    Firstie~!

WOW. She is SO pretty!!! I am really considering getting here!

Go to the AG forum and I have a poll going. Please help me decide which doll to get!

  2. sarah on June 5th, 2009 4:25 pm

    awwwww! cute!

  3. sarah on June 5th, 2009 4:26 pm

IMO, I really think she looks like Nicki, but hey that’s just me.

  4. Lena on June 5th, 2009 4:29 pm

Her hair’s the same as Nicki’s, only darker.

“community member” for some reason that makes me laugh.

  5. Holly on June 5th, 2009 4:43 pm

    i agree w/ u sarah! i think she does 2

  6. Char on June 5th, 2009 4:44 pm

I know Lena, but you aren’t really just a reader, and I would say we have quite a community of doll fans here ;-) If you can think of a better name, I’ll use it.

Thanks again for sharing these with us.

  7. Lena on June 5th, 2009 4:49 pm

No, I like the name, it just made me smile.

You’re very welcome! It was my pleasure to share these.

  8. Abby on June 5th, 2009 4:50 pm

    WOW LENA!! shes pretty!

  9. Abby on June 5th, 2009 4:59 pm

I feel bad for my friend, Analiese, becasue her mom works at a pizza place, she only gets payed $200 a week and tips. my friend has NO money for an American Girl doll and Im going to girl scouts and she was too but her mom said its to much money and shes like “Mom, its only $45 dollars.”

P.S. I got sunburned from being outside today with my class. also, my school is not out until june 10.

  10. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:03 pm

I feel for your friend, but she has to realize 45$ is a lot. I get paid half of what her mom makes a week, and I have to count every penny to make sure I could afford Rebecca and all her things (didn’t spend for 4 weeks, including meals at work. I brought a snack from home)

Maybe you could give her an American Girl?

  11. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:07 pm

I want to give her a doll, but my mom said there way to expensive to give away. its not that were poor or anything…

  12. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:09 pm

Then maybe you can find a cheep one on Ebay. The really “loved” ones go for as low as 20$, you just have to clean her up a little.

  13. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:11 pm

Hmm….. sounds good except id really wanna keep her. hehe. :)

  14. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:12 pm

Also her birthday is in August….

  15. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:16 pm

HOLY COW! I FOUND A LINDSEY DOLL THAT HAS LESS THEN A DAY UP TO $32 ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  16. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:19 pm

I VERY much suggest buying her if your parents let you. Lindsey’s sell for $200 at the least.

  17. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:21 pm

I know. and I mean less then a day???? also $7.50 for shipping.

  18. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:22 pm

I dont mean to be rude to my friend but….. I want the Lindsey.

  19. Sarah on June 5th, 2009 5:23 pm

sarah- i think she looks like nicki totally!!!!!

  20. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:24 pm

She doesn’t “totally” look like Nicki. Nicki had the original mold, freckles, and blue eyes.

But yes, the wigs is the same, only darker.

  21. Sarah on June 5th, 2009 5:26 pm

lena she is soooo pretty me and my sis (abigail) are gettin her in july or sooner!!!!

  22. Abby on June 5th, 2009 5:28 pm

Sarah thats funny because Abigail is my full name.

  23. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:29 pm

That’s a disappointment. I HATE Nicki’s wig. You can’t do anything with her hair even with a pick. Besides, who naturally has that kind of hair in real life? I definitely prefer Samantha’s nice, thick, curls.

  24. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:31 pm

I do. My hair naturally curls like that.

  25. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:32 pm

It’s final now. I’m getting Julie with her awesome straight and long blond hair plus her birthday outfit. No time to deal with another Nicki!

  26. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:33 pm

Lena, is it impossible to use a brush on your hair?

  27. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:35 pm

I do love the pink movie dress, though.

Have you used a hair pick on her yet?

  28. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:35 pm

No. It undoes the curls a little, but I straighten my hair anyway, so it doesn’t matter much.

  29. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:36 pm

I don’t have a pick, but I’ve used the brush, on one strand at a time, and then finger curled it back. I imagine you’d do the same with the pick.

  30. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:39 pm

Isn’t it a pain to deal with doll hair like that?

  31. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:40 pm

No. I like playing with doll hair, though.

  32. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:41 pm

I wish AG would give a doll really wavy hair. That’s how mine is. I don’t have individual curls, but my hair is super wavy like I use a really wide-barreled crimping iron on it.

  33. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:42 pm

I like playing with doll hair – straight doll hair. That’s a big reason why I’m so set on Julie.

  34. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:43 pm

    Are Julie’s books any good?

  35. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:43 pm

Actually, Kirsten and Molly have that kind of hair, because of the braids.

  36. Lena on June 5th, 2009 5:45 pm

Well, they seem to have forgotten the divorce after book 3, and same with basketball past book 2. They were a little too modern for my taste, but well written, and I enjoyed the historical facts at the end.

  37. Lily on June 5th, 2009 5:48 pm

Yeah, I guess they do. I have Kirsten and Molly, but I’ve never taken out Kirsten’s braids. Molly’s hair is wavy when unbraided. It’s just too much of a pain to braid it back again.

Let me rephrase that comment: I wish there was a doll with wavy, unbraided hair. No more Nicki offshoots!

  38. Anne on June 5th, 2009 7:00 pm

Is Molly and Kaya’s hair originally straight but looks wavy because of the braids. I know Molly’s hair has a slight wave/curl below where the ribbon ties, but the ends of Kaya and Kirsten’s hair is straight. When I steamed my girls hair, Kirsten showed no signs of naturally wavy/curly hair (meaning it was pin-straight), very unlike Samantha, whose hair was still a little wavy even after the steaming.
Oh, and Rebecca is simply stunning, Lena! Congrats on the doll!

  39. sarah on June 5th, 2009 7:14 pm

My mom’s hair is sort of like that, well she’d be lucky if she had THAT good of hair, but hers is curly but more tight curls, but trust me my mom doesn’t look like that. I’ve seen those commercials for you to get hair like that with certain sprays and stuff. Like my mom has curly hair, my dad has curlyish, my brother has sort of a wave if he grows it out like more than 4 inches, but mine is super straight. Almost as straight as Julie’s, but once I use a straightener, its exactly like Julie’s, but mine is definietely not as blonde as hers.

  40. Madeline on June 5th, 2009 7:45 pm

who is that Beckie person everyone keeps talking about?

  41. Caitlin on June 5th, 2009 7:54 pm

Beckie is just a nickname for Rebecca

  42. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:09 pm

I love Julie’s books. Actually, I’ve only read the first two, but I’ve really enjoyed them and I want to read the others. :)
Thanks for sharing the pictures, Lena. Rebecca really is pretty and I like her clothes, too. Did you not get her robe? Just wondering. Also, which of her outfits do you recommend getting first? Or, another way to put it, which do you like best?
Anyway, after I get Chrissa’s Swimsuit for Sonali and Mini Kaya for Mia, I will start saving for Rebecca. I want her more and more!

  43. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:14 pm

My hair is pretty straight, it has some natural waves in it, which I like, but I definitely wouldn’t want really curly hair. Similarly, I wouldn’t like really straight hair. To be honest, it’s always kind of annoyed me how people straighten their hair. It gives it a sort of frizzy look, you know? My hair is a dark brown, the darkness/lightness varies.
As for my dolls, Sonali was my first doll with curly hair and I haven’t really had any problems. Of course, I got her only like two months ago, but curly hair isn’t really an issue and I wouldn’t mind having another doll (Rebecca) with curly hair.

  44. Holly on June 5th, 2009 8:19 pm

my hair is worse than shirley temple naturally. i have 2 straighten it like crazy

  45. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:31 pm

Lily, thanks for backing me up. :)
Usually Doll Diaries is a fun place to come, but occasionally there are people who for some reason or another seem to enjoy picking fights and/or not being nice. Well, that’s okay. We can all have our own opinions, but I’m not in the mood to fight. I just want to say that it’s great, wonderful, lovely that you think I’m stupid, but really, it’s not really nice and I don’t like being called stupid any more than the rest of us. But, I don’t really care because I know it’s not true.

  46. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:32 pm

Okay, good idea, deleting those comments. Let’s talk about something else…

  47. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:34 pm

That stinks, Holly. I only have to deal with moderately wavy hair. To avoid having to straighten it, I put mine in a ponytail. I may start moussing it sophomore year.

Am I the only one bothered by super curly doll hair? It looks really pretty until it gets tangled. Don’t get me wrong, I love Rebecca and Nicki. Their hair is just more demanding than, say, Felicity’s. I love her hair. So smooth and silky. I just wish it was more red like it was in the 1990’s.

  48. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:37 pm

Felicity’s hair isn’t really red anymore, is it? It’s more of an auburn color. I wish there was an AG doll with carrot red hair. Mia’s was too blondish to count as carrot red, although I love her hair. I never figured out how to get her cool braid back that she came with.

  49. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:37 pm

Would you consider Sonali’s hair to be super curly or only moderately? Super curly hair doesn’t really bother me, but of course, you can’t do as much with it as you can with dolls with straight hair. Then again, layered hair is also limiting.

  50. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:39 pm

I don’t have Sonali (yet, atleast) so I wouldn’t know. Lena has Sonali so I’m sure she’d know. And I totally agree about not being able to do as much with super curly hair . . . that’s why I’m getting Julie this summer! Her hair looks so silky and perfect.

  51. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:41 pm

Starr, I’d get her school outfit first, only because I like it best. And no, I didn’t get the robe, because I really don’t like it.

  52. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:41 pm

Sonali has very moderate curly hair.

  53. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:42 pm

Char, thanks for deleting mean comments (even though a few were mine when I was in a bad mood. . .oops!) Hopefully if and when a certain user is back she’ll be respectful of everyone who comments on this site.

    Starr, no problem :)

  54. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:43 pm

    Lena, you’re back!

  55. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:43 pm

Yes, Julie’s hair does look like it’d be very good for styling…I also love a lot of her outfits. I used to want Julie, but my dolls decided I had enough blondes/redheads and needed more brunettes. Actually, I did. :)
I have Sonali, but I was just wondering how you would classify her hair. Hold on, let me go get her…Back. Her hair is mostly wavy, curly on the ends. I’m not sure if it is as curly as Rebecca’s, because it is longer. I don’t think it’s as curly as Nicki’s but I may be mistaken.

  56. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:44 pm

I like Rebecca’s movie outfit best. It’s so pink and interesting looking. Don’t get me wrong, her school outfit is still very attractive. I love the blue.

  57. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:45 pm

Yep, I went for a walk.

    Definatly not Nicky curly.

  58. pioneerfan04 on June 5th, 2009 8:45 pm

thnx lena! i got becca’s movie outfit too, but i didnt hav enuf $ savd up 4 her school outfit 2

  59. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:46 pm

From what you’ve described, Sonali’s hair is not near as curly as Nicki’s. Be glad!

  60. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:47 pm

Yeah, I would probably have to agree. Plus I think its longer than Nicki’s.
It seems like everyone loves the school outfit best, but I’m not as taken with it as everyone else. Yet. We’ll see….What do you think of her pajamas, Lena?

  61. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:49 pm

I can take a comparison of Nali and Beckie.

  62. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:50 pm

I like them (even more that I have her PJ”s for me) but I wishe they weren’t one piece. It’s very hard to put on.

  63. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:50 pm

Cool. Could you post it on your LiveJournal? What I really want to see is a comparison photo of Mia and Rebecca, but I know you don’t have Mia.

  64. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:51 pm

I agree with you on the school outfit, Starr!

  65. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:53 pm

What’s your favorite doll of the year? Least favorite?

    a. Lindsey
    b. Kailey
    c. Marisol
    d. Jess
    e. Nicki
    f. Mia
    g. Chrissa (Gwen and Sonali not included)

  66. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:53 pm

Yeah…I like her movie dress a lot though. I really like her pajamas & robe, but no one else seems to as much. To each his own, I guess! I think the robe is really cute….but that’s me.

  67. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:55 pm

My favorite Girl of the Year? Hmm….I feel somewhat obligated to say “Mia” because I have her. I really love her, but Jess is just so pretty! And I love Marisol and her dance things. So I would say, Mia, Jess or Marisol. Probably one of the first two…I would like a Jess someday, perhaps….

  68. Lena on June 5th, 2009 8:57 pm

GOTY 1. Nali, but she doesn’t count so…
    2. Jess.

  69. Lily on June 5th, 2009 8:58 pm

I actually love Rebecca’s pajamas and robe too. Unfortunately, they’re $48 combined – yikes!

Mia’s my favorite. I love her outfits. I have Jess and Nicki also. Sometimes I wish I could exchange them for Julie and Rebecca, but I’d never get rid of them. I’d probably regret it.

  70. Starr on June 5th, 2009 8:59 pm

Yes, I love Sonali too! Mine’s right next to me! I really hope she get’s another outfit….*crosses fingers* I plan on getting Chrissa’s Swimsuit for her, ‘cuz she’s on the swim team, too!

  71. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:00 pm

I knew you’d say Sonali, Lena, so that’s why she’s not a choice :) I love her too, don’t worry!

Jess is a nice doll. I’ve never unbraided her hair and I wish she had more outfits. Her face mold is pretty.

  72. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:01 pm

I love the Jess face mold. I wish they had a historical with it! Besides Ivy…Because I really want a doll with the Jess face mold, but since I have four modern dolls to one historical doll, I want to even that out. Rebecca will help. She’ll probably be my last doll, but you never know!

  73. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:02 pm

Posted to my LJ, will delete soon.

  74. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:03 pm

How about your least favorite girl of the year? Mine is Lindsey, hands down. No wonder she didn’t sell well. But again, that was style from 2001, which is kinda not really recent. Her clothes was probably designed in 1999 or 2000, so her style is easily 10 years old. I’m surprised people are busting out $300 for her on eBay. To each his own. Her face is cute, though.

