  1. Lena says:

Josefina is pronounced with an H, bit is also spelled with an F (pet peeve of mine)

I’m proud to say I may have started the western girl rumor. This author has the most experiance in the west (she worked at Old World Wisconsin) and Nicki was 5 years ago. The target market does not remember her, and the cowgirl theme is really popular with little girls. I do think we’ll eventually see a cowgirl in some form, be it an actual 1870s wild west doll, or a 1950s visit to a ranch doll.

  2. Sarah l. says:

omg im soooo exited ,i remember the original post last year this is so cool

  3. Megan says:

Most likely it is probably gonna be a doll from the Oregon trail in the 1800′s. For this of you who don’t know the Oregon trail is like the little house book series. Now that they have gotten rid of Kristen there’s no dolls in that particular time frame or era so that idea is completely open

  4. Audra says:

I’m getting really worried that Josefina will be retiring next. I went to buy Nina, and she was retired! How could they retire they doll her mom made for the girls?! Ugh! Luckily, I found it on ebay with her Christmas dress this week at a good price so all is well.
Anyway, with 2012 being 200 years after the War of 1812, it is possible that they may make a regency style girl from 1814. I would love that, Jane Austen books and regency clothes are some of my favorite, but I would hate for them to replace Josefina with her!
If they do 1812, she would likely be from one of the original 13 colonies, Vermont, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, or Louisiana (it’s a shame they didn’t make Cecile and Marie Grace from New Orleans 1814!)
However, this is just guesswork. She’ll probably be a western girl from all the rumors floating around from last year!

  5. Anastasia says:

Yay! I have been saving my money for her for the longest time! : D

  6. Lgrrl says:

    Im so excited!

  7. Lena says:

Why is it when I hear “Oregon Trail” I automatically think “You have died of dysentery”. Good times.

I’d love to see Maryland 1812 (burning of Washington), realistic wild west, realistic 1950s (with all of its flaws, and no poodle skirts!), or possibly a 1/2 native girl from before Kaya.

  8. Teeny says:

Lena- I agree with all of your projected ideas. Personally I would like to see a girl from 1880s Colorado, or a Native American girl during the Indian Wars. That is an important story that needs to be told. But that might be too traumatic for little girls….
Or a girl on the Kentucky frontier circa 1814……
I am so excited! But I though the release might be earlier, around May or June…

  9. Teeny says:

Nicki was not a “cowgirl” . She may have lived on a ranch with horses in Colorado, but the modern and historical definitions vary. A historical “cowgirl” vs. a modern “cowgirl” are very different ideas…

Ugg now I have to go write my theology and biology essays……. yuck! Ah school…… waaaaaaahhh!
    Ich mochte schaufen jetz…..

  10. Chloe says:

Is there a doll from Michigan Kentucky or Virginia? Because I have some family who live there

  11. Lena says:

    Felicity is virginian.

I know the difference between a historical “cowgirl” (which was truly rare) and a modern cowgirl (which Nicki was, if you judge based on her collection).

  12. Abby says:

I’ve had a theory all along. The month that they (AG) released the 25th Anniv. Mini dolls was in the same order they retired the dolls. Did anybody else notice this? So my guess is that they are retireing Addy next. Since they made another African-American Doll, they can retire the old one…i hate it though. I’m an old AG Veteren…I loved the originals but I only have 3…my sister has 5…neither one of us has Samantha. Anywho, Thats my guess of who AG is going to “get rid of” this year. Does anybody agree?

  13. Jenny says:

^ Not really. The Felicity mini doll came before Kirsten’s, and the Kirsten doll was archived before Felicity.

  14. Marissa says:

I have been saving sooooo much to try and get McKenna. But what if I like this doll more? I am going to the AG store in JUne or July, but maybe I”ll try and wait till September. I can’t wait for the new doll!!!!

  15. Sarah says:

Marissa- The good thing is this doll is Historical, so you can get her next year. :D
Lena- What is the burning of Washington? I havn’t gotten that far in my History class yet! Lol!

  16. Anne says:

    Oooh I can’t wait! :)

  17. Jenny says:

^ True! New historicals are here for a lot longer than GOTYs.

