Pictures of the New American Girl Doll Julie

The American Girl Place personal shopper rooms have the new Julie and Ivy dolls on display!! Thanks to prsnlrd for allowing me to share picture she took of Julie and Ivy at AGP. The basketball set is too cute!! I think it is great that Julie has a sporty side!

And she has cute dogs, too!

Julie’s friend Ivy has the same face mold as Jess.
If anyone else has photos of Julie and Ivy they want to share with us, please leave a comment or post a link! I have added a few more pictures of Julie and Ivy.
P.S. - I asked the original owner of these photos for permission to post them BEFORE I posted them and I saved them to my computer instead of HOTLINKING. Please use proper manners if you are posting pictures on the web.

I love her. She looks so cute. I cant tell if she has a different face mold or not.
I think Julie should have more of a honey-blond color of hair and a new face mold (she looks a lot like girl of the year Kailey). I think both Julie and Ivy are cute though! Does anyone know when Julie will be released? I’ve heard August 28th, September 4th, and September 10th.
apparently they will be released september 9th in LA and september 10 in atlanta, new york and chicago.
My daughter and I were at the AG store in Chicago yesterday - there were AG employees showing Julie and all of her stuff with Ivy too - you could preorder any and all and then will ship on Sept 10th they said. The accessories are adorable - a real record player that plays little records, a little barbie head with curlers to do her hair (remember the barbie head where you put on makeup and did her hair), tupperware pitcher and glasses, jiffy pop little popcorn pan - it was really neat to see. I just preordered the mini julie doll on Amazon for under 14.00 - and the mini dolls are 20.00 at the store.
Becki - how lucky of you to see it all! I am really looking forward to getting some of the Julie and Ivy collection for my daughter’s birthday.
My daughter and I love the Julie Doll. My Mom’s name is Julie and she grew up during the ’70’s and said her clothes looked just like the dolls - she even played basketball like the doll - my daughter will be getting this for Christmas, her grandma can’t resist (and neither can I)!
What a shame se doesn’t even look Chinese. She just looks like a person with a European background in a Chinese outfit for dress-up.

Pretty disappointing. I prefer Corelle.

Ivy’s name and face are disappointing. Corelle makes such beautiful Chinese dolls and just tonight at Family Christian I found a small Chinese looking faith doll. It makes no sense, you can specially create an American Girl doll that looks more asian than Ivy . . .
I agree that she’s not very authentic. Features and skin tone are hardly even a hint at anyone Asian.

I am disappointed in Ivy, I was one of the many that requested an Asian AG doll while at the AG store-Chicago. I have a daughter from China and wanted her to be able to have the same experience my non-chinese daughter has. What a shame the doll doesn’t look more Asian. I always tell her that there are more people in the world that look like her than me.
I, too, am the mom of a daughter from China. I just got word of this long-awaited doll from someone in a local China-adoption group. I’m disappointed in this doll as well — they’ve used my LEAST favorite of the face molds, sigh. WHAT is with the teeth on that doll???? (Sorry if the Jess mold is anyone’s favorite, but I much prefer a sweet smile like those of the other dolls.)
If you’re the mom of an Asian daughter, take a look at the original Asian doll by Goetz (or is it Geotz?). That doll’s name is Kimberly and turns up on eBay quite often. I MUCH prefer it to the “just like me” Asian mold in the AG collection. I got one on eBay a few years ago, and it’s safely put away for my daughter, who is 4, for a few years. This year, DD will be getting an Asian Bitty Baby.
Now, it is weird to anyone that I — who was 9 in 1977 as well! — want a Julie doll, lol?
I, too, am a mom to an adopted daughter from China. I was also disappointed that AG didn’t do a new face mold for Ivy to make her look more asian. I will probably end up getting Ivy and Julie, but just because I was 11 in 1974 and remember all the fashions and accessories. I had the Barbie head as well as many of the other things.
I think that they are just both so cool! Julie is my 2nd fave AG now, next to Felicity, of course!
I am a Mom, and I’m about to get a Julie doll for my daughter for Christmas—our first AG doll. I was only 3 1974, but I had a friend named Julie in the 70s. I think my daughter loves her hair and her cool bed. The second choice was Elizabeth, and someday maybe we’ll get her, too.

I love American Girl, and have 5 of them, including Ivy. I, too, am Chinese, and were hoping for a Chinese doll. This year, my wish came true. Although Ivy does look “not-Asian,” I am just glad that they made her.
I agree that Julie looks like Kailey; she really does!!
I like Ivy, but personally, I don’t like Julie to much. I love my Kailey doll and though there are clear differences between her and Julie, they are way to much the same. I like the time period, so if Julie looked less like Kailey (who I already have) I might have concidered buying her. ***SO EXCITED! FELICITY IS ON HER WAY IN THE MAIL!