I really regret not buying Kailey. I love her hair and swimsuit. If she wasn’t so expensive, I’d buy her off of eBay. I may end up buying one in poor condition and sending her to the doll hospital.

  75. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:03 pm

Accodring to my PS, no new outfits for Nali. Oh, well. I can get Chrissa’s.

  76. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:04 pm

Thanks for posting that, Lena! Rebecca’s hair looks really light next to Sonali’s! And more curly, definitely. (Rebecca’s hair, I mean.)

  77. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:05 pm

Actually, search for “american girl blonde brown eyes” it’s surprising how cheap you can buy a Kailey like that.

    Chrissa. She seems too plain.

  78. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:05 pm

I saw the pictures you put up, Lena. Rebecca’s hair looks exactly like Nicki’s. Granted, I didn’t drag my Nicki over for a side by side comparison.

Sonali’s hair looks nice, long, and wavy. . . just how I like it!

  79. Selena on June 5th, 2009 9:06 pm

hmmm…. well I’d prob have to say Jess, b/c her story was absolutely my fav (for GOTYs, i mean) and I really liked her meet outfit and pjs lol!! Except the strap on her pjs for me (that sounds funny!) is ripping.. =( Marisol was a lot like me (dancing, i took all except folk) and Kailey’s meet outfit was pretty (I begged for her but ended up w/ nels) and Mia was just incredibly like me (st. CLAIR , 3 bros etc; i could go on!) sooooo…..

  80. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:06 pm

No offense, but I think Kailey is my least favorite GOTY. I mean, she’s okay, but her hair has always seemed a bit weird, and she never looks that special, I guess. I love her outfits, the few she has. I don’t really know about the doll, though, I don’t really know…

  81. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:08 pm

Chrissa is really plain. I guess AG thought that they could make a really simple, inexpensive doll to manufacture by putting her in a printed dress. I’m still going to get her, though. Buying the GOTY is kind of a tradition I have and I’d probably regret it if I didn’t buy her. Atleast her hair looks easy to style. And I think I’ll give in and buy Sonali and Gwen eventually. . . they’re pretty and I’d probably end up regretting passing them up for a possibly unattractive GOTY 2010.

  82. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:10 pm

Starr, none taken! We all have our own opinons I’ve seen her in person and I like the sun-kissed blond, Hawaiian (is that how you spell it) concept. It’s kind of funny how similar her collection is to Jess’s.

  83. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:12 pm

Kailey was from California, but that is how you spell Hawaiian.

  84. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:15 pm

I never read Kailey’s book, but I know it takes place in Hawaii. Is her book good? And she actually is a little cheaper on eBay than I thought she was. I want her whole collection, which would probably be expensive. A NIB Kailey would be preferable, but that’d be waaaaaay too expensive.

  85. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:16 pm

Heh, heh, I’m looking at AG stuff on Ebay now…I have no intentions to buy anything (right now) but it’s fun just browsing….
Answer me this, why would anyone want to buy a Gwen doll for $160 off eBay when they could get the same doll for $95 from American Girl??? There is some silly stuff out there…

  86. Selena on June 5th, 2009 9:16 pm

dang it!! Did u already take down the pics lena???

either chrissa or lindsey… i hardly even knew about AG and she sorta came in a… different meet outfit, w/ not too many (were there any) extra outfits… chrissa is just…. not very exciting… she’s OK, but not even any accessories??? Mia was WAY more exciting!!

    bouna notte!!!
going 2 watch “get smart” than g2 wake up early for a susan g. komen race 4 the cure!

  87. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:17 pm

Lily, um, I’m pretty sure Kailey is from California, too.

  88. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:21 pm

She lives in California. I’m looking at her book.

Yeah, I’ll put it up again on my Twilight post.

Because some people are stupid enough to buy from there.

  89. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:21 pm

I saw a Kailey doll that looks in pretty good shape for $52, but it will probably go up….just letting you know.

  90. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:21 pm

Maybe she is . . . it’s been a few years since I last looked at a 2004 catalogue. Oops! Wow, I just saw a Kailey doll and her whole collection for only $100. I wish I’d seen her first, but right now I’m saving extra for Julie and possibly Rebecca.

  91. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:26 pm

Some people pay ridiculous prices for stuff on eBay. I’ve personally never gotten anything AG except for Nicki’s shorts/t-shirt outfit off of eBay. It is a great source for lots of out of print books, and hand made doll outfits. I got a pretty My Twinn doll for $50 (including shipping) from eBay and I have 5 really pretty and relatively inexpensive handmade dresses that I found on eBay as well.

Just hoping you’re not calling me stupid for using eBay, Lena :)

  92. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:27 pm

No, I use ebay myself. I meant I find it stupid to pay more for something that’s still available from the company that makes it (like Gwen).

  93. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:28 pm

I probably won’t get Kailey anytime soon. Maybe once I’ve gotten Chrissa, Sonali, Gwen, Julie, Rebecca, Emily, and Ruthie. . . that’s a lot of dolls! Looks like Kailey will be slated to be my 20th or 21st doll. That’s kind of too many, though.

  94. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:30 pm

Just making sure. People are dumb if they buy Gwen for $160. That’s a die-hard eBay fan right there. An ignorant one, at that.

  95. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:31 pm

I’ve seen worse. When Sam was still available, but after the archival announcment, I say her go for 300 in ebay.

  96. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:39 pm

Yeah. The Samantha prices skyrocketed after her archival.

  97. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:41 pm

Amazing how much people will spend for an originally expensive doll. Heck, I may end up never getting Kailey. I like getting my AG dolls NFRB directly from AG. My Twinn is different.

Emily or Ruthie? I love both and I already have Em’s PJs and robe. I also have Kit and Molly. They need their friends! I also want to read Emily and Ruthie’s books.

  98. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:42 pm

    I personaly prefer Emily.

But that was BEFORE she sold out!

  99. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:43 pm

I’m starting to doubt Sonali and Gwen again . . . I wish they came with their own stories instead of that silly “Friends” book. AG should’ve made them $10 cheaper and not included that.

  100. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 9:43 pm

are they really archiving another character?
isn’t that why they archived sam’s collection, to sell her and her items really fast, huge profit?

  101. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:43 pm

    Emily sold out??? What?

  102. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 9:44 pm

    emily sold out?

  103. Starr on June 5th, 2009 9:44 pm

I thought they archived Sam to make room for Rebecca, because some of their things would be too alike and I guess there just wasn’t room for all the dolls, so someone had to go….

  104. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:44 pm

I guess you mean her mint green dress was retired? I really liked that one. Emily is still available on the AG website. I just checked.

  105. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:45 pm

I’m pretty sure Samantha was retired to make room for Rebecca.

  106. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 9:46 pm

    rebecc’as things look nice.

  107. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:48 pm

That probably is why she was archived.

  108. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:49 pm

No, I meant I like Emily.

SAM I saw sell for 300 on ebay before she was even sold out form AG.

  109. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:50 pm

They’ll get new stocks of Emily, trust me

  110. Holly on June 5th, 2009 9:50 pm

lena- what do u mean sold out?

  111. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:50 pm

Okay, that makes much more sense. I accidentaly connected comments from different paragraphs. Oops!

I bet Samantha was even on the same assembly line as Rebecca!

  112. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:53 pm

Don’t be fooled of the so called “low” prices for a AG doll on ebay. Sure it could be 20 bucks on the last hour, but right before the time is up, is right when the bidders bid. I’ve done it soooooo many times before and its the same for every one of the items. A kit doll I bid on was about 16$ and the last day it went up to about 85 for a used one!! I have no idea why that is when you can get the same kit doll WITH AN OUTFIT for only 5 dollars more and she’s new! She wasn’t even PM.

  113. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:53 pm

I hope they get rid of Kaya, Addy, or Joesfina. . . or all three! I’m not being racist; I just dislike their collections and I can’t relate at all to their stories. Addy’s were kinda interesting. Maybe they’ll make a Lousiana purchase doll if they just trademarked 3 French names.

  114. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:53 pm

i mean no longer for sale….?

  115. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:54 pm

No Kit dolls are PM. Mattel took over in 1998 and Kit was released in 2000.

  116. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:54 pm

Ooooh, Lily I got a gorgeous My Twinn doll on ebay for about the same price =) too!

  117. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:54 pm

    Kit was never PM.

I like Addy, Josefina, and Kaya. It’s Mattel’s fault they have no collections, the used to have really nice ones.

  118. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:55 pm

no she is still for sale, just out of stock. You will just be forced to wait until more emily’s come in

  119. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:55 pm

I have 3 My Twinn dolls. One that looks like me, one that looks like my sister, and the one I got from eBay.

  120. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:55 pm

Emily was never sold out!!! Lily took my meaning wrong.

  121. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:56 pm

i thought kit came out in the 90’s? guess not

  122. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:56 pm

2000 was when Kit came out, she was the first after Mattel took over.

  123. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:57 pm

    quote: I personaly prefer Emily.
But that was BEFORE she sold out! :end quote

well it sounds to me like you said she was sold out. Then what the heck are you talking about?

  124. Char on June 5th, 2009 9:57 pm

Lily – take pictures of your MyTwinn dolls and email them to me at share@dolldiaries.com. We don’t have nearly enough pictures of MyTwinn and other lines. That goes for everyone, this isn’t just about American Girl dolls (although they do kind of dominate this site ;-) )

  125. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 9:58 pm

i read a coment on anothoer board that said they were retiring molly. is that true at all? i would tink its a little soon to do that, and they dont have a replacement. and her collection is importnat? partiotic? idk.

  126. sarah on June 5th, 2009 9:59 pm

oh gosh, i hope they don’t retire molly! I don’t think they will……..

  127. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 9:59 pm

is american gilr doll more popular?

  128. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:59 pm

There’s a reason there was a big space there. Different paragraphs. I meant Sam.

Char, i can send in pictures of my LOF girls.

  129. Lily on June 5th, 2009 9:59 pm

I liked Kaya’s today outfit with the red cape and the fringe. The vibrant colors were nice. Her face mold is kind of interesting. I like the no teeth.

Josefina did used to have a nice collection. I never particularly liked any of her outfits, but I can’t remember them all.

I loved Addy’s pink Cape Town dress. That was perfect 1860s style. I also like her purple Sunday Best dress . . . that one is still available.

Overall, there are a few components that I liked of each doll, but I wouldn’t buy a doll for a single outfit that probably sells for expensive prices on eBay.

  130. Lena on June 5th, 2009 9:59 pm

    They are NOT ARCHIVING Molly.

  131. Char on June 5th, 2009 10:00 pm

Lena – please do! But do me a favor, include some info on the dolls with the pictures (names, where you get them, why you like them, etc) – that will make it more interesting.

  132. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:01 pm

Char, I’d be more than happy to send pictures of the My Twinn dolls! I’m expecting another colonial My Twinn outfit in the mail tomorrow, so I’ll make sure to take pictures of that too.

  133. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:01 pm

    Sure Char!

  134. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 10:01 pm

i didnt think that sounded right, about molly, its just on the rebecca making headlines somsone said that somone else confirmed it. sorry fo that annoying question.

  135. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:01 pm

    what are LOF dolls?

  136. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:03 pm

    Life of Faith

  137. Char on June 5th, 2009 10:04 pm

Lily – that would be great.

Just an FYI – I will be gone most of the weekend – my daughters have a two day swim meet this weekend. Keep the comments nice so I don’t have too much to delete when I get home :-)

  138. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:05 pm

Thank goodness they aren’t archiving Molly. World War II is such an important time in American history and I can’t see who’d they replace her with. Molly was my first historical doll. Her books are wonderful and many of her outfits (retired, expensive ones included :( ) are so gorgeous. I also haven’t gotten the chance to buy Emily yet. I really loved her in Happy Birthday, Molly.

I think people are saying Molly is being archived since components from her collection have been recently. Her nighstand and accessories, recital outfits, etc.

  139. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:05 pm

I’ll do my best, Char :)

  140. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:06 pm

I’m having… (TMI)… and am pretty much bedridden, so I’ll be on all day. Don’t worry, if the comments get bad, I’ll tell them to stop, I pretty much have a hang of what’s deleted from here and what’s not.

  141. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 10:08 pm

so they retired some of her things? its annoying when they do that.

  142. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 10:11 pm

    feell better

  143. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:12 pm

Sorry you’re bedridden becuase of certain issues, Lena. I can’t relate, but you have my sympathy. That’ll probably turn into empathy soon. I’m a distance runner, so maybe that’s why I don’t have issues. Exercise is suppossed to help some.

I just checked out the Life of Faith dolls. They’re adorable. The outfits are pricey, but everything is so beautiful and detailed!

  144. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 10:13 pm

are the dolls as much as ag?

  145. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:13 pm

Okay, that comment will probably be deleted, or atleast part of it. Sorry, Char! I promise will be on my best, nicest, cleanest behavior while you’re gone!

  146. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:13 pm

I love the LOF clothes. And none of the ones I have use velcro, they all have snaps. Except the shoes, but those don’t snag har.

  147. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:14 pm

They’re $100, but their outfits are sooooo detailed. I just glanced at it for a second before returning to doll diaries. I’m going to got look at it again before turning in for the night.

  148. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:15 pm

they are $99 each for a life of faith doll, but you can buy them at any Family Christian Store.

  149. Lena on June 5th, 2009 10:16 pm

They have a lot of discounts, both on the LOF site, and in FCS.

  150. Lily on June 5th, 2009 10:20 pm

Oh no! Now I’m going to want those dolls too! Eeeeek!

Thanks for the info, Lena. I’m so surprised I’ve never heard of those dolls before. They have enormous collections.

  151. chrysanthamum on June 5th, 2009 10:39 pm

is lof just not as much adveritesed? are the books really good?

