I just got this email from my personal shopper at American Girl Place – it is a list of all the new items and their prices. The American Girl website has been updated and all of these items are on the site. Yes – I took a look at all of it this morning. Its a cute collection, but not sure if any of it is coming to our house though.
I the sixth person I think! EEK! I looked at like 1:00 in the morning, and they were in the middle of updating it.. If you clicked on the GOTY link in the sidebar it would go to Chrissa, but otherwise Lanie was EVERY wherer!
I love Lanies Hammock! The only thing that I don’t like of hers is the trash can. 28$ just for that. I love the new husky Peppers!

Karis- I agree. 28 dollars is enough in this store to buy an outfit, a pet for your dolls, go to the doll hospital…. or buy a stuffed animal in a tacky trash can.

The only three things I really like in her collection(besides the doll of course) is her camper, her accessories, and her hammock. I love the camper, but reallly the only way I could ever afford it would be if I won it from AG or I suddenly got 300 dolllars in the mail from some distant relative.
You realize this is even more than Kit’s treehouse? And this is only for one year too. AG is either going to earn a whole lot or barely anything from these campers/

I’m falling out of love with the camper some. It’s cute, but it’s very expensive and I have very little space in my room for it. I might just fill out my Molly collection then get Lanie later. And Kaya! And the new historical!
I don’t like how half of Lanie’s collection is the matching t-shirts. I wish she just had more complete outfits.

It shows on mine that it comes in SX, S, M, and L.
I didn’t like Lanie that much before because I didn’t like her name (but that’s not really a problem because I can change that!) and I thought her bangs looked really messy and like a young child cut them. However on agplaythings in the forums people have put pictures up of their new Lanie dolls after buying them and their bangs look great! I have to get her now!

You can not get the starter collection at AG stores. You have to get all the stuff sepretly. This means you don’t save 15$. tHE CAMPER IS HUGE. they have to ship it differently and for more money. Pore mail man. My advice is to go to an AG store near you. Some nof the stickers on the camper are way cute. You even get to put them on yourself.
If they have to ship the camper seperately, I’m sure they’ve built the price of shipping into the cost of the camper.

I still want it though. Man, though, I will have to work hard. I am going to the AG store on January 16th- spending all/most of my money there.
Then the camper is 295, so that means, if I want to order it the weekend t=before Thanksgiving, I hav to save every penny of the 220 dollars I get and earn 75 or more dollars extra. Note- that 220 dollars would be from my 5 dollars spending money once a week on Saturdays from Janurary 22 to November 20th. That’s almost a whole year of not spending, plus many a garage sale over the summer. Lets hope I can win it from AG, htat’s all I’m gonna say.

Rachel, I’m not saying that they don’t charge extra for shipping. I am saying that they’re building at least part of the cost of shipping into the $295 to prevent undercharging for shipping. Why? $25.95 will not cover the cost of shipping anything that’s 43 lbs, especially after the cost of packing materials, labor, etc. They wouldn’t sell something that they take a loss on.

Ahhh no! I have Lanie fever! Her starter collection, PJs, Green Tee shirt, and raccoon are now on my wish list! I didn’t like her yesterday or last week, and now I can’t get enough of her! OKay, here is my plan to get Lanie’s collection (at least what I like)
When I go to the AG store for my Birthday, I get hammock, Lanie’s gardening outfit, Lanie’s accessories, and one other item of my choice. Then all year long I save like crazy for the camper, and I buy it sometime like in November. Then I ask for Lanie and a matching girl/doll shirt for Christmas.

At a recent press day for Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas confirmed that there are indeed plans for more American Girl movies in the pipeline.
The next American Girl to see her story make it to film? Julie Albright. “We are developing the Julie character,” Goldsmith-Thomas said, “and we’re doing her as a musical, as a high school musical.”
“We’re going to have all those great songs from the ’70s,” she continued. “Julie: An American Girl Musical. It’s in San Francisco.”
The movie is just in outline form as of now, so Goldsmith-Thomas was unable to confirm much more about it, but she did say the music will include both original songs written for the movie as well as music from the 1970s, and that they intend to do more open auditions like they did for Kit Kittredge. “Oh, you betcha,” she said.

I’ve been to NYC two times, and to Atlanta once. I strongly suggest going to one, Its breathtaking. That, and seeing something with your own eyes is better than AG’s lack of photographic skill.

AG is pretty expensive. It’s totally worth it though! If you think about it, for 95 dollars, you get a doll, a full outfit, and a book. I think the lowest they should sell them for would be 75 dollars. The outfits are a little over priced though. Sometimes my outfits don’t even cost that much, and I’m ten times bigger than a little 18 inch doll!

