My Twinn is Back

My Twinn Doll Beds

The My Twinn The Just Like Me Doll (www.mytwinn.com) doll line has had quite a bumpy road over the course of its existence – most recently when its parent company, The Parent Company, filed for bankruptcy. A New Jersey company bought My Twinn at auction and resumed operations in early spring 2009 and moved to a new facility this summer.

In today’s mail I received true confirmation that the company is back – at least for this holiday season – as their new holiday catalog arrived.

It doesn’t look like too much has changed – you still pick the doll’s skin tone, eye color and hair color and you send in a photo of your child so they can customize the doll as much as possible for you. They have a variety of cute doll clothes but they don’t fit American Girl dolls. However some of the furniture and accessories work just fine for American Girl dolls – I really like the bunk bed with the built in storage.

My Twinn has a new rewards program, too. Get up to $50 in Free Goods! My Twinn The Just Like Me Doll: www.mytwinn.com/freegoods

  2. Lena on October 19th, 2009 3:10 pm

Hmmmm….. me thinks that bed would work for Sam…

  3. Lily on October 19th, 2009 3:46 pm

I just dislike how they photoshop the girls and dolls so much. Their coloring matches perfectly, which is very misleading.

  4. Ashlee on October 19th, 2009 5:21 pm

Char how do you order a catalog? I tried looking on the site but I couldn’t find anything :(

  5. Quinlyn on October 19th, 2009 6:32 pm

Wonderful! :D I got that catalog, too! I am glad that they were bought and didn’t go under!

  6. Anne agfan14 on October 19th, 2009 9:04 pm

I think they are cute dolls! I am glad they are back!

  8. Kelly on October 20th, 2009 9:59 am

Wow! I think My Twinns have lots of, uh, uses, and when I heard that they are having toruble, I was so scared they would close! It has always been my goal to make an American Girl doll family, and the My Twinns would make the perfect parents. I am so glad they are back! I can’t help but add that the pink pajamas look suspiciously like Julie’s Pajamas, or they look suspiciouly like it….

  10. Anne on October 21st, 2009 1:45 pm

    Agreed, Lily.

And that bed looks like Sam’s and the pj’s like Julie’s…interesting.

  11. Lena on October 21st, 2009 2:36 pm

    Points to her comment above^^^

I noticed that too. I think they are trying to comepete with Mattel in making look alike clothes and furniture.

  12. Maggie on October 21st, 2009 6:25 pm

I recently have gotten a magazine too!
I think that these dolls are great as a keepsake.
I know that at least two of my cousins have one, and they are very cute and are accurate in appearance.

  13. Maggie on October 21st, 2009 6:28 pm

Guys, they’re different than Matel. Why fight over it? They are look alike dolls and make stuff that is for you and the doll. They aren’t trying to compte, just trying to sell different things for different girls.

  14. Lena on October 22nd, 2009 3:48 pm

Maggie, Mattel has made millions off of AG, while MT’s gone bankrupt many times over. It definitly is competeing with AG’s AGOT, that’s why they make their products look like AG’s product.

  15. Ava on October 22nd, 2009 8:35 pm

Wow, the doll furnature is huge. ls MyTwinn expensive?

  16. Lena on October 23rd, 2009 6:37 am

Custom MT’s go for about 150$, Ava.

  17. Gracie on October 23rd, 2009 3:21 pm

They are really expensive. By that I mean the dolls. It seems like Our Generation is the cheapest doll company for dolls around that size. My Twinn is copying AG a lot lately……………..

  18. Lena on October 23rd, 2009 7:35 pm

True, but the quality of OG doesn’t begin to compare to AG/MT qaulity. Their hair is horrid, the vinyl is cheap, and they can barely stand by themselves.

My cousin recieved Gwen & 12 for her 8 birthday this year, she previously had only OG. My aunt said there’s no compaison that AGs are higher quality.

And MT quality = AG quality.

  19. Keanna on October 23rd, 2009 7:56 pm

I’ve always wanted an OG doll before. But now, I don’t think I want one.

  20. Ava on October 24th, 2009 11:44 pm

l like to get OG clothing, though.

  21. Maggie on October 25th, 2009 2:20 pm

    Lena, you’re always fighting!

  22. Lena on October 25th, 2009 5:00 pm

I’m not fighting. I’m giving people my opinion on things. I am allowed an opinion.

  23. Lena on October 25th, 2009 5:01 pm

And also giving facts. No where on this post have I ever fought with someone.

  24. Keanna on October 25th, 2009 6:01 pm

I’m debating whether to get a MT or Molly……

  25. brighteyes64 on October 25th, 2009 6:46 pm

keanna-i think you should get molly.

  26. Margaret on October 26th, 2009 12:10 pm

I like that they are back but I think their prices for the vintage dolls are outrageous! My Twinn never charged $200 for a doll before! I’ll reserve judgement on quality until a purchase one from the new company! LOL!

  27. Gracie on October 26th, 2009 5:09 pm

I had an OG doll in 2002 or something.

  28. Gracie on October 26th, 2009 9:51 pm

It’s somewhere in my garage. I’ll try to find it on Sunday or something.

  29. Lily on October 27th, 2009 8:48 pm

Even though My Twinn dolls and outfits/furniture are more expensive than AG, it’s worth mentioning that they’re enormous dolls. Really, they’re big.

  30. Lily on October 27th, 2009 9:12 pm

I also think it’s kind of funny how the doll wearing PJs similar to Julie’s actually looks like Julie with the long blond hair.

  31. Brittany on October 28th, 2009 6:11 pm

The picture kind of looks like AG, Sam and Julie. (I think thats been stated; Im stating it again lol)

  32. Brittany on October 28th, 2009 6:12 pm

    Oops I meant Sam’s bed!

  33. allie on October 28th, 2009 7:17 pm

[...] My Twinn doll line is back and it still has plenty of loyal fans. One of our readers, Lily, has shared some of her My Twinn [...]

  39. Kayleigh (americangirlnews67) on November 11th, 2009 2:24 pm

i dont really like mytwinns..they seem TO realistic. I realize how they show what you look like when your a child, but thats what a picture is for. Also i mean who wants to spend almost $200 on a doll that you’ll gro out of? AGs are a lot better cuz im still in luv with them and they arent as exspensive, also not as creepy either…

  40. Maggie on November 13th, 2009 7:59 pm

Yeah, Lena, you’re very mean sometimes. IT’S A TYPO! OH MY GOSH! wow, someone misspelled a word. big shocker.
