I was flipping through one of my daughter’s old American Girl catalogs the other day and came across the American Girl Tennis & Golf Set. All I could say was, “How cute is this and how did we miss this one?” Of course, now I am bidding on one on Ebay, because I just HAVE to have it. I hope American Girl is planning on coming out with a new version of the outfit in the near future.
So, today’s question… What retired item – outfit, furniture or accessory – do you wish you would have gotten when it was available or wish American Girl would release a new version of?
You know what would be cool? A Dust Bowl girl from 1924 (excuse me if I have the year wrong). She could be a farm girl and the dust bowl hits….and it could talk about what they had to do…I read a book about a girl in the dust bowl (which was great btw) and they had to sleep with towels over their faces so dust couldn’t get in their mouths as they slept. And in one part, so much dust piled on top of their school that the roof collapsed.
Excuse me, according to Wikipedia, it would have to be 1934, not 1924. But I love Kit…. WHY CAN’T THEY HAVE TWO 30′S DOLLS?

It would also be cool to do a Gold Rush doll, too! There were a lot of immigrants that came to america looking for gold in the west during that time, so they could make a Chinese or Irish immigrant, or another culture…
A Chinese girl can’t work. Chinese men and boys were the first to come here. Girls came way later. Plus, AG already has Ivy. Why can’t Chinese Americans look at Ivy as a representitive for Chinese Americans?

But what is the question. Hoe else has Asian contributed to American history? AG did talk about the Chinese and Chinese Miners. D: I’m still iffy about other Asians.