You’re right, animals and the environment are vital to humans for food supply and health.
I could almost tell you’re in 8th grade. That’s earth sciences year. My teacher tried to infuse all of that global warming bologna into us and we learned about ecosystems and food chains to no end. High school sciences are so much more interesting and fun.
Although the whole which charity to donate to topic would be great for an arguement paper.
Ashleigh, case in point, it takes a special person to donate money to charity over buying something you really want like a doll. I’m sure that the chimp you’re sponsoring is very grateful. As for the oceans and beaches, I love them too.
@ rachel: the camper is pretty big but not huge. i tryed moving it (the wheels do move) and its super heavy.

I got Lanie, she is so pretty, and her bangs don’t look that wierd in real life, they look kind of cute! I was playing wii fit with one of my dolls, Cara and it said she was overweight! Lol it was confused because she was so light, I think. Because there is no way she’s more than 2 pounds and it showed up as 34 lol!
I got my catalog today, and totally fell in love with Lanie. She’s even cuter than Rebecca! I probably won’t be able to buy her, though, because I had already decided with Rebecca that I couldn’t afford another AG doll and 4 were probably enough (Felicity, Elizabeth, Molly, and my Pleasant Day doll Katie).
I really wish I could afford her, though! She is so much like me, loving the outdoors, gardening, and animals. I think it’s cool how AG partnered with the National Wildlife Federation.
I love her collection, although one thing about the camper bothers me. A bed over the sink? Really? I camped for 20 yrs in Michigan and the beds were always on opposite sides, with the bath, kitchen, and dining/sitting area in the middle. But I guess it would have been to big to make it that way.
I’m not too sure about white shorts for gardening, either (although I’ve been known to garden in khakis before). It’s still a cute outfit and an adorable set!

It’s true that her hair isn’t easy to take care of. But if her hair’s messy,
you can put her hair in ponytail,then it looks nice and curly.
I have no problems with my Helena’s hair.
Plastic is capable of weighing 43 pounds, especially if its thick and big.

I have Rebecca and Nicki (her hair is longer) and I avoid messing up their hair by not brushing it.

I think Rebecca’s hair is pretty easy to manage-if you like your doll with their brown curly hair all over her face. I put up her hair with barrets and ponytails and i made two small braids on either side of her face once at a sleepover, and she looks so cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People tell me that Lanie’s hair is easier to manage because it is a little longer and thicker-but wouldn’t that make it harder???

I just got Sonali today-but my aunt ordered her in November and had trouble shipping it, so she managed to retrieve it and bring it in person-a pretty belated Christmas present but I love her!!!!!!!

AGT 21 has honey blonde, Nicki had what can be called honey blonde, and AGT 35 has the same color as Nicki.

Nicki and #21 may look in pictures like they have the same color hair, but they do not. Nicki’s is much more brown and #21 is a strawberry blonde.

in my opinion lanie is a cross between mia and rebecca (and their my favs so its really lucky for me!!!)
she has Mia’s face mold and eyes minus the freckles, and rebecca’s hair in blonde…
i really really like her hammok-probably more then the camper because I doubt ill be allowed to get such an expensive doll-accessory and will probably not use it very often, especially as i get older and the dolls and their clothing become more important.
but it is a lot of fun to use every now and then, just not something I would buy.

Hey guys! I just wanted to tell you that Lanie’s camper is not all plastic. The outside walls, roof, and floors are wood but the inside accessories (kitchen, bed, set, shower) are all plastic. I saw the camper at the AG Place so I know what it’s made of. Lanie’s hammock is made of plastic.

cool, i love easter we all go to my cousins house and have a giant egg hunt but were all hunting for are special colourd eggs.And we each have a special egg with our name on it with 3 bucks in it . also to addition to the fun there are 3 mysterie eggs to find with a ? on it and in it it has those giant cream filled eggs or money and i found all 3 last year but i had to give one away

Lani, flight was horrible. 20 hours, no sleep. On my flight for Frankfurt to Washington DC, there was a small child behind me, and kicked me the entire flight, and would not stop crying. Her parents sang to her, to make it worse. She didn’t stop her wailing.

That’s cool, we are going on a Disney cruise next week. I’ve never been, but I think I will love it. I do love DW, so I think it will be lots of fun.
I went to Disneyland in the 3rd Grade. The rides were great and the food was terrible. It was fun because it was the 50th Anniversary (even though it was 2006) so they had “50″ decorations on the rides and buildings and a cute parade.
I don’t have snow where I live, Sara, but I have a sore throat today. I miss school! At least I have time to actually write my book report, which is due…tomorrow.