  18. Teeny says:

Yes. If you want McKenna, I would go with that because the new historical doll will be here for a lot longer.
I tried to figure out a pattern with the 25 Anniv. Minis, and have come to the conclusion that Addy will retire next . Probably not in 2012, most likely 2013. Not just because she is next in line, I have a theory. Then Josefina, then Molly, and after that, I don’t think there will be any more retirements.

  19. Marina says:

It’s probably that 60′s or 50′s girl everyone wants!

  20. Marina says:

I think that Rebecca was a replacement to samantha, Cecile & Marie Grace to Kirsten! I mean, if you look at C and MG time period its 1853 and Kirsten lived in 1854!!!

  21. Chloe says:

    Audra, who was nina?

  22. Teeny says:

Nina was Josefina’s doll. She was passed down through her family, and was very special, because her Mama made Nina before she died.

  23. Teeny says:

Nina was Josefina’s doll. She was passed down through her family, and was very special, because her Mama made Nina before she died.

  24. Tiara says:

This IS AWESOME! I’m back! Also, figured out something. See, Samantha had a friend doll, but Rebecca was just one doll. Kirsten was only one doll and MG and C came together. So, There is Highly not going to be A friend Doll with this one.

  25. Lena says:

You guys are looking for patterns were there are none, IMO.

Chloe, Nina was the doll Josefina’s mama made for her sister Ana when Ana was eight, and the doll was passed on to each sister when she turned eight. Josefina got the doll a year later because Clara was too sad to part with it.

The burning of Washington was in 1812, when the British burned down DC in an attemp to get their colonies back.

  26. Cami says:

    Chloe- Nina was Josefina’s doll.

  27. Cami says:

Teeny- I didn’t see your comment, sorry.

Tiara- The BFF’s collection is a fail. Also there would have been a BFF mini doll listed on ebay.

  28. Chloe says:

Thanks ok well now I know :)

  29. Tiara says:

Well, I really hope there is NOT another 1800s Doll! WE NEED A CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT DOLL!!!

  30. Audra says:

There are so many states that a doll has never came from…I did a chart and all of the dolls only come from 15 states. I hope they do a doll from a state that hasn’t been done before!
Chloe, Jess was from Michigan although her story was in South America (I can’t remember where). Kentucky (and Tennessee) haven’t been done before, although Kit’s Aunt was from Kentucky and Ruthie went there for help in her story. Virginia was Felicity as Lena mentioned (great story ideas, Lena by the way).
I can’t find my chart, but if I remember there were lots of dolls from New York and California! I hope they stop making dolls from there. Not everybody lives on the west or east coast!

I didn’t mean to sound so panicky about Josefina because they retired her nina doll. It’s just that I’ve wanted Josefina for 10 years, and now that I’m finally trying to collect her, the collection is almost gone. Addy’s, too. I agree with Teeny that Addy may be next. There are only 2 AA’s and they are only 10 years apart (why must all AA’s come from circa Civil War? They have been in America since they were brought over in the 1600′s!)

Anyhow, I was thinking about the dolls’ dolls, and realized that none of the new girls have a doll of their own. Not Julie nor Ivy (Chinese dolls), or Rebecca (kewpie or russian nesting dolls), or MArie Grace and Cecile, or even Ruthie or Emily! It’s kind of sad, I love the dolls and the nighttime necessities and the summer rescue kits and none of them are being made anymore…

  31. Jenny says:

but if I remember there were lots of dolls from New York and California!
    ==============
Um, I thought Julie and ivy were the only Californian girls?

  32. Sarah says:

Lena- Thank you! I rember now!

  33. Zoe says:

I would like to see a Irish factory girl, a girl who’s dad is working in the railroad business, or(as ivy is the only chinese historical) a girl from the camps during the Pearl Harbor era. (Though these may be a bit to traumatic for girls)

  34. Teeny says:

There are way more dolls from the 1900s than from the 1800s. The 1700s are woefully underrepresented. I don’t think AG will do a civil rights doll soon. Although I would like to see one; I read The Help and it was amazing.

AG can’t do every important time period as some events would be too traumatic. Like I said before, I would like to see a Native American doll from the Indian Wars in the 1870s, and what their story was like, but I am almost 100% positive that AG won’t.

