.
Gwen showing off her floral tank swim suit and yellow pollywogs for playing at the beach.
Kyla, Gwen and Carly are having a great day out on the way to the beach. Aren’t Carly’s water shoes just the cutest?
Overall, the Sophia’s 4×4 Beach Cruiser is a solid value. It sells for $69.95 on the MyDollsLife.com website and you can get free shipping on orders over $60. Because it is what I would call a “big” item, I would recommend it for birthdays, holidays or a special occasion gift. Having seen the Our Generation vehicle at Target, the Sophia’s 4×4 is definitely more solid and will last longer in my opinion. Compared to the American Girl VW for Julie at $350, the Sophia’s 4×4 is obviously much less expensive and built for actual PLAY.

P.S. I really like this car.I might need to save up for it in my doll town!
Hi, does anyone have Lalaloppsy dolls here? I really want one, but I’m saving up for the American Girl doll Marie-Grace. I am probably going to ask for one for my birthday that is in a few months. I want the Lalaloopsy doll Jewel Sparkles.
I really like this! Your house must be busting at the seams with doll stuff! How do you guys store it all??
to cute!!!!
Adorablee! I like the one from our generation too!
I know this is off subject, but I have 2 used in great condition retired Madame Alexander Create-a-dolls, that i would like to sell. They are just like the Take along Friends, just they are an older type, but the same thing. I have some of the clothes and accessories too.
They look like:
One has Dark brown hair, bangs, blue eyes
The other has red hair, bangs, and green/ aqua eyes.
They both have straight shoulder length hair, and have 4 mini braids that I have always been in.
Do any of you know how much to sell them for, or would any of you be interested? Thanks.
Oh and they are 9inches tall.
Oh and that I before have is not supposed to be there
I have three and I love them! Some people don’t like their heads because they cannot sit down well and they are not plush.
cute! i saw a elictrice scooter at target from og for only thirdy bucks and it looks pretty sturdy! i might be tempted to buy it!
well actualy it was more like a vespa then a elictrice scooter
Cute!
Claire, I have it, and it is VERY sturdy. My beagle (who’s not the smallest dog in the world, heehee) sat on it, and it is still as good as new. It can actually hold two dolls, the way I use it.
Cute!!!
cute car! yaeh Lucille is better standing than sitting.
Delaney~how much do you think you’d charge?
Molly, I don’t know. I need someone to give me suggestions though.
Audrey- I have Jewel Sparkles the Lalaloopsy doll and she is alright. They are very floppy, especially their heads and their shoes are annoying to get on and off. Overall, she’s cute but not my favorite.
Kits Scooter Is Cheep And Very Nice
Aglover, yes but the og one is more modern and stylish

Cute!
I don’t really think I want MY “9 YEAR OLD” dolls driving! they could kill the monster highs!
or injure
Cassie, that would be awful! You could pretend it’s one of those kid-sized jeep thingys or a golf cart! I see tons of 9 year olds driving those…
however, they probably shouldn’t be. Lol!
I used to have one of those but I sold it a few years ago because I almost broke my arm on it.