  152. AG&FAN on June 5th, 2009 11:11 pm

Wow! That’s so cute! Do you have Rebecca’s robes?

And which is your favorite outfit?

And one thing I want to ask-why come there is 2 authors for Samantha’s books? I wonder why AG didn’t use first author for whole entire series, not first author AND Valerie Tripp.

  153. Sara on June 6th, 2009 12:17 am

Hi guys! Wow!! I haven’t been on forever have I? I had to go to my brother’s graduation, then we went out to eat, then I watched Mary Poppins (again! :) ) So, what’s new? Lovely pix Lena!!

  154. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 12:32 am

My favorite girl of the year is Mia. I don’t have Mia,but I love her story, and her things. She’s first sporty girl to be in AG,yes, probably. Because none of girls have their mind for sport,or was in some big contest or anything, like when Mia was in Regionals(the winter festival dosen’t count, since it included no competing.)

  155. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 1:28 am

dosn’t samantha’s books have three authors?

  156. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:06 am

LOF isn’t as well known as AG. But they are VERY well made and pretty, and the books were very well written and made me cry (something AG hasn’t managed to do).

AG&FAN, there were 3 authors, and I really don’t know. No, I don’t like the robe. My fave is her school outfit.

Felicity’s sporty, and so is Julie.

  157. bookworm981225 on June 6th, 2009 8:09 am

    hello isnt rebecca awesome

  158. Lena on June 6th, 2009 8:24 am

    Yes she is.

  159. Lily on June 6th, 2009 9:25 am

Lena, which LOF dolls and outfits do you have? How about the books? I’m hooked so later this summer I think I’ll get Millie and her special occasion dress. Blue is my favorite color.

I can’t believe how expensive some of the LOF outfits are, even if they’re three times as detailed as AG. All of the components of Violet’s “elegant walking suit” cost $110. Wow. It is very pretty and super detailed, though.

Suddenly I’m not a big fan of Chrissa at all anymore . . . or Gwen or Sonali. I almost feel like passing those three up for Julie, LOF Millie and Elsie.

  160. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:28 am

I have Elsie and Laylie, and have read half of Elsie’s book, Laylie’s book, and all of Kathleen’s books.

  161. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 9:29 am

only one of the ag books have made me cry, and that was the meet kirsten one, when marta died.

  162. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:31 am

Addy’s Meet book did make me want to retch. That part with the worm…. *shudders*

  163. Lily on June 6th, 2009 9:43 am

Which dolls do you like better, Lena, LOF or AG? Like I said before, I like the LOF dolls better since they’re so pretty and detailed, but they’re so expensive. . . $110 for an outfit, really? Quality has a price. Atleast some of the less expensive complete outfits are around $40.

  164. Starr on June 6th, 2009 9:44 am

It’s sad in one of Felicity’s books when her grandfather died. I think I may have cried when that happened…..

I think my favorite LOF dolls are Violet and Kathleen. But Laylie is really cute too.

  165. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:46 am

I’s have to say it’s a tie. Some qaulities of AG I like better (like the huggablilty), but the LOF girls are so well painted and look very good in tank tops (because they are all vinyl)

  166. Lily on June 6th, 2009 9:48 am

I’d buy Violet first if all of her pretty outfits weren’t over $70. I like all of the dolls, though. Kathleen’s face mold is so cute. I’m going to get Elsie and Millie first because I love their outfits. Laylie only has 1 or 2. Is she being retired or something?

  167. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 9:49 am

oh ya, starr! i remember that part in the felicity book! i wanted to burst into tears. i was only 8 then, tho, but i remember crying my eyes out at the meet kirsten book.

  168. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:49 am

No, Laylie always had that little, mainly because she is a slave most of her story (but escapes with the help of Millie)

  169. Lily on June 6th, 2009 9:51 am

So are all of the dolls related in some way? I know Violet is Elsie’s daughter and Millie helped Laylie escape? What else?

  170. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:54 am

They are all realted somehow to Elsie. Millie is her second cousin, and she’s friends with Laylie. Violet is her daughter. Elsie has a great aunt named Wealthy, that Kathleen’s grandmother know.

  171. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:00 am

I don’t want Rebecca anymore. I still like her movie dress, but her meet outfit and accessories are becoming less and less attractive. That shawl looks in Lena’s pictures like it’s the color of dark mustard . . . yuck.

  172. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:01 am

Hey, that frees up more money for the LOF girls’ super expensive outfits!

  173. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:08 am

It’s the lighting. It’s more of a gold color.

  174. Anne on June 6th, 2009 10:17 am

My least favorite GOTY was Mia. I liked the idea they were going for and all, but as a skater, I found her story most impossible. First, very few ten-year-olds have the double lutz – it is considered by many to be the hardest jump and you certainty can’t do it after a year of skating only – that is near-impossible talent. If she did have that talent (for example, Johnny Weir landed a single axel after only two days on the ice), she would have been taken out of her normal life and trained her constantly for the Olympics or something. Second, Regionals is a pretty big event. Girls don’t train one year only for it; they work and work and work for many, many, many years just to compete there. These are only two specific examples, but I felt that the books made skating seem easy and that the moves come quick and it’s a happy environment all of the time, among other things. News flash: rink life isn’t always happy-go-lucky and it can take years of work to master a single element. And you aren’t going to love your sport or want to be on the ice ALL the time – trust me, I know.. I have a feeling that they only made her a skater because little girls would love the “pretty sport and pretty dress.” Skating was made to look like a simple, easy sport and I can’t stand for that. They have no idea what work goes into each and every element. You don’t get on the ice every day with a smile – there are so many challenges that go far beyond the difficult work of mastering a skill. I felt that the story was appealing to little girls but not an accurate representation of the sport at all. That saddened me.
But the doll was very cute and the message was a very good one. I’m just being picky because I know that the story could have been more realistic and could have given the sport of figure skating some justice. Sorry for the rant – just had to get that out of my system.

  175. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:18 am

I think LOF dolls are what I’ve always been looking for. I love the detail and quality . . . they’re like AG’s more attractive cousins.

  176. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:21 am

I understand, Anne. Mia kind of flew through her problems too easily. She’s still my favorite GOTY, inaccuracies aside. I don’t judge based on how accurate their books are, though. You don’t display a book; you display the doll. That’s what I base my opinions on.

  177. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:22 am

My LOF’s are actually friends with my AGs, as are my Karito Kids, only they are older, 13 or 14.

  178. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:23 am

I have to agree with Anne. I have her outfits, but Mia herself was a little too good at it.

  179. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:24 am

And I totally agree with sports not being happy-go-lucky. They’re not fun half the time; they’re hard work and sometimes you hate it more than anything. Try running 5 miles into 20 mph wind as fast as you can – that’s what made me hate running. I still do it, though.

  180. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:26 am

I also like how LOF books take place over many years, even when the girls are married (hence their name: life of faith). I can’t wait to read their books and see the dolls in person.

  181. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:27 am

Tae Kwon Do. It’s fun beacue every one’s like family, but when you have to throw 10 roundhouse kicks at once, it’s ends up with you waking up in the middle of the night with every muscle in your body in pain.

  182. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:27 am

    Breakfast time . . . I’ll be back soon.

  183. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:28 am

Yeah, except Kathleen’s (1 year) and Laylie’s (starts when she’s 7, skips 3 years, then continues).

  184. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:39 am

Kathleen’s is only 1 year? She has the cutest face mold but not that many pretty outfits.

  185. Sara on June 6th, 2009 10:41 am

Who’s Kathleen and Laylie? What have I missed?

  186. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:44 am

They’re Life of Faith dolls: historical Christian dolls with books. They’re 18″, $100, and have lots of outfits, which range from around $40 up to $110.

  187. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:44 am

whew!!! Just got back from my “race for the cure” 5K it was SO anoying all these ppl got in the way!! walking!! My time was like 37 min or something (NOT trying to brag) so it was a little better than last yr (49 lol!) . They had a bunch of cool free stuff, and NASTIA LUIKIN (spelling?) was there!!!!!! It was really neat!!

Lily, you HAVE to read the Millie books!!! She’s not my fav doll (a tie b/w elsie and violet) but her stories are probably my favorite. then again I’ve only read 1 of elsie’s, and 2 of violet’s, but millie is a MUST read. My bff in FL has mille and violet, and her sis has laylie (GREAT story, btw) and elsie, so that’s how i know.

    going to take a shower…

wait!! I’m a skater, and heck! I’m no were near a double lutz!! If she could master it, then she’d be pulled out for USA’s oylimpic (spelling) secret weapon!

  188. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:45 am

    wow. that was long.

  189. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:49 am

Thanks for the tip, Selena. I was going to buy Millie first anyway so I’m glad her stories are the best.

I forgot, how many miles are in the 5K?

  190. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:59 am

I just looked it up for myself and it’s 3.125 miles. Not bad, Selena! I hope I never have to race the 5K. During XC and track season, my time would probably be around 20 minutes . . . not trying to brag either :) , but that’s what my coach would expect.

  191. Lena on June 6th, 2009 11:00 am

I’d just like to point out LOF’s are taller than AG’s. They are 18 3/4 inch.

  192. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:05 am

I accidentaly left that out. I love bigger dolls. That’s why I have three My Twinn dolls: they’re 23″.

  193. Lena on June 6th, 2009 11:09 am

I love my Karito Kids. They are 21 in, perfect for older siblings/friends.

  194. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:11 am

I don’t have any Karito Kids. They’re pretty, but too much of a play doll. I like the frilly, collectible looking ones like LOF.

  195. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:13 am

I’m starting to see pictures of LOF outfits that aren’t avaiable on the website. Have a lot of LOF outfits been retired?

  196. Lena on June 6th, 2009 11:17 am

No, only some have. Not as much as AG retires

  197. Lena on June 6th, 2009 11:18 am

See, I make outfits for my KKs, and they too have become historicals.

  198. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:19 am

I want to start making clothes for My Twinn. I just don’t know how to get historical patterns.

  199. Lena on June 6th, 2009 11:22 am

There’s a resource on here for historical patterns.

K, I have to leave, cause there’s a storm here, and my mom’s yelling to get off the computer. Plus, the laptop’s battery’s low.

  200. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:22 am

It’d be fun to make antebellum outfits with hoop skirts for My Twinn.

  201. Lily on June 6th, 2009 11:23 am

K, by Lena! Hope the storm clears up. I need to go too. I’ve been spending way too much time on DD since school let out. I need to read.

  202. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 12:04 pm

i wanna get the LOF dolls millie and elsie. they are soo pretty!

  203. kylie on June 6th, 2009 12:27 pm

Is her hair really hard to take care of?

  204. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 12:28 pm

i like ag dolls better than lof, IMO, but maybe i’ll buy a lof doll soon…. i just LOVE LOVE LOVE millie and her wardrobe! she is so pretty! i love her riding outfit best! and her prairie picnic outfit also! i wanna read her books, and maybe the next 2 dolls i buy will be an ag and her. if i had to pick any lof doll, i would pick millie.

  205. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 12:28 pm

    kylie- who’s hair?

  206. kylie on June 6th, 2009 12:35 pm

i mean rebecca’s hair, is it like nicki’s

  207. Lily on June 6th, 2009 12:39 pm

    When I was 12, I wasn’t too fast of a runner, either!

  208. Lena on June 6th, 2009 12:50 pm

Easy for me, but I’m close to being an adult and know how to get curls back. If you have trouble with hair or are young, I’d suggest and doll woth easier to care for hair.

  209. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:05 pm

    What’s your favorite LOF doll?

  210. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:08 pm

    Elsie.

  211. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 1:09 pm

    i’ve decided 2 get millie!

  212. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:23 pm

I’m not sure. I love Millie’s outfits, but I’m not crazy about her starter dress. I love Kathleen and her starter outfit, but I’m not crazy about her outfits.

I’ll push this out of my mind for a while and decide in a few months.

  213. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 1:29 pm

Do you know any AG character who was leaked?

  214. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:31 pm

So, let me ask this. How about just getting Kathleen, then dressing her in Millie’s outfits, and re naming her?

I just did this with Beckie. I dressed her in Kirsten’s meet outfit, and am calling her Mary. Until she switches time periods again.

  215. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:33 pm

Chrissa was leaked because stored put out her movie early, Rebecca was leaked because someone tried to sell the doll on Craiglist….

  216. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 1:34 pm

there was a storm here a couple nights ago. it didnt’ last to long. it was nice and sunny andt hen it got really overcast and windy and rained really hard wit thunder and lightning. that isn’t common here at this time.

  217. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:38 pm

Thanks for the advice, Lena. I like to dress my dolls in the outfits the company designs especially for them, though. I actually love all of the LOF dolls – it’s not just between Kathleen and Millie. It’ll be really hard to decide which dolls and outfits to get – if I get any outfits.

What does “Chrissa was leaked because stored put out her movie early” mean? I have a feeling you just made a typo, Lena.

  218. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 1:43 pm

Ana is like one person(BF) in AG-Nellie. Nellie was poor, and so is Ana… I think AG should’ve made Rebecca’s hair different, too. It should’ve been darker. I think that’s why Ana looks same as Beckie! (PS.Rebecca’s books are funny and cute.)I’m reading chapter five of Rebecca and Ana right now-it’s so sad that Ana is going to move to tenement building(I have one question. Why come Ana’s family does not join Beckie’s family for hannaukah(I don;t really know. I just looked through pages of Candlelight book.),and I think Rebecca has kittens- but which book do they appear? Maybe it’s Mr.Rossi’s?

  219. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:47 pm

It means was leaked because store put out her movie early. They out it out in December, with a little flyer that showed her, Gwen, and Sonali.

The kittens belong to Mr Rossi.

  220. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:48 pm

Okay, just checking for clarification :)

So stores released her DVD in December with a flyer that showed pictures of the Chrissa, Gwen, and Sonali dolls?