Madeline, to be honest, I feel like almost everyone on here is about 11. Even if people aren’t, the “chatspeak” makes them sound like it.
Lena, I couldn’t stand to work at Disney (much less in Florida where’s it’s even more hot and humid). When I went to Disneyland, it was very crowded and noisy.
The pay’s low, the works boring, and the uniforms stink. I work in a store in Magic Kingdom currently, but I keep getting switched. And yes, I’m the Polish one. You have to be at least 16 to work there. And legally speaking, I’m still a kid.
If it helps Madeline, I’m getting my wisdom teeth pulled soon too.
The worst I’ve had done to my teeth was when I had to get two cavities filled. That was years ago, but I still remember how uncomfortable it was!

There is a site called AG Doll Collecting. It has all of the retired AG stuff from like 1986 and up. Its REALLY cool! There are so many older things that I’v never seen.
Karis, it is a great site. I’ve used it for about 6 years. It used to be where I went to see AG news. But then the person who runs it stopped updating the site and dolldiaries opened. It’s still great for reference (although I like Playthings better).

I know it might seem cute now, but you’ll eventually regret cutting your doll’s hair. I did that to my first doll about 10 years ago. The “unhealthy” ends were gone, but she just wasn’t the same. Two years ago, I finally sent her in for a new head.

Lilly, I just got her, so I wasn’t attached to her hair or anything. I like to personalize my girls to make them one of a kind. The short hair just fits her, and I also added some freckles. My 29 also got about an inch or so of her hair cut off when I first got her, Sonali got a new name and new persona, and Nellie and Mia got little things here and there to transform them into twins. I kept Julie pretty much the same, however, as she is my first doll.

Does anyone like the song, “Just Say Yes” by Snowpatrol? It’s one of my favorite songs, besides anything by U2 or Taylor Swift.
Neither doll is particularly “better”. It’s all personal preference. I’ve sold many of both types of dolls and the PM ones just aren’t as appealing to me because they’re old, have faded face paint, etc.
The first three were for when the company was just starting out. They needed big sellers to get the company going. In all honesty, white historical dolls sell better. It wasn’t for awhile before they introduced Kaya, Josefina, and Addy, who have not sold as well.
OMg.. Last night, I was at my Ma’s Boyfriends house.. He said we were going to get a skii jacket. So I got in the Car with him and my mom, and I got Curious.. An HOUR drive just for a SKII jacket?!? He pulled over, I looked up from my phone, and WE WERE AT THE AMERICAN GIRL PLACE!
I was SO excited. He did this because he felt bad about what my Dad did to my sis and I.

For Sam it would have been fashionable to have bangs. For Molly, it could go either way, and Kirsten’s bangs are technically anachronistic, she wouldn’t have had them. It was just cheaper to get the same wig for the first 3 dolls, especially if they didn’t know if AG would catch on.
I noticed that a big problem with some of my curly haired dolls is that their hair is so short in the back that it isn’t even curly until the ends, is this a problem with Lanie???

Lanie is soooo freakin adorable! Oh my goshness! My big sister (she’s 16) has six dolls. Her dolls are Kit, Samantha, Josefina, Ivy, Julie, and Felicity. I have four dolls, Kailey, Marisol, Mia, and Sonali. I want to try and collect all of the GOTYs, but then I’ll have to go on ebay and stuff. My b-day is on Saturday so maybe I’ll get a doll or a giftcard or something!! My b-day was supposed to be March 13th, but I was born super early.

I can see that a Kit doll would not be as exciting for a lot of people-as she’s been around for a while and Lanie’s only here for a year, but my mom teaches Kindergarten and I go down there to play with the kids. They love American Girl Dolls so I bring down Kit and Felicity usually. Out of the two Kit is definitely more popular, and when I showed them Lanie’s picture one said ‘But Kit’s better, because Kit’s pretty and has pretty hair”.

Maria Jones-Similar in looks to JLY with black-brown hair, brown eyes, and light skin, but just with tan skin.
My GOTY idea is a girl who lives overseas-like i did for a point in my life, and donates to charity and spends time at local orphanedges and stuff like that. She could be AA, and her best friend could have a doll who learns to appreciate what she has in life and tries to help the less fortunate. I doubt they’ll make a doll like that any time soon-cause I asked them and they said “Our designers work on both the doll and their story, that is just how our system works. We’d love for you to share your ideas, but with our current system we will not be able to take your ideas” or something along those lines…:(
