Reborn Baby Dolls – Cute or Creepy?

Baby Blossoms Scented Baby Doll Collection
Reborn baby dolls are incredibly realistic baby dolls that are created by extremely talented and skilled artists. The artists go to great measure to make the dolls look as life like as possible, but are they cute or creepy?

The Today Show recently did a piece on the reborn dolls and reported that women pay anywhere from $300-$4,000 for these one of a kind collectible dolls. Personally, I don’t have an issue with that due to the time it takes the artists to create the dolls and the fact that a lot of dads (and other grown men) collect model trains, motorcycles and other toys that are much more expensive.

What I do think is a bit odd is the extreme some of these collectors go to with their dolls. Some collectors strap their reborns into car seats when they go out – leading to more than one case of panic by an unknowing passer by or police officer.

BBC America is running a tv documentary on the fascination with these dolls. While the episode has already run, it will be replayed a few times if you want to check it out.

So, what do you think? Cool collectible or a little too realistic and creepy?

    Firstie! Definately creepy!

  2. I think it’s a cool idea, but the fact that people are using them to “replace” children that they never had, or a child that died as an infant is sort of sad. I would love to have one since I love pretending with baby dolls and stuff, but I’d like a more realistic one.

i think it would be fun to freak people out with it but, being twelve, i cant really afford one.

As art pieces they are fine, I don’t think they are CUTE but they are well-done. But I don’t think babies are cute anyway.

What’s creepy is using them to replace real babies! I mean if you want a baby, have one or adopt one. There are plenty of kids out there who need new homes.

If my mom or dad bought one to replace one of my siblings who died (not that they ever would) I would really really hate it.

These are incredible works of art, but just a little creepy. Especially the trying to replace real people with them. Women who can’t have babies and use these obviously need pyscological help!

I read before how to make them & I can see why they cost so much. They do look cool if you are a doll collector. It is creepy though the way buyers pretend they are real. I have seen online, an entire nursery set up for the reborn baby. Strange & a bit sad.

    They are cute

  11. Rachel says:

Ok let me just say, I have always found them INSANELY CREEPY! I mean, nothing wrong with a realistic baby doll (every girl has at least one) but this goes to far. If it is too realistic it is just weird. When little girls play “Mommy” with their dolls it’s fine. When grownups play “parent” to a doll it’s sad and weird.

    i dont know kinda both

  13. Mackenzie says:

They look like babies, and babies start to get cuter once grow a little. These are dolls and they DON’T grow, therefore they look like BABIES!

  14. Taylor says:

    CREEPY!!!!!!!!

  15. Hami Ju says:

I think they are so so cute.I would rather have one of those than my sister!!!!!!!