  221. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:49 pm

    Yep.

  222. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:50 pm

Did they ever catch the person who gave the Rebecca doll to the person who sold her on Craigslist early?

  223. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:51 pm

    Violet or Kathleen?

  224. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:52 pm

No, people who’s family work for AG do get dolls early. I didn’t get one because my cousin works in the JLY department, and couldn’t get one for me early…. although I did see pictures of her before you guys did.

  225. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:52 pm

    Violet.

  226. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:53 pm

Are they suppossed to not sell the dolls on the internet before the official release, or can they do whatever they want with them?

  227. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:54 pm

They can do what they want.

  228. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:54 pm

I love Violet (and her super expensive dresses) but Kathleen has the sweetest doll face I’ve ever seen.

  229. Starr on June 6th, 2009 1:55 pm

Violet and Kathleen are my favorite, too! I don’t think I’m going to get any LOF dolls any time soon, but those two are my favorite. Dolls, I mean. I haven’t read their stories.

  230. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:56 pm

How soon before the actual release can employees get the dolls? Sorry for pestering you with questions – atleast I’m not asking for spoilers :) . . . am I?

  231. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:57 pm

I love all the stories. They’re very well written, and so sad at times!

  232. Emma on June 6th, 2009 1:57 pm

These pics are so cute! My fave Rebecca outfit is the school one. Whats yours, Lena?

  233. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:57 pm

I think a month, but I’m not sure.

  234. Lily on June 6th, 2009 1:57 pm

I don’t really have a favorite LOF doll. After all, I only heard about them yesterday (thanks, Lena!) Eventually, it’d be great to get all of them, Of course, I may have to sacrifice Gwen, Sonali, and Chrissa. Should I? I have plenty of time to decide, anyway.

  235. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:58 pm

    Same as yours, Emma.

  236. Lena on June 6th, 2009 1:59 pm

I would. LoF’s teach a very good lesson, IMO. And they’re pretty.

  237. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:00 pm

Laylie needs more outfits, doesn’t she? I love her pink bonnet.

  238. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:02 pm

I wonder if I can find the LOF books at the county library. They’re expensive to buy directly from LOF, but I’d love to read them,

Do you have any of the LOF outfits besides the ones the dolls came in, Lena?

Maybe I shouldn’t get Gwen, Sonali, and Chrissa, and their outfits. Once it’s all said and done, it’ll be over $400 this year. I could probably find all 5 LOF dolls at a discount price for around $300.

  239. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 2:03 pm

Well,I think Beckie’s stories can called like this.

    1.Meet Rebecca,an American Girl
    2.Rebecca and Ana:(Cousin)/School Story
    3.Candlelight for Rebecca:Hannuakah Story
    4.Rebecca and the Movies:Spring/Movie Story
    5.Rebecca to the Rescue:Rescue Story
    6.Changes for Rebecca:Winter Story

  240. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:05 pm

I wonder why for Rebecca and Julie they changed the book titling pattern? Maybe AG wanted some variation so the books would look more interesting. And Kaya, I guess.

  241. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 2:05 pm

    And,does Beckie celebrate her birthday?

  242. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 2:05 pm

    I think so too.

  243. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:06 pm

No, I have no other outfits.

Family Christian Stores often has up to 75% off discounts, you can get the books really cheap there.

  244. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:07 pm

Yeah, Rebecca celebrates her b-day in “Rebecca and the Movies”. Lena has read the books so she’d know better than me.

  245. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:07 pm

I really don’t like the new titles. i can never keep them straigt. And Candlelight isin’t a Hanukha story, it’s about Christmas.

  246. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:07 pm

    May 4 I think.

  247. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:08 pm

LOF outfits are appealing, but for the price of one or two outfits, you could buy another LOF doll. I’d like each doll and one outfit.

  248. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:08 pm

April 4th is Beckie’s bday, not may, sorry.

  249. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:09 pm

Candlelight is about Christmas? That’s kind of a low blow, seeing as Rebecca is advertised as the new Jewish doll. Hannukah is still mentioned, right?

  250. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:10 pm

It’s mentioned. As hard as it is to believe, Hanukha’s not that important a holiday for Jews.

  251. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:11 pm

I know next to nothing about Judaism, so I guess that makes sense.

  252. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:12 pm

The only reason i know is because my friend is Jewish. And oddly, Korean.

  253. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:13 pm

    Interesting combination :)

  254. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:14 pm

    Yes it is.

  255. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:16 pm

Are you a big fan of Chrissa and her collection (including Gwen and Sonali)? I’m starting to feel like I shouldn’t get her just because she’s the GOTY. I haven’t gotten a historical girl since 2005 (Felicity and Elizabeth). I’m thinking of getting Julie and a few of the LOF dolls instead.

  256. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:17 pm

    Because I love frills!

  257. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:18 pm

Go ahead. No I don’t really like Chrissa’s collection, except Nali, but I completly changed her character, so that hardly matters.

  258. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:19 pm

It’s going to be hard becuase I like to stick to tradition. But past her swim team outfit, Chrissa is just a dull doll.

  259. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:20 pm

. . . a dull doll without a single frill to her name :) , but only historical dolls look good with the frills.

  260. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:21 pm

    Yep, frills are nice.

  261. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:22 pm

Besides, the GOTY next year might be as awesome as Mia.

  262. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:22 pm

She might be … dare I hope…. African American?

  263. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:23 pm

. . . and with reasonable books. It’s kind of funny: Mia was some super athlete and Chrissa is, for lack of a better term, a loser who gets picked on.

  264. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:24 pm

I absolutely wouldn’t mind a black doll, as long as she’s pretty and has a good collection. Addy looks kind of horsey, if I dare say so. I love LOF Laylie. Her bonnet is adorable, but she’ll probably be the last LOF doll I get since she doesn’t really even have a collection.

  265. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:25 pm

It is funny. Actually, all the girls were cool. Then came chrissa.

  266. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:27 pm

Yeah, Chrissa/Gwen/Sonali vs. Millie/Kathleen/Violet/Elsie/Laylie. I think I know which dolls I like better.

Thank you soooooo much for telling us about LOF dolls, Lena. My AG dolls have met their match!

  267. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:29 pm

Where did they come up with the name Chrissa, anyway? I”m kind of used to it now, but it does sound like a loser name (no offense to Chrissa lovers, I was once hooked too). Mia was a great GOTY name.

  268. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:30 pm

Going to go check the mail to see if the My Twinn dress is in :)

  269. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:30 pm

    You’re welcome.

I have no idea. That is a very odd name indeed.

  270. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:37 pm

And the handmade dress is in! I’m going to send Char photos of my colonial Twinn dolls in a few days.

  271. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:39 pm

    Cool!

I’m working on making Pita a Lissie’s colonial dress from her patterns, just a little longer, and i can tell you, I feel Lissie’s mom’s pain. I would not recomend hand making colonial dresses.

  272. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:42 pm

Are you using a sewing machine?

  273. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:43 pm

I see you like your Italian dolls since you have Pita :)

  274. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:43 pm

No, i have one, but I’m sewing it by hand.

  275. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:44 pm

Actually, Pita’s mexican, but I don’t like Gia’s bangs, and they have the same face mold.

  276. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:45 pm

I don’t have any Karito Kids so I tend to mix them up. My bad!

  277. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:46 pm

It’s Ok. I don’t mind. Besides, I know you have almost nothing on your mind right now besides LOF and myTwinn.

  278. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:49 pm

    Yeah, you’re right :)

I really should start reading one of my zillions of books. But since school just got out, I don’t feel like doing something that requires close concentration, even if I do love the book I’m reading. LOF dolls are so addicting!

  279. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 2:49 pm

i can’t wait 2 get millie! i might get 1 of her outfits 2, i really like her prairie picnic outfit and her split riding outfit…… i wanna read all her books!

  280. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:50 pm

Oh, I agree. I was meant to read a book as summer homework last year…. I eneded up reading four Elsie books instead.

  281. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:50 pm

    I love Millie’s blue special occasion dress. . . but it’s like $70 :(

  282. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:51 pm

Pioneerfan, I suggest Family Christian Stores. They usually have big discounts on things; I got my Laylie for 25$.

  283. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:56 pm

    You got Laylie for $25?!

  284. Lena on June 6th, 2009 2:56 pm

Yep. Like said. FCS has very big discounts.

  285. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:57 pm

    Wow.

  286. Lily on June 6th, 2009 2:57 pm

    :o

  287. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:00 pm

Do you think their outfits are overpriced, or just that good of quality? Like I said before, $110 for one of Vi’s outfits? $38 for undergarments?

  288. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:01 pm

They are a little over priced, but the quality is there, and like I said before, they do have a lot of discounts (on the site)

  289. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:03 pm

True. I wish AG would discount dolls. I don’t think they ever have. AG is king of the doll business so they don’t have to put stuff on sale that often. People will buy it anyway.

  290. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:09 pm

Exactly. They don’t know about the other good doll lines out there, like MT, KK, and LOF.

  291. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:11 pm

It’s a shame I didn’t hear about LOF dolls before. I wouldn’t have near as many AG dolls as I do.

  292. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:12 pm

It’d be great if they could get the word out about LOF, produce the outfits in greater quantities, and get those prices down a bit.

  293. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:14 pm

Unfortunately, AG is a bit of a cult following.

  294. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:15 pm

    It’d be wonderful.

  295. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:16 pm

It is, but I think LOF is a great alternative for anyone who wants a more religious message to their children, and also to diversify your collection a bit.

  296. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:18 pm

In the meantime, I’m going to get my collection started with Elsie, Millie, Violet, and Kathleen . . . provided I can get them at the same price I found today. I can probably get the four of them (with their beautiful, frilly, dresses) for the same price as Chrissa, Gwen, and Sonali.

Okay, I’ve been on the computer a little too much so now I’m going to peel myself away from the keyboard. I’m going to go clean my room, eat a snack, and lose myself in a good mystery book. And I will most definitely forget about those adorable LOF dolls for a good couple of hours. Bye, Lena :) !

  297. Lily on June 6th, 2009 3:19 pm

“It is, but I think LOF is a great alternative for anyone who wants a more religious message to their children, and also to diversify your collection a bit”

My thoughts exactly! I need to thin out the crowd of my little AG minions. Good-bye for real this time!

  298. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:21 pm

me too. I need to get off and read, because if anyone comes on here and sees how long we talked, they’ll think we have no outside lives, haha.

    Bye!

  299. Sara on June 6th, 2009 3:22 pm

Hiya! Sorry, I was gone for awhile, I just came back from taking a walk. So, what’s up?

  300. Sara on June 6th, 2009 3:22 pm

    Wait, don’t leave me!!!!

  301. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 3:24 pm

    sarah, i’m on! dont leave!

  302. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 3:25 pm

*says quietly and sounds small and tiny and helpless* anyone?

  303. Lena on June 6th, 2009 3:26 pm

I’m still on. Yeah, I have no books I haven’t read in my house.

  304. Sara on June 6th, 2009 3:42 pm

Yay people are on!! I got my brother started on watching Mary Poppins!! :-)

Anybody here read The Tangle Web? My mom bought it for me!! I’m only on chapter 3. I’m not used to reading books other than Twilight!! :-)

  305. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 3:47 pm

    sara- is it good?

  306. Isay on June 6th, 2009 3:48 pm

I really like Rebecca! She is totally cool and pretty :)

  307. pioneerfan04 on June 6th, 2009 4:01 pm

i know isay! i LOVE my beckie doll! she looks so much like me! lips and nose and skin color and hair color! everything! a mini me! teehee!

  308. Lena on June 6th, 2009 4:15 pm

I have a question: What historical do you want to see AG do next?

  309. Lena on June 6th, 2009 4:17 pm

Here’s the catch. She has to be realisic, and she can’t be from a period already covered by AG.

  310. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 4:29 pm

do you think sometime in the future there could be an 80’s ?

  311. Selena on June 6th, 2009 4:41 pm

ok, I 4got what I said a while back, but whatever that was… I remember I really wanted a doll from a couple periods in time…

POP QUIZ!!! (I know, u thought u were out of school!) I’ll make it easy, many publicans (no offense to any1 just easier than public schooled kids) have:

Have you (check 1 or both)
    1. read the twilight series (or any in the series)
    2. enjoyed them

(some of you already know my answer(s) but I don’t want to be copied) (ya! turn the printer off! ;) )

  312. Lena on June 6th, 2009 4:42 pm

    Sel, you know my answer.

  313. Lena on June 6th, 2009 4:45 pm

I wouldn’t want to see an 80’s doll for at least 20 years, but it’s possible.

  314. Lily on June 6th, 2009 4:51 pm

I’m back for a quick break! I really can’t think of a time period AG hasn’t covered. Maybe a Louisiana Purchase era doll – a really wealthy one? Or maybe the Alamo. Okay, leaving again!

  315. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 4:57 pm

    the 1920’s?
i was thinking about twnety or more years in the future, if ag is sitll in business.
i wish thier was more advertising or knowlodge about other doll lines: karito kids, mt, lof

  316. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:00 pm

Yeah, those dolls are all pretty, but no, everyone has an AG and when you say you have other dolls lines, they say “There are others????”

    1. A creole Louisiana Purchase doll who has to adjust to no longer being French, but American. With a Cajun friend.

    2. a black civil rights doll who’s parents oppose the “colored laws” and has a white best friend.

    3. A Harlem Ranisance doll durring the 1920’s, who’s father is an artist.

  317. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:00 pm

    4. a 1950’s Cuban girl living in FL.

  318. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:05 pm

    5. an 1890’s Hawaiian girl durring Queen Liliuokalani’s overthrow.

  319. Selena on June 6th, 2009 5:06 pm

FL is good!! hehe I think one of mine was luisiana purchase… artist is interesting too..

