Rumor has it that the next American Girl Historical character will be Rebecca, a Jewish girl from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Since that time period is very close to the one for Samantha, I wonder if the release of this new doll is the reason for Samantha’s archiving.
No word yet on a release date, author for her books or any other details. Again, this is just rumor (one that may have been substantiated though). Stay tuned for more. Or better yet, if you know anything, leave a comment.

Mattel doesn;’t seem to care about what people think, they only look at stuff from a strictly money-making point of view. Of course, that’s the problem with a big toy corporation. I REALLY wish AG had stayed a small family owned company. I’m just so upset about Samantha retiring, I mean it was almost her 25th anniversery. : ( If they MUST retire dolls : (, I wish they’d leave the three orginals alone, Samantha, Kirsten, and Molly as “classics”.
yea but if they were a small company they wouldnt be able to manafature as many and they’d probably be more expensive they need to look at it in a buisness view b/c it is a buisness and if they werent all big we would have the amount of dolls we do now

I personally didn’t like Samantha that much so replacing her is okay for me. I mean, she’s been around for 22 years. And of course Mattel wants to do things that will make them money, it is the nature of a business. I think that they just want to give us new options for dolls for the next generation of AG fans. This move wasn’t to make us upset, and who knows, Rebecca might be your favorite doll!

When do you guys get out for Winter (Christmas) Break? We get out on the 19 and don’t go back until January 5. The news people said it might snow here on Friday and Saturday!! I hope it does!! I understand with you Bree. I have 14 dolls and tons of clothes and accessories and everyone thinks I’m spoiled. I buy most of my stuff myself, and my grandparents (who are rich though) and my parents buy me everything else for Christmas and birthdays. I’m 15 and I still LOVE AG!!!!!!

Ya it’s really funny b/c b4 this year I got maybe one a year (like 2007 ,2008 not jan.5 to jan.5 2009) but this year I got Mia (well, now that I think of it, it’s prob bc this is the first timme I paid for them) Sam and Kit!!! lol Also thanks Tibrocks7!!! A Jewish doll is awesome. Last year, I had planned on writing American Girl about only having one Jewish doll ever, but now I don’t have to. Now that she may be coming out ( if she does) I will have to choose between her and Chrissa. I hope shehas brown curly hair. That would be cute!
