I love showing various outfits on different dolls – it is fun to see how an outfit can take on different style depending on the doll and also to see how a doll’s size, coloring and personality affect how I like an outfit. Today’s outfit is from The Queen’s Treasures and it is called Rodeo Drive Shopping Outfit – it consists of skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and a faux leather, peplum style jacket.
When I first saw this outfit on The Queen’s Treasures website I fell in love with that jacket. It is such a unique color – it makes me think of a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – and the peplum shape and stiching details are really in right now. What I didn’t expect is that in person, this jacket is a little tricky to style just right. I mean it looks good on just about every doll, however, to do it its full justice you really need to put it on the RIGHT doll. At least that is my opinion. Saige was the first model and while I was not convinced that this was the outfit for her originally, once I started looking at all the photos for the morning the more I realized I did like it on her.
I paired the jacket with her turquoise stud earrings and her turquoise necklace for a little pop of color. Her gold boots also work well with the outfit. For skinny jeans, these are generously cut and will fit on your most stuffed dolls.
Ivy paired the jeans with black slouch boots for a more polished look and while I think this is a good color on Ivy, I definitely should have added more accessories and maybe a trendy black leather bag.
Kidz ‘n Cats Camille is next. She is much slimmer than the American Girl dolls but I wanted to see if the outfit would still work on her. The color is nice but she does get swallowed up by the jacket and I had to pin the jeans in the back so they don’t fall off of her.
South African Girl Annie’s outfit is my favorite. I added the retired AG Grecian Princess outfit necklace (it is for girls but I adjusted it and let the excess hang down in the back) and paired the jeans with Felicity’s meet shoes for a completely different look. The other thing is that Annie’s hair and eye color work really well with the pumpkin colored fake leather.
Annie looks very pulled together and ready to go shopping or to somewhere important!
So, who do you think wears it best?