  320. Selena on June 6th, 2009 5:07 pm

lena and i have already answered the Q, where is everyone????

  321. Selena on June 6th, 2009 5:08 pm

    OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! # 5!!!!!! g2g swim w/ my bro b back l8r

  322. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:08 pm

Hehe… all my girls are of color. The first three are all at least half black, the fourth hispanic, and the fith Hawaiian.

  323. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:14 pm

I like the Hawaiian and Creole ideas. The Harlem Renaissance and Cuban Floridian aren’t terribly interesting to me. And I’ve heard enough about the Civil Rights movement for a lifetime.

  324. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:15 pm

I was going to mention that none of your ideas were white, but I didn’t want to be insensitive . . .

  325. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:16 pm

I’m mostly interested in the clothes.

I’d love a Cuban refugee simply because I know one, my neighbour movied to FL in 59.

  326. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:17 pm

So? There need to be more dolls of color (this comming from a white person)

  327. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:17 pm

It should be a Cajun doll with a Creole friend. A white girl would have to adjust more to being American after being French since blacks were slaves, right? Am I getting Cajun and Creole mixed up again?

  328. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:18 pm

No you’re not, but a Creole girl at the time would be free. She could even be rich.

  329. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:18 pm

I’m all for dolls of color as long as they’re interesting and have pretty clothes.

  330. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:19 pm

Ohhhh . . . I haven’t taken US History yet so my knowledge of that stuff is kind of sketchy.

  331. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:20 pm

I love the idea of a rich Creole doll! Maybe one that lived on a plantation?

  332. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:21 pm

    Umm…. plantation = slaves.

I’d love for her to live in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

  333. Selena on June 6th, 2009 5:22 pm

WAIT!! (just got the swim suit on, i had to eat 1st) do you mean an AA girl that ownes a plantation?? I’m confused…

    now going!

  334. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:23 pm

I seem really ignorant right now, don’t I? The French Quarter would be interesting. I’ve been to Antoine’s (fancy restaurant) there and it’s pretty rough, but around 1800 it’d be neat.

  335. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:24 pm

I was in New Orleans as a little girl, so I hardly remember, but I want to see it again.

  336. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:25 pm

I confused my Creole and Cajun terms (again!) for a second. I meant to say I’d love a Cajun plantation doll. But again, that means slaves, which would discredit the books’ meanings. People would be going after AG with knives for that.

  337. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:27 pm

People went after Addy. And she was a slave in one book, for two chapters. The rest of the series was about freedom.

  338. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:29 pm

How about a rich Creole doll? There, I think that sounds better.

  339. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:29 pm

    . . . no plantation necessary.

  340. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:30 pm

Maybe her father could be a wealthy Creole merchant who deals with trade in the Port of New Orleans and up the Mississippi. She could visit a riverboat in one book!

  341. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:31 pm

I’d love her. I’d definatly be the first to buy her.

That, and i still want at least a Cuban refugee and a Hawaii overthrow doll.

  342. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:32 pm

I can get my antebellum / rich plantation girl fix in the LOF collection. I love those dolls!

  343. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:33 pm

Wouldn’t the Cuban doll need to be 1964? I have a historical book about a Cuban girl in Florida for 1967. I don’t know if they were already coming in boatoads in 1954.

  344. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:33 pm

Yep! That’s why I have Elsie. A rich Antebellum girl I don’t see AG making.

  345. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:34 pm

    *boatloads*

that kind of looked like boa toads, didn’t it? :)

  346. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:36 pm

Well, the communist take over was in 1959… so yeah, I think 1960’s.

  347. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:36 pm

I wish it was easier to find the LOF books in libraries or maybe boxed sets. Even the PB versions are $8 apiece.

  348. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:37 pm

Like I said before. FCS has them very cheep.

  349. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:39 pm

Whew! So I do know a little bit of history! I remember the Bay of Bigs was in 1960 or 1961, so that’s probably when people were starting to go to Florida in droves.

Part of the Cuban doll’s story could be her escape from Cuba, but Cuba would get mad at that since they’re still Communist.

  350. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:40 pm

    *Bay of Pigs*

Why am I making these funny typos? :O

  351. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 5:43 pm

    i like those ideas.

  352. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:46 pm

Okay, I’m going to go read now!

  353. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 5:50 pm

    people were uspset about addy?

  354. chrysanthamum on June 6th, 2009 5:53 pm

is cajun french and creole mixed ethnicity?

  355. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:55 pm

    Yes to both.

  356. Lily on June 6th, 2009 5:58 pm

I decided to get some fun dip instead, so I’m still on. How much did the Rebecca that was leaked onto Craigslist sell for?

  357. Lena on June 6th, 2009 5:59 pm

I;m not sure. All I know is 100$ was beaten.

  358. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:04 pm

What I was thinking was AG employees could sell the doll they got a month early for an inflated price on eBay or Craigslist and turn a profit.

  359. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:06 pm

See, but empoyees can’t do it. They’ll get fired for it.

  360. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:07 pm

But I thought that once they have the doll they can do whatever they want with it? Maybe I misinterpreted your meaning earlier.

  361. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:09 pm

This fun dip is really sour!

  362. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:10 pm

They can, but not sell for inflated prices. That’s the one thing AG won’t let them do.

  363. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:11 pm

Can they sell it at list price?

  364. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:12 pm

    Yeah.

  365. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:14 pm

Can’t they start an auction on eBay at $95 so if the price goes up it’s not their fault?

  366. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:17 pm

Ahh . . . Elsie’s so pretty. I’ve found the antebellum doll I’ve been looking for!

  367. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:19 pm

Technically, yes, but there will be skeptics.

  368. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:20 pm

As in AG might still be tempted to fire you for being sneaky enough finding a loophole in rules.

  369. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:22 pm

As in people will say “That’s not {name}! That’s just {JLY or GOTY or BFF} wearing a dress you made!”

  370. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:24 pm

Yech, I hear another storm coming.

  371. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:26 pm

    Good ‘ol Florida, huh?

  372. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:27 pm

I think I’m going to start off with Elsie, Violet, and Millie. Right now I can get them for $210 including shipping, but I don’t want to make a hasty decision. How often does FCS discount them? If I can get one for $25, I’ll wait!

  373. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:28 pm

    Yep. Good ol’ FL

  374. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:29 pm

They don’t have 75% off often but you can get 25% off with a cupon.

  375. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:30 pm

The price I found is 30% off, so maybe my best bet isn’t FCS.

  376. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:31 pm

I’d still go see them in person, and decide which Iike best.

  377. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:32 pm

Yeah, I’m going to find a store in my area so I don’t end up buying $210 in dolls I hate.

  378. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:33 pm

    Are they different in person?

  379. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:35 pm

Yeah. All three of them have the same mold, only Laylie and Kathleen have a different one. And I know they’ll be changing the meet outfits soon, so if you like these I’d hurry, if you don’t, then wait to see the new ones…. I bet this is why they’re on sale.

  380. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:36 pm

It does help to see a doll in person before you buy her, just to be sure you like that doll.

Like 4 (the banged asian AG) looks horrible on the AG site, but in person she’s just so addorable.

  381. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:36 pm

They’re changing the meet outfits soon?! I think they could be better, but they’re nice. Do you know where I could find pictures of their new meet outfits? Maybe they’ll be super discounted at FCS because of that? How did you know?

  382. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:38 pm

Press realease on the site… or newsletter or something.

No, there are no pictures of the new outfits.

  383. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:38 pm

Sorry for the question overload! :0

  384. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:41 pm

Would you wait for the new ones?

  385. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:46 pm

Meh…. I can wait for a new Millie one, but I like Vi’s.

Oh, and Laylie and Kathleen aren’t getting meet clothes changed.

  386. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:48 pm

Good. Kathleen and Laylie don’t need to be changed. I wonder if the dresses will change colors? I know their dress color coincides with the book cover color.

I like Vi’s too. Blue and pink is a pretty combination. I’m not a big fan of Millie’s green buttons on her meet dress.

  387. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:49 pm

    How about Elsie’s?

  388. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:50 pm

I’ve been wondering bout color too.

I just overall don’t like Millie’s dress. But I love Vi’s colors, and how you can see the many layers of petticoats on the back.

  389. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:52 pm

I like Elsie’s, it looks like what a child would wear.

  390. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:52 pm

It’s hard to decide. I really wish I could see a side-by-side comparison becuase I wouldn’t want to buy two versions of the same doll just because I liked the dress. Do you know how soon they’re changing them?

  391. Lena on June 6th, 2009 6:54 pm

Nope. All it says is “soon”

  392. Lily on June 6th, 2009 6:56 pm

Thanks for the heads up! Now that I’ve seen Millie’s meet dress in a customer’s picture, it’s less bright and more of a dull mauve color. The green buttons just don’t look right. Don’t get me wrong; I still like her, she could be improved some.

I’m going for a run. Bye!

  393. priscilla on June 6th, 2009 7:03 pm

i have kathleen, her meet me outfit is really cute!

  394. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:04 pm

I love Kathleen. She’s next on my list.

  395. priscilla on June 6th, 2009 7:04 pm

    you should buy her!

  396. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:08 pm

I should, but I have no more room for more dolls. I’ve decided to not get anymore unless I absolutley love them (like I do Rebecca). I;m even considering selling my Ling, Lulu, Sam, and Kirsten. Sigh. Too much.

  397. priscilla on June 6th, 2009 7:11 pm

Don’t sell them! please? give them to me instead! ;) JK

  398. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:14 pm

    Haha… I won’t. I’m considering it, but I love them all and I don’t want to.

  399. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:15 pm

I might make them permanent display dolls, and only play with Beckie, Pita, Nali, and Elsie.

Laylie’s a display doll too, but I couldn’t bear to part with her.

  400. Lily on June 6th, 2009 7:17 pm

I decided to not go on a run. It’s still too sunny and hot. Maybe in an hour or two.

I love Kathleen too. She has the cutest doll face I’ve ever seen. I may substitute her for Millie. I love Millie’s outfits, but I think I’ll wait for her new meet dress. I can get her for Christmas, instead.

Outfits aren’t a priority right now since they’re so expensive. I want to get all of the dolls first so I won’t feel guilty for buying an outfit when I could’ve gotten a doll instead.

  401. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:18 pm

K, I have to go for a walk with my mom (finally out of bed!), so bye!

PS I trust you to keep it clean while I’m gone. That means everyone.

  402. Lena on June 6th, 2009 7:20 pm

Lily, you’re in charge. Be a good captain. (and make sure if someone doesn’t keep it clean, tell them to stop, or outright ignor their comments and don’t get into conversation with them)

    *exaggerates salute*

  403. Lily on June 6th, 2009 7:21 pm

I’m running out of doll room too. There are only two open slots right now. I’m planning on rearranging my dresser to free up spots for atleast 5 more dolls.

  404. Lily on June 6th, 2009 7:22 pm

Okay, Lena. Unfortunately, I’m going to wash a car right now. I’ll check in once I finish.

    *exaggerates salute in return*

  405. sarah on June 6th, 2009 7:44 pm

wow, you guys have been on all day!

  406. Selena on June 6th, 2009 7:44 pm

OH! CAN I BE IN CHARGE???!!!!!! oh wait but i’m watching a movie hehe!

oh, thx lily I was REALLY confused she would be like a hypocrite!!! (or something) lol! I like the NEW ideas!!

I’ve seen millie’s meet outfit in person… not…well… pretty. Elsie’s is just AMAZING, as is vi’s. In the back you can see her petticoats (???) very cute!!

  407. Selena on June 6th, 2009 7:46 pm

    *goes to watch a movie*

be back l8r after movie + apple and peanut butter!! (this is random but…)

ya know idk why put I hate pb (&j) sandwitchs (hehe!! lol) and anything else pb except pb apple and choc pb pie!!

  408. Lena on June 6th, 2009 8:15 pm

    Nice Sel.

Yeah, me and Lily have been here all day. We don’t do anything else, lol.

  409. Sara on June 6th, 2009 8:25 pm

Wow!! Over 400 comments already!! I have been watching Mary Poppins all day (bonus features mostly!!) and not been on here!! (this Monday-Friday I won’t be on in the mornings. I’ll be busy doing stuff. I don’t really want to talk about it.)

    Pioneerfan- so far it’s good.

What movie are you watching Selena?

  410. Selena on June 6th, 2009 8:33 pm

just got on!!! do you have the special edition?? the bonus features are very long if i remember correctly… (i have it too!)

I’m watching “ballet shoes” w/ emma watson (all i know about her is… harry potter lol)

 will anyone answer my Q??????? It’s kinda far back…. hehe! (i’m not said, just waiting… back 2 movie w/ pb apples!!!!!!! ya i know lena, verrryyyy nice!!) =D

  411. Lily on June 6th, 2009 8:35 pm

Yeah, I was here pretty much all day. I never cleaned my room or started reading a book. This coming week will be different! I think finals just took every productive bone out of my body.

Selena, thank you so much for your opinion of Millie’s dress. I’ve been looking at it more and it seems less and less appealing while Elsie and Vi’s dresses look cuter by the minute. Hopefully Millie will get a pretty new meet dress soon! I love the rest of her wardrobe

I just washed 2 cars and earned $10! Whew! It’s a rare, not humid night so I’m going to go for a nice quick run (since it’s almost dark). Ciao!

  412. Selena on June 6th, 2009 8:38 pm

my comments aren’t posting, the worst thing i had was pb (peanut butter!!!!!)

  413. Sara on June 6th, 2009 9:29 pm

    Have fun Lily!

Anybody like Julie’s Basketball outfit? My Julie is wearing it now. I like it and she likes it.

  414. Char on June 6th, 2009 9:31 pm

Wow – you all were mighty busy posting today!!

  415. Lena on June 6th, 2009 9:47 pm

I’b almost totally bedridden. I have nothing better to do.

