So a bunch of people got an email today from American Girl with a teaser picture of the new historical character, Rebecca.
Basically it is their sneak peek photo that gives us just enough of a look at her face to know she is going to have light brown hair, hazel eyes and a very cool velvet hat. She will be released May 31 and all the American Girl stores will have special events in her honor.

When I was at the Chicago store the employees were hush hush on the details of Rebecca, but I am sure the stores are getting ready for some rearranging to make way for her collection.

Oh My Goodness she is so gorgeous!!!!!! I was already planning on getting her but now I am even more excited than before!!!!!!!!! yay I am selling some of my other doll stuff so i can buy her !!!! super glad i did now!!!! yay!!! one more week!!!!

A custom doll is one that has been customized. Like of you swapped wigs with Kirsten and Julie, you’d have 2 custom dolls.
can you swap eyes on biity baby becasue i want a brown haired blue eye biityy baby. so then i would also have a blond hair brwon eye bitty baby. do peopole buy the custom dolls on craiglist/ebay? and how do you change the wigs ? or eyes, if you can?
There’s a youtube vid on eyeswaps. You take the wig of one doll, and glue it on another. I believe there’s a youtube vid for this too.
Do bitty’s have closing eyes? I think you can only do eye swaps if the eyes close, but I’m not sure.

Ruthie’s curls, definitley. Just more lightly curled. Resembling Chrissa? :\ Sam had suprisingly curly hair, if you wet it and fluffed it. Julie or Josefina face mold I’d say.
I think AG took a risk making a Jewish doll, wouldn’t you agree?

What do you mean by AG took “a risk” by putting out a Jewish doll? What exactly would that risk be? She is a doll capturing the immigrant experience of the early 1900s and also exploring the early movie days. She is historical and beautiful like the other dolls and I cannot imagine why her release would be risky. I am hoping that her release will let girls of all religions see that Jewish girls are a lot like them, just dealing with a few different issues — like different holidays, etc. They could have made the immigrant doll an Italian or another ethnicity, but AG is acknowledging that there are other groups with other beliefs that have truly made a great contribution to the United States. How wonderful!

I agree, but according to those articles, a Jewish comittee read them and approved them, so little to no stereotyping here!

OMG! I really want to get her, but sadly my mom doesn’t want to spend so many money just for a doll so I’m sure that I won’t get her.:( I only have bitty twins. I need to ask you guys a question. I’m going to American Girl Place in Chicago for my birthday and I can get one doll. Should I get Rebecca or a Just Like You doll? I already have Julie and I’m not sure if I want to get another Historical Doll. But I’m 12 and kinda outgrowing American Girl and I’m not sure if I want to get a Just Like You because then I’ll spend a lot of money on it. I love Rebecca and I’d love to have her because she look alot like me but there’s a Just Like You that looks just like me that I’d love to have too. Please answer my question!

Her story is similar to my mother’s father ‘s family who were Russian Jewish immigrants, as well as my father and his family who were Polish Jewish immigrants
Does anyone think that Rebecca looks sort of like Samantha? I do. I mean with the clothes.