  35. Lena says:

Pearl Harbor didn’t affect Chinese, it affected Japanese. There would be some very serious backlash from the Japanese if an intenment doll is not done very properly. But I’d like to see some underepresented Asian cultures. Not every Asian is Chinese or Japanese.

Off the top of my head:
Kaya: covers Idaho, Washington, and Oregon
    Felicity: Virginia
    Josefina: New Mexico
Kirsten: Minnesota, although Missouri and New York make apearances.
    Marie-Grace & Cecile: Louisiana
    Addy: South Carolina & Philadelphia
Samantha : New York (& takes many trips to England)
Rebecca: New York, takes trip to New Jersey
Kit: Ohio, several stories take place in Kentucky
    Molly: Illinios
    Julie: California
Lindsey: book never specified, but have heard Illinios from CS
    Kailey: California
    Marisol: Illinios
Jess: from Michigan, took place in Belize
    Nicki: Colorodo
    Mia: New York
Chrissa: from Iowa, moved to Minnesota
    Lanie: Massachusetts
    Kanani: Hawaii
    McKenna: Washington

I’m not counting BFFs because the live in the same place as the main character and don’t have much backstory.

  36. Lena says:

By my count 21 states are represented between GOTYs and Historicals. I did a quick chart, but it’s in moderation.

  37. Sarah says:

Thats pretty cool. They only have 29 more states to go! ;)

  38. Rebekah says:

    What doll is retiring???

  39. Audra says:

That’s a great chart, Lena. I forgot that Kaya and Kirsten’s stories cover several states. There sure are a lot of dolls from Illinois and New York!
Jenny: Julie, Ivy, and Kailey were from California. That’s only 3, but with 29 states and only about 14 historicals to go (if they chose decades not represented before), I hope they choose someplace different for those dolls and the year ones. They couldgo about 15 years before repeating themselves!

I’d like to see a doll from Alaska, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, anywhere in the northwest.
It would be nice if the Michigan doll was actually in Michigan in her story! Perhaps a girl from the 50′s when Detroit was Motown and Motor City and all the cool music and cars came from there.
Or maybe one from Memphis TN, home of the blues and Elvis, or Nashville, home of country music, or East Tennessee and Appalachian music (I love the hearts for hearts Dell doll from Kentucky she is awesome!).

  40. Marina says:

Hey, which dolls do you guys have!
I have Samantha, Rebecca(who isn’t cheaped out, in my opinion). Lanie, and MAG #42 Marina

  41. Jenny says:

I only have Samantha and Addy. :D

  42. Sarah says:

Audra- Those are awesome ideas! I would love a doll like those!
    Marina- I have:
    Elizabeth
    Natalie (JLY #30)
    Rebecca
    Susanna (MYAG #34)
    Felicity

  43. Lena says:

My blog under “My Dolls” lists all of them, with pictures of some.

  44. Lena says:

All of my AGs, I mean. I have a ton of Life of Faiths, Karito Kids, Hearts 4 Hearts, and Madame Alexanders that I’m too lazy to list.

  45. Cami says:

I want a girl from the 1950′s living in Nashville and loves music. But then she has to go to her aunts ranch in Colorado and live there for the summer, and she is upset because she thinks Nashville is where she can let her music shine. But she meets new friends and plays her music and realizes she can play her music wherever, not just in Nashville.

Sorry not my best idea ever, but yeah.

  46. Lena says:

I think I’m the only one who doesn’t want a 50s girl. She’s be Molly, down to the clothes and furniture. Yes, Molly’s furniture is more 50s than 40s.

  47. Lace says:

I agree with you Lena, I will be disappointed if it is a ’50s doll.

  48. Lace says:

The original PC furniture for Molly was much more realistic to the 40s. The current table is definitely more of a 50s style.

  49. Lena says:

I would love to get my hands on that wooden table of Molly’s, it fits so nicley anywhere in the 1900-today.

  50. Cami says:

I hope she’ll have long wavy/curly blond hair (preferably Marisol’s wig), dark blue eyes, light skin, Mia’s freckle pattern, and the MG mold. She would be gorgeous. Would my story also work for a 1960′s girl? Because a 1960′s girl would be my 2nd choice. Then it could cover her story, and the story of the Civil Rights Movement.