  416. Lily on June 6th, 2009 10:00 pm

My brain was fried from finals week. I couldn’t think of anything better to do.

  417. sarah on June 6th, 2009 10:01 pm

    y Lena, what’s wrong?

  418. sarah on June 6th, 2009 10:02 pm

yeah, I’m so bored too. I’m actually looking forward a teensy bit to summer school just because I’ll have stuff to keep me busy, not like I want homework or anything.

  419. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:08 pm

    I have issues.

  420. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:08 pm

thx for deleting that Char, it wouldn’t let me post!! :D

    bouna notte!!!!

    church then back on 2morrow!

also, does anyone think “dreams in the golden land” (or something close, dear america) is..well, extremely alot like rebecca’s story??????????

  421. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:09 pm

huh?? that was kinda random lena…

  422. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:11 pm

    ok g2g now. bye!

  423. Lena on June 6th, 2009 10:13 pm

Some one asked what was wrong, and I told them.

Yeah, I have noticed just how similar the books are.

    Buona Notte.

  424. Sara on June 6th, 2009 10:25 pm

Buona Notte everybody! (I won’t be going to bed for a little bit but just saying)

  425. Sara on June 6th, 2009 10:28 pm

Selena, do you mean the special edition of Mary Poppins? If so, then yes I agree. I like the Step In Time number from the Broadway show. But I do like all the features on there!

  426. Sara on June 6th, 2009 10:30 pm

And the copy I have is from the library. But I don’t want to give it back! lol!!

  427. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:43 pm

ok, i was doing a puzzle but..

ya! that’s the one I meant!! I don’t remember his name, but I like the actor who plays the chimney sweep guy… the extra w/ (what’s her name who plays:) mary poppins and chimney dude was too long i never finished it! lol

ok, so apparentally (lol spelling) no one wants to answer my Q *sniffsniff* so here it is again (I’ll keep badgering b4 bed!)
Have you (select 1 or both):
    1. read twilight (the series or just 1 or 2 books)?
    2. liked/enjoyed (same thing) the books?

  428. Selena on June 6th, 2009 10:43 pm

ppl w/ answers (this will be short):
    lena
    mmeeee!!!!!

    once again (4 real…prob…)

    bouna notte!

  429. AG&FAN on June 6th, 2009 11:22 pm

Hmm-I think Beckie should have more stuff. This is list of what most of historical characters have but Beckie don’t.
    1.Purse
    2.Kerchief/hankie
    3.coin
    4.Holiday Dress
    5.table
6.SUMMER outfit(NOT movie outfit,of course. That was spring outfit.)
    7.Fun outfit(play outfit,swim suite,etc)
8.Own special outfit(maybe outfit she usually use besides her meet outfit? Beckie uses meet outfit a lot in book-that’s kind of cute, though)

  430. Chrysanthamum on June 7th, 2009 12:20 am

a case for storage, a doll, more furniture, more items.

  431. Chrysanthamum on June 7th, 2009 12:51 am

i have a few days of school then finals then summer break!

  432. Lena on June 7th, 2009 7:00 am

Chrysanthamum, most girls* have the traditional 7 outfits (or less because Mattel is dumb and retires things)

    Meet outfit
    School Outfit
    Christmas outfit
    Birthday outfit
    Summer outfit
    Winter outfit
    Nightgown/PJs

Beckie still needs her Christmas, summer, and winter outfits. I get why there’s no winter/Christmas (because it will get released in the fall) but summer? Come on AG!

*The execption is Kaya, because she wouldn’t have any clothes anyway, all she would have is the two she has.

  433. Lena on June 7th, 2009 7:01 am

Sigh. I wish they’d go back to having traditional collections like how the other girls had.

  434. Sara on June 7th, 2009 7:24 am

Selena, the guy who plays Bert is Dick Van Dyke. And the woman who played Mary Poppins is Julie Andrews. Yes I have read Twilight (the whole series) and I love it!! Team Edward!!

  435. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 7:45 am

selena,no,i have’nt read twilight, but edward is cute. *blushes*

  436. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 7:46 am

I’m on beckie’s third book! has anyne here read her books yet? well bye,i gtg to church! ttyl

  437. Lena on June 7th, 2009 7:48 am

I’ve read all of them (my cousin sent me her copies), and after the third one they do get a little fantasy like, but they’re still very good.

  438. Selena on June 7th, 2009 7:53 am

    *leaves for church*

  439. Lily on June 7th, 2009 10:29 am

Lena, do you like the LOF outfits that are on sale right now?

  440. Lena on June 7th, 2009 10:34 am

I like all four of them (I’m not counting undies).

  441. Lily on June 7th, 2009 10:43 am

Thanks. I may go ahead and buy the outfits if I get the dolls. Gotta go to church! Bye!

  442. Holly on June 7th, 2009 11:04 am

i still dont know which AG ill pick after i come home from vacation… =(

    help plz!!!

  443. Lena on June 7th, 2009 11:07 am

I’d recomend Rebecca, but not if you can’t deal with Nicki like curls.
    Ivy, because she’s so adorable!

  444. sarah on June 7th, 2009 11:38 am

LOL, selena I can see how that sounded random. Well, I hope whatever is wrong, you feel better Lena =).

NO! Team Jacob!!!! woot woot! I think Jacob is cuter than edward ;)

  445. Sara on June 7th, 2009 12:03 pm

Sorry Sarah, but I disagree w/ you. (I have to deal with my friend being Team Jacob. She used to be for Edward, but I don’t kno what happened! :) )

  446. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:24 pm

ok,well, what is team jacob and edward?!?!? is there some contest or something? idk

  447. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:27 pm

do you guys like mitchel musso? i love his voice! and he’s,er,well,ya know,CUTE (sorry if you think thats innapropiate. :( )

  448. Lena on June 7th, 2009 12:28 pm

I’m pretty sure any conversation about how cute a boy is will get deleted.

  449. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:30 pm

    Sorry. :( i won’t say that then.

  450. Lena on June 7th, 2009 12:31 pm

BTW, teams Jacob and Edward are Twilight things about who Bella should have ended up with.

  451. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:31 pm

Lena,do you have a Webkinz account?

  452. Lena on June 7th, 2009 12:32 pm

    No, I don’t like them.

  453. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:32 pm

oh,well, bella should have ended up with whoever she wanted.

  454. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 12:35 pm

I’m going to make a youtube video today! (hopefully, not completely sure yet.i)it’ll probaly be uploaded my tommorrow! do you think it should be of my AG dolls or of me singing?

  455. Lily on June 7th, 2009 12:42 pm

I wonder if FCS will have a big sale on their LOF dolls since they’re getting new meet dresses?

  456. Lena on June 7th, 2009 12:42 pm

I’d love to hear you sing.

  457. Lena on June 7th, 2009 12:42 pm

    I really don’t know, Lily.

  458. Lily on June 7th, 2009 1:17 pm

I kind of have my LOF plan for now:

This summer, buy Kathleen, Violet, and Elsie. Buy the four outfits on sale and put Kirsten in Millie’s dress temporarily.

For Christmas, buy the new version of Millie and put Millie in her picnic dress that Kirsten was wearing.

  459. priscilla on June 7th, 2009 1:20 pm

ok,then the video will be a singing video! do you think i should sing somewhere over the rainbow,7 things,or cruella de vil or fly to your heart or get back?

  460. Lena on June 7th, 2009 1:25 pm

Personal preference is Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

  461. Lena on June 7th, 2009 1:27 pm

Kirsten would look good in Millie’s dress. Mostly because they look so alike.

  462. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 1:30 pm

    any1 on?

  463. Abby on June 7th, 2009 1:31 pm

Priscilla I have a webkinz account. this is true to…. well I have…. 45 Webkinz.

  464. Lena on June 7th, 2009 1:31 pm

    Moi.

  465. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 1:31 pm

P.S. its a different girl NOT Analiese.

  469. Abby on June 7th, 2009 1:36 pm

By the way If they retired Molly it won’t be for a while now because people are still getting over Samantha’s archive.

  470. Lena on June 7th, 2009 1:41 pm

No, it’ll be at least two years before another archival, because Historica;s are meant to come out every two years.

  471. Chrysanthamum on June 7th, 2009 1:46 pm

are they making plans for a new one?

  472. Lena on June 7th, 2009 1:54 pm

Well, it’s safe to assume so. I heard about “Rebekha” in the 90’s from my friend. We can assume they’ve been planning whoever’s next for a long time.

  473. sarah on June 7th, 2009 2:00 pm

    pshhhhh, no way, team jacob!
I don’t even like Twilight but I’m still routing for Jacob, haha. he’s awesome..

  476. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 2:08 pm

  477. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:08 pm

Last one expired on the 1st, so no codes.

  497. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:15 pm

  499. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:16 pm

  500. Abby on June 7th, 2009 2:30 pm

    Tired from sleepover…….

  501. Lily on June 7th, 2009 2:32 pm

Wow. You guys have been posting a lot! (I was guilty of that yesterday)

Right now I’m my family’s travel agent. We’re going to Dinsey Land. We might’ve gone to Disney World, but apparently it would be really hot there in July.

  502. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:36 pm

Yes, it would have. Hot and rainy.

  503. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:36 pm

But then again, LA’s not much better.

  504. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:49 pm

I was on before and you left me.

  505. Lily on June 7th, 2009 2:51 pm

I’ll take whatever vacation I can get :)

  506. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 2:51 pm

oh, i left u lena! sorry!

  507. Lena on June 7th, 2009 2:58 pm

    Technically, it’s still spring.

  508. Lily on June 7th, 2009 2:58 pm

    School’s out. Close enough.

  509. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:08 pm

Not for me. Or my (other) cousin’s in NY.

  510. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:11 pm

Well, your circumstances are a bit different. And where I live, it’s already blazing hot. I know the summer solstice isn’t until around the 20th :)

  511. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:11 pm

And I know it’s blazing hot where you live too . . . and humid

  512. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 3:20 pm

my school is out. it is SOOOOO hot here! where i live it’s hot ALL year, except winter, wen it finally cools down. it’s either too cold here or too hot.

  513. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:20 pm

What about my cousins? They live in NY and go to a normal school.

  514. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:21 pm

80-100 degrees year round. Cept those two days a year when it gets cold (50degrees)

  515. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:25 pm

I said it’s summer for me, not for everyone else. I hate to be selfish, but I only particularly care if it’s summer for me! :)

  516. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:28 pm

    Lucky.

  517. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:29 pm

Actually, I never specified it was summer for only me. That’s just what I implied.

  518. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:35 pm

I know. Meh, i’m not jealous. I get to have summer all year cause I don’t have to get up and can do whatever I want, whenever. I get bored and do schoolwork, yes, but of well.

  519. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 3:36 pm

i think i’m going to get kit and millie………….. most likely

  520. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:41 pm

Yeah, that’s why I said your circumstances were different when you said is wasnt’ summer for yourself.

I really hope the Millie with the new meet dress is prettier than the old one. I dislike the current one. The rest of the dolls are fine.

  521. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:45 pm

Although I kind of wish Violet’s accessories were different. Maybe the photograph just makes them look bad.

  522. Lena on June 7th, 2009 3:48 pm

I really like her hat, it;s very pretty in person, but I dislike her necklace. It’s a pink and white stripped cross, and it seems too girly and too modren.

  523. Lily on June 7th, 2009 3:51 pm

So would you pass Vi’s accessories up – or just wait for the new meet outfit?

  524. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:10 pm

Well, I like this outfit, and I don’t know if accessories will change.

  525. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:13 pm

So her hat is prettier in person? My main gripe was that there appeared to be hardly any flowers on it. I like the outfit too – blue and pink rule! So do ruffles!

  526. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:15 pm

I also love Vi’s dark hair. So straight and silky looking – just like Julie’s :)

  527. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:18 pm

Oh, Vi’s hair is very pretty. It’s so silky to the touch, too!

  528. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:25 pm

Is her dress too dull of a blue?

  529. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:28 pm

You can tell I trust your opinion? :) I like to listen people who have seen the doll in person.

  530. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:29 pm

couldn’t find the cd… now i’m doing math!! haha we never really get a summer, we do math, spelling and Bible all yr round! we get breaks on special occasions and vacations…

uh lena your talking about average temperatures, right?? it’s been ALOT colder than 50 in orlando…

  531. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:30 pm

No, It’s a dark powder blue, not as powdery as in the pictures, but a little darker. It’s not dull, and it makes her eyes pop.

  532. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:31 pm

no, it’s like a baby blue (i think… i can’t remember! i’ll leave that to you, lena!) Vi’s hair is just soooooo silky!! that reminds me, Jule’s (julie) hair is getting frizzy, how do i fix it??

  533. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:31 pm

Selena, you have school all year round!? Do you go to a private Christian school?

  534. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:31 pm

Oh, yeah, I meant average. Like what the climate is. It got to 20 last year.

  535. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:31 pm

ok nevermind! I was confusing it was another dress i played w/!

  536. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:33 pm

Millie’s dress looks like an ugly color of purple, don’t you think?

  537. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:35 pm

Selena, buy some braid spray and let it sit in her hair for a few hours (worked wonders on Kit) or do a downy dunk: sink filled with water, drop in a cap full of Downy, and let her hair dip in. wash it a little, take it out and make sure not to get Jule wet AT ALL (especially eyes and body) and ley it dry.

  538. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:35 pm

It’s nice in color in reality, just not in shape.

  539. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:36 pm

were can I get braid spray?

yes, it really is!! it’s pretty sad. The only thing i don’t like about some of the outfits is they use cheap ribbon and weird shaped buttons…

  540. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:37 pm

I like how Elsie’s looks nice and fitted; it’s not frumpy looking like Millie’s.

  541. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:37 pm

ok, well, i just don’t like the color (i’ve seen in person) but it’s ok, you like it, i don’t oh well!

  542. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:38 pm

I LOVE elsie’s meet outfit, it looks like something she would actually wear!

Vi’s elagant walking outfit mkes me laugh *giggle*

  543. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:38 pm

I’ve never seen them use cheap ribbon, but yeah, some have odd buttons.

Sally Beauty or any pharmacy (CVS, Wallgreens)

  544. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:39 pm

brb got to do 25 math Qs in a dif. book …

  545. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:39 pm

It does make me giggle. i think she looks a little like fruit salad in it…. but it is a pretty outfit nontheless.

  546. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:40 pm

You don’t like the colors in Elsie’s meet outfit? I must say, I’m hesitant because of the yellow and green combination.

  547. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:40 pm

    Yeah, it’s a pretty $110 outfit!

  548. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:40 pm

what??? I was talking about mille’s meet outfit…

  549. Selena on June 7th, 2009 4:41 pm

    ok now i’ll brb!

  550. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:42 pm

Oops . . . you don’t like the color of Millie’s meet dress, not Elsie’s?

  551. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:45 pm

The walking outfit makes me giggle.

Elsie;s meet is very nice! Don’t worry about coloring, it looks very pretty together.

  552. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:45 pm

I like all the colors, I don’t like the STYLE of Millie’s.

  553. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:47 pm

I think the walking outfit is awesome! So many colors and it’s so elegant looking (hence the name) . . . and the chapeaux is hilarious. If I can find it on sale or use a good coupon, I may buy it someday. But that day isn’t now since it’s $110 – for a doll outfit!

  554. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:48 pm

Oh, I when I said “Oops . . . you don’t like the color of Millie’s meet dress, not Elsie’s?” I was talking to Selena. Don’t worry; you made your preferences clear early on.

  555. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:50 pm

Yep. I did. I still love LOF, and all the dolls. And books. It’s about even with LOF and AG for me.

  556. Lily on June 7th, 2009 4:55 pm

Would you ever buy the current Millie?

    Millie or Kathleen?

  557. Lena on June 7th, 2009 4:57 pm

Kathleen. I’m not a big fan of Millie.

  558. Lena on June 7th, 2009 5:00 pm

K, I’m going out for a run, I’ll be back in bout 30 min.

  559. Lily on June 7th, 2009 5:03 pm

‘Bye. I’ll probably still be hunting down vacation packages when you’re back.

  560. Lena on June 7th, 2009 5:42 pm

    K, me back.

  561. Lily on June 7th, 2009 5:58 pm

And I’m still hunting for vacation packages. I think I may have found one, though. Time to look a hotel up on tripadvisor!

Which LOF face mold is your favorite? I love Kathleen’s (like I’ve said a zillion times before!)

  562. Lena on June 7th, 2009 6:00 pm

I like the original best (Elsie and Millie where the first dolls)

  563. Lily on June 7th, 2009 6:13 pm

They’re all cute, actually. I wonder why there aren’t any presentation “meet” accessories for Kathleen? She doesn’t particularly need them like Millie does, but I’m curious.

  564. Lena on June 7th, 2009 6:31 pm

I don’t really know. I’d love some accessories for her.

  565. Lily on June 7th, 2009 6:37 pm

I wish Kathleen had more outfits. I like her Easter dress and the blue one that’s on sale (yay!) , but beyond that she only really has boyish clothes.

  566. Lena on June 7th, 2009 6:42 pm

That;s cause she’s a tomboy. I like her kilt outfit.

  567. Lily on June 7th, 2009 6:48 pm

A lot of her collection is out of stock right now – including the kilt outfit (I think).

  568. Lily on June 7th, 2009 6:52 pm

Yep, the kilt outfit is out of stock on the LOF website . . . but hopefully not permanently. I like it too and I can kinda relate to Kathleen since I’m a runner and have some Scottish heritage. She’s a pretty doll. I can’t believe I ever considered passing her up in favor of Millie and her frumpy meet outfit.

  569. Selena on June 7th, 2009 7:05 pm

how could you?? hehe! I ended up doing math, working on my puzzle, and eating dinner, then giving isabelle hand massage… (oh ya, isabelle is my black standard poodle lol) g2g

  570. sarah on June 7th, 2009 7:46 pm

whoa, somebody’s been busy, lol….. no a bunch of someone’s have been busy… soooo bored……..

  571. Holly on June 7th, 2009 7:55 pm

    im really bored 2….

  572. Selena on June 7th, 2009 8:06 pm

i’m on buildabearville.com lol!!! hehe a while ago i pretended to be a guy kinda funny since they’re “rare” on the website ;)

  573. Lily on June 7th, 2009 8:13 pm

I was on quite a bit today since I was looking up travel packages online and sometimes those Travelocity/Expedia/Priceline/Orbtiz searches take a while. And I finally found one!

  574. Lena on June 7th, 2009 8:13 pm

Ciao. I went out for a walk.

I love some of Kathleen’s clothes, they’re pretty. And i have a friend who’s from the McKenzie clan.

  575. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 8:42 pm

ok, what does the new millie look like? cuz i still love her cureent one still on the site, but where are the new pics?

  576. Lena on June 7th, 2009 8:46 pm

There are no pics of the new meet dresses yet.

  577. Sara on June 7th, 2009 8:52 pm

What are you guys talking about?

  578. Chrysanthamum on June 7th, 2009 8:52 pm

the lof dolls and cltohes are pretty

  579. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 8:52 pm

thank you lena! oh, and did u hear abt the recall of millie’s picnic dress shoes? u probly did, but i cant believe they used LEAD!

  580. Lena on June 7th, 2009 8:53 pm

LOF Millie, Elsie, and Violet will be getting new meet outfits.

  581. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 8:55 pm

guys, if u hav the millie alof doll, is it bad to take out her braids, or can u easily put em back in again with the brush?

  582. Sara on June 7th, 2009 9:01 pm

    What’s LOF? I’m confused.

  583. Char on June 7th, 2009 9:02 pm

It sounds like we really need to get some photos of the LoF dolls up on this site! Anyone who has LoF dolls, take pictures and send them in!

  584. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:06 pm

    Aye, aye, Char!

    Life of Faith dolls.

  585. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:16 pm

    Sent!

  586. Anne on June 7th, 2009 9:19 pm

    Anyone here collect antique dolls?
I collect antique and AG dolls. I have two well-loved dolls I played with when I was younger, but they aren’t part of any collection. I have given away all of my barbies and baby dolls – I never cared much for them, anyway.

  587. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:21 pm

Anne, I don’t have any antique dolls, but I do have some early 90’s Gotz dolls that are considered “antique”

  588. pioneerfan04 on June 7th, 2009 9:22 pm

i just bid on a kailey doll on ebay! yay!

  589. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:24 pm

You know that old AG yellow bunk bed? I just won it on ebay. Yay me.

Pioneerfan, i hope you win her!

  590. Char on June 7th, 2009 9:24 pm

Lena – I’ll look for them shortly.

All of you who are “bored” – I just added 4 new wordsearch puzzles at my other site – Jonas, Suite Life, Wizards, and Hannah Montana – go to http://www.printables4kids.com then scroll down to below the summer printables section to the section called Movies and TV. There are also American Girl printables on the site, too.

  591. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:27 pm

Char, i’d like to add that one of the pictures in of Elsie’s hair compared with Rebecca’s. I forgot to mention that.

  592. Anne on June 7th, 2009 9:43 pm

Ooops: Cool, Lena. I have 5 antiques: late 1930’s-early 1940’s simple baby doll(my maternal grandma’s doll and the only one that I didn’t buy/get as a present off of ebay), 1937 Sonia Henie doll, 1930’s simple baby doll, 1930’s Japanese geisha doll,1895 German “Minerva” doll, and 1890 china head doll. Some of them are completely original, and, to my knowledge, all of them have never been re-painted. Some of the outfits aren’t 100% original, but all are old and most contain some of the fabric from the original dress. Also, an arm on my 1895 doll fell off at some point and a 1930’s-ish arm was put in its place a while before I got her. I have no clue about the value of the dolls; the only bit of info I have was that in 1995, my 1895 doll was worth $595.

  593. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:50 pm

My grand mother has some very old dolls. I think she has one from the late 1700’s! I know she has some from the 1800s, and some from the 90’s.

  594. Anne on June 7th, 2009 9:54 pm

I love ebay! In addition to buying 4 out of 5 of my antique dolls off of ebay, I have also been buying a lot of retired dresses for my girls from there. They are presents form my mom and dad for my birthday, but I will pay them however much they feel that the total cost has gone over budget (and it did – those dresses are not cheap but are so worth it to me). So far, I won auctions for Samantha’s winter party outfit, Samantha’s velvet dress, Felicity’s rose garden gown, Felicity’s work gown, Felicity’s riding breeches, Felicity’s summer gown, Felicity’s spring gown, and Felicity’s jacket and skirt outfit. All that’s left is Kirsten’s dirndl, checked dress, and Lissie’s town fair outfit. I am so excited! Also, we ordered my present(s) form my grandma today – Lissie doll, her 4 current dresses, and Kirsti’s baking outfit! Yay! I will also pay her back if she feels that the total cost is too much.
I don’t mean to brag or sound spoiled, but I am just so excited! I will finally have all of the dresses for my soon-to-be 4 girls (not including the night gowns and coats – I don’t know if or when I will be getting those.

  595. Lena on June 7th, 2009 9:59 pm

Isin’t Ebay sometimes the best? I’ve found some retired outfits for very cheap.

  596. Anne on June 7th, 2009 10:03 pm

Wow, I would love to have a 1700’s doll, but they are so hard to find. I am the first in my family to really be into dolls, which explains why only one has been passed down to me. The doll is not that old (late 30’s or early 40’s) because she comes from the younger 1/2 of my family. Let me explain:
    Maternal side of the family:
    Great-grandma : born 1912
    Grandma: b. 1936
    Mom: b. 1960
Me: b. 1994 (I know I am not supposed to say my age, but I kind of have to)

    Paternal side of the family:
Great-grandma: Born 1890’s (we are unsure of the year but have it written down somewhere)
    Grandma: b. 1921
    Dad: b. 1954
    Me: b. 1994
My paternal grandma only had one doll growing up (they were really poor) and her mom threw it out after my grandma cut the hair or something. Shame, because I’d love to have it. My mom had some 60’s-70’s Japanese geisha dolls, but she threw them out long before I was born. Even though I don’t collect dolls younger than 1940’s, it would be nice to have the dolls as heirlooms.

  597. Anne on June 7th, 2009 10:08 pm

Some, like the rose garden, were cheap-ish, but others were NOT! Except for the work gown, I bought using the buy-now option. I could have gotten them cheaper if I bought the other way, but with so many items on my list, it would make things harder than they had to be.
Is “Lena” pronounced like “L-ee-na” or Helena minus the H sound? Just curious…

  598. Anne on June 7th, 2009 10:16 pm

OK, I’m going to bed now. It is 11:15 where I live and I have to do loads of schoolwork tomorrow (I slacked off this weekend). Bye and nice talking to you, Lena!

  599. Lily on June 7th, 2009 10:39 pm

Anne, beware that Kirsten’s checked dress can get pretty expensive on eBay. But money doesn’t really sound like an issue after that paragraph you rattled off and the fact that you used buy it now :) . You sure have quite a stash now! I’m tempted to buy retired outfits, but then I remember the pretty stuff (and new stuff) that is still available from AG,

I have one antique doll (I think). It’s a nice SFBJ I found on ebay for $16 (including shipping). She has a nice satiny pink dress over lots of layers of rufflles and blond ringlets. I may sell her and turn a profit. The reason why I got her so cheap is because the seller couldn’t find the SFBJ 236 marking on her neck and simply called her a French doll. SFBJ was around from 1899 – ca.1950, so she very well could be antique. I may send in a picture with the My Twinn ones.

Lena, so you got the yellow bunk bed from eBay? I have one that I got from a garage sale for $40 and I think it’s very ugly (I apologize if you like the coloring) and I may either sell it on eBay for $30 or spray paint it a pretty color and make my own bedding.

  600. Lily on June 7th, 2009 10:41 pm

It kinda stinks that a lot of the people here are on eastern time and therefore go to bed much earlier than me (a central time night owl :) ). Maybe I should hit the hay soon so I can be productive tomorrow!

  601. sarah on June 7th, 2009 10:49 pm

hey! I’m still up Lily! I live on western time, so yeaaaaaaaaa….. watching the tony awards right now :]

  602. Lily on June 7th, 2009 11:00 pm

    Good to know, Sarah!

  603. Lily on June 7th, 2009 11:29 pm

Anne, how long ago did you buy Felicity’s work gown?

  604. Lily on June 7th, 2009 11:31 pm

    . . . never mind.

  605. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 12:09 am

I agree! Times are kind of confusing sometimes…(Everyone’s probably sleeping now!) I wonder if AG had retired Julie’s basketball furniture and holiday gift. No one probably answer mine until tomorrow… I’m curious about that.

  606. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 12:11 am

Whoa, the clock here is probably for eastern. In where I live it;s totally different.
    For one thing,in here,it’s not 12.

  607. Georgia on June 8th, 2009 1:17 am

I don’t suppose the basket ball bleachers were very popular as they were so large and inconvenient. IT’s a shame about the christmas gift though, if it is retired, though i don’t remember reading about it in the book.

  608. Lena on June 8th, 2009 5:47 am

Actually, clotck here’s for centeral time.

The barbie head was never in the books, it was just shameless Mattel using AG to propmote Barbie. In the book, she got a pretty Chinese doll.

I’m not too crazy about the color, but cheep AG bunk bed.

It’s prounced Helena without the He sound.

  609. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:55 am

    Also, Happy Birthday Kirsten!

  610. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:51 am

happy bday kirsten! does anyone know what year kirsten was born?

  611. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:53 am

on the alof site there is a new meet dress pic 4 kathleen!!!!!!!!!!

  612. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:54 am

    1845

  613. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:55 am

oops its actually elsie’s. its under dolls when you first click on it!

  614. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:55 am

Where, Priscilla? All I see is the old one.

  615. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:57 am

There’s noting new that I see.

  616. Starr on June 8th, 2009 9:03 am

She was born in 1845, priscilla! How old would that make her today, I wonder? I’m too lazy to do the math now…I just got up! (I’m on CST, its 9:03 here.)

  617. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:04 am

I bought her work gown (complete set) on June 3rd. Everything that I bought on ebay so far was bought on the third. I know you said never mind, but I figured I’d share, anyway.

Yes – Happy Birthday, Kirsti! I think I will celebrate her birthday the same way I celebrated Sam’s – with a candle in a desert, singing, and photos. I think I will put the candle in a chocolate chip cookie (my mom made a batch the night before my grandma and aunt visited a few days ago) instead of in a mini ice cream sandwich like I did for Sam (we don’t have any more).
Thanks for the pronunciation, Lena. I was wondering because I knew a girl at school named Alena and her nickname was Lena, pronounced Alena minus the A sound, but you mentioned that it came from the name Helena, so I was curious.

Thanks for the warning, Lily, but don’t think that my parents are willing to pay for ALL of those things – not in a million years! I know they are expensive , but these dresses do mean a lot to me so I have no regret in forking $$ over for them (I don’t know how much they will ask me to pay them back yet, but I assume it will be a lot). I am very cheap and never buy much of anything for myself, so I consider this to be a shopping spree (the first one of my life!). I work hard for my money and save a lot, too, so it’s not really a problem for me right now. But I won’t buy anything else for a long, long time!

Yeah, I know there are so many pretty outfits being sold at AG right now, but I only buy the historical outfits that being to the dolls I have/am getting (I don’t buy any modern dolls – my criteria is that they have to have been born before the oldest person I have ever met, and Rebecca just makes that cutoff, otherwise they seem to modern to me – or those “of today” dresses for Kaya, Addy, and Nellie). Since they have retired so many historical outfits and I already had most of them for the three girls I currently have…well, I decided to buy the retired outfits this year, as well as the retired and current outfits for my soon-to-be girl, Lissie.

  618. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:04 am

    It’s 10:04 here!

  619. Starr on June 8th, 2009 9:05 am

Sorry, I didn’t see that Lena had already said that. I was reading all the comments from before and that takes a while!
Does anyone know when Rebecca’s Birthday is??? I know she was born in 1905, but I don’t know when.

  620. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:07 am

    Beckie was born April 4.

    Kirsten’s 164 years old today!

  621. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:14 am

What is your favorite breed of dogs? Mine is greyhounds! So sweet, gentile, loving, sophisticated, elegant, fast…and…um…lazy. I wish we could get a greyhound, but my parents unanimously vote against that idea. Oh well. The dogs I walk are both greyhounds, so I have part-time dogs. They are such sweeties.

  622. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:16 am

    Sorry, cat person.

  623. Starr on June 8th, 2009 9:19 am

Happy Birthday Kirsten! She sure is old, but not as old as Kaya….

Wow, Rebecca has the same birthday as my sister!!! Although there’s like ninety something years difference. Here are all my dolls’ birthdays (‘cuz I’m bored, okay!)
    1. Rose- November 6th (the day I got her!)
    2. Nellie- October 15th
    3. Luna- August 12th (approx. day I got her, it was sometime in early-mid-August)
    4. Mia- May 20th (cuz…no real reason)
    5. Sonali- January 2nd

So, according to this, Nellie is older than Rose. *sigh* Rose is supposed to be the oldest. Luna is the youngest (of my first three dolls. Mia and Sonali are a year younger than the first three. So technically Mia is the youngest of them all.)

  624. Starr on June 8th, 2009 9:21 am

I’m a cat person, too! I have two cats, Taz and Simba. I love them! But Taz is getting old, she’s fourteen right now and will turn 15 in December. My other cat is younger, but we’re not sure exactly since we adopted him as a stray….a very friendly stray.

  625. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:23 am

Golden retrievers. I have one who’s almost 5 and they’re very sweet dogs. They’re like giant teddy bears!

Lena, I’ve been pronouncing your name Lee-na this entire times! It’ll take some getting used to before I can make myself read it as Helena without the He.

Have fun with your retired outfits, Anne! I’d buy several of them if they weren’t so expensive, like Felicity’s town fair outfit, but I’m a frequent doll spender so I couldn’t get away with a spending spree like yours even if I felt like it :) .

  626. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:26 am

Yeah, I never am nor ever will be a cat person. I can’t stand them since I’m extremely allergic. Cats induce athsma and itchy, swollen, red eyes in me.

  627. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:29 am

I am not really a dog or a cat person. Many cats creep me out and/or are vicious, but I love some of the ones on the block (they are all outdoor cats – the indoor cats I have known don’t seem to be very friendly).. One of the cats is older than me – her turns 16 this year and is still going strong! I am not really into dogs, either, but greyhounds are an exception.

  628. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:30 am

Oh yeah, I’m allergic to cats, too. I only pet the ones I really love, but then I have to wash and change my clothes. My allergies are getting better, though; when I was younger, I could not be in the same room with a cat without having an allergy attack!

  629. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:35 am

I’m technically allergic, but I show no symptoms, and I love my cats, so I’ll keep them anyway.

  630. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:43 am

One of the girls at my old school was cat-obsessed and she had over five cats. Then she developed severe allergies and she decided to keep them! I am technically allergic to dogs, but I don’t have any allergic reactions around them. I am also allergic to dust mites, but not so much now that my asthma has become milder and less frequent. I never had it bad – it’s just better now and only appears when I have a respiratory illness.

  631. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:53 am

I wonder what Priscilla was talking about with the new LOF meet dresses? She must’ve been mistaken since the LOF website hasn’t changed any.

  632. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:54 am

do yall think ag might retire felicity? they retire alot of her items, so do you think theyll retire her?

  633. Starr on June 8th, 2009 9:57 am

I don’t think they will be retiring any dolls for at least a few years….and what reason would they have to retire Felicity, anyway? She’s already been semi-retired once. They retire stuff from every doll’s collection, and while some of her stuff may be going, I don’t think the doll will anytime soon.
    But what do I know?

  634. Holly on June 8th, 2009 10:02 am

good point starr. i may just want 2 get her just to be on the safe side

  635. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:05 am

I think they are just downsizing collections. Samantha. who had the largest collection, is now gone, and Lissie, who used to have a pretty big collection, only has a few remaining items. I think Kit and Molly have the largest historical collections now. The focus is now on the modern dolls and not the historical, which is unfortunate. I don’t think (and certainly hope) that they don’t retire any more historical forever, or at least for a very long time.

  636. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:09 am

Lena, you probably already noticed, but Char put up pictures of your LOF dolls. They’re pretty dolls and I like Elsie’s dress more now. Char also mentioned that you can get them from LOF website or Amazon . . . except for on Amazon, they’re $180. Not sure why a 180% markup is worth mentioning.

  637. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:14 am

I doubt Lissie will be ritered soon, but maybe in 2010. Logcally, Lissie, Molly, and kirsten are the most in danger.

  638. Char on June 8th, 2009 10:16 am

Lily – I don’t understand why the Amazon prices are so high either – I am waiting on another source of LOF pictures I can use and will probably swap out the Amazon ones as soon as I can.

  639. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:16 am

Yeah, i noticed Lily. Haha, those are really bad pictures i took, but sorry, my room doesn’t have good lighting.

  640. Starr on June 8th, 2009 10:17 am

Yeah, I really hope they don’t retire any more historicals, EVER. They are the heart of American Girl! Don’t get me wrong, I love the moderns too, but l love history! When I was younger, my sisters and I would dress up in Pioneer dresses and bonnets that my mom had made and pretend like we were from Little House on the Prairie! I love those books….And I love reading the American Girl books too. Even my modern girls like to dress up in Lizzie’s clothes and pretend like they are at a ball, or dress up in Nellie’s clothes and have a tea party, or wear pioneer clothes and pretend like they are on the prairie….it’s just so much fun! I have so many memories of historicals and I hope they don’t retire any more, because I would really like to get some more stuff from all different collections so my girls can pretend they are from any time period!

  641. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:20 am

I don’t mind going to my FCS today or tommorrow and getting better pictures of Millie, Kathleen and Violet.

  642. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:28 am

I’d rather they got rid of the plethora of JLY dolls and instead added more historicals and outfits. AG would never get rid of JLY because it’s their weapon against My Twinn.

Lena, that’d be great if you could take pictures! The only photo of Kathleen that I’ve seen is her stock photo since she’s so new. Speaking of which, I need to hunt down a store that carries LOF this week . . . breakfast time!

  643. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:35 am

Yeah, I don’t like that they are focusing on AGT, oh sorry, I forgot Mattel changed it to be less educational JLY, and focus on historicals. Look at the old catalog covers, everything was about the historicals under PC. Then in 2000 the focus changed, and AG became just another barbie to some people.

  644. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:37 am

You know, from now on, if anyone sees me using AGT insead of JLY, it’s because that name makes sense to me.

  645. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:48 am

JLY looks kinda like “jelly” so, yeah, AGT makes more sense. It’s only called Just-like-you now to compete with My Twinn’s Just-like-me slogan. So stupid. A lot of the AGT outfits are cheap looking, like the sweetheart outfit and that light blue dress with the weird hemline. No offense to your cousin, Lena! American Girl started off with a historical focus and it should stay that way. Stradling the fence ends up with a half-done job on both sides.

  646. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:50 am

Don’t get me wrong; I have two AGT that I sent to the doll hospital last year for new heads and I like some of the outfits.

  647. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:53 am

I liked how the AGT clothes used to be neutral tones that any girl (or boy) would wear. Now Mattle thinks that if its not pastel a girl won’t wear it.

My cousin mostly helps desin, she doesn’t do it herself, and she doesn’t tell me what clothes she makes, so I really can’t tell.

  648. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:54 am

I like AGTs too, but i’d rather use them to make BFFs for my historical girls (like 26 would make a good Harriet for Addy)

  649. Starr on June 8th, 2009 10:54 am

Yeah. My first doll was a JLY, only they weren’t called that then. I was younger, so I got her to look like me, but the funny thing is we look nothing alike now. She has bangs, brown eyes, brown hair, and medium skin, and I don’t have bangs, have green-hazel eyes, and my skin is not medium. Rose is alike me in some ways, but in some ways she’s my opposite. My other JLY doll is Luna, and I got her with no intention to make her like myself. She’s a number 27 (the one that came with earrings) named after Luna Lovegood and they have a lot of similarities….

Okay, so this has little or nothing to do with the above, but my first two dolls, Rose and Nellie, have “Pleasant Company” stamped on their neck, but my last three dolls, Luna, Mia, and Sonali, have “American Girl” stamped on their neck.
Can you explain this to me, please?
(For the record, I got Nellie in ‘04 or ‘05 (sadly, I don’t know which) and I got Luna Aug. of ‘07. )

  650. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:55 am

Sorry, i meant design, not desin.

  651. Lena on June 8th, 2009 10:58 am

They used old molds, Starr. They still will look new, but some dolls molds (as in what they pour hot melted vynil into) were made when it was still PC. My Sam has PC on her neck, even though I just got her for Christmas.

  652. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:01 am

    Vinyl, not vynil :)

Some of the old AGT stuff was ugly, like the second (yellow) meet outfit, the urban meet outfit, and the cargo pants outfit. They’re just outdated, I guess. Even though I’m a fan of pastel colors, it wouldn’t hurt if AG used the color brown or navy blue once in a blue moon.

  653. Starr on June 8th, 2009 11:03 am

Yeah, I know what molds are, but that’s interesting about the old molds….
Do you know when Pleasant Company started being called American Girl?

  654. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:06 am

Typo. When you type fast you tend to make erorrs.

Agreed that those outfits aren’t that nice, but thats what little girls wore back then.

  655. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:07 am

It officially changed in 2004 I think.

  656. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:10 am

One of my AGT came in the yellow outfit. *shudders*
It looks like either a giant mustard stain or an ugly canary died on it.

  657. Starr on June 8th, 2009 11:13 am

Yes, that is right. I checked on the AG website….

  658. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:13 am

If you got rid of the jacket…. it wasn’t *that* bad…

  659. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:16 am

The jacket is all I have left. And it looks worse in person when it’s 12 years old with a bunch of nubbies on it.

  660. Starr on June 8th, 2009 11:18 am

Lol, an ugly canary died on it. That doesn’t sound very…..stylish.
I think you must have gotten that doll before I became interested in AG, which was in 2002 (when I got my first doll), because I don’t remember seeing that outfit. I used to pour through the catalogs–still do–and I wish I had saved some of them from a long time ago…

  661. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:19 am

I never did have the accessories to the outfit, so it was an ugly brown hair, brown eyed doll with an ugly yellow outfit. My doll looks much better with a new head and the hot pink volleyball outfit!

  662. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:20 am

Yeah, the outfit I’m talking about was released in 1997. And it is ugly.

  663. Starr on June 8th, 2009 11:23 am

Was it by chance the one my name is linked to? (Sorry if it doesn’t work…)
I was looking on that website at all the old AGT outfits, and that was the only one that came across as….yellow. It looks O.K. with the accessories, but I could see how it might look :( without them. Then again, it is twelve years old…

  664. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:24 am

People wore that 12 years ago. Yea, that’s the one.

  665. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:26 am

Yeah, it looks better with the accessories. I wonder what AG’s deal was with yellow and black in the 1990’s? The bunk bed, the canary outfit . . .

Do you think I should sell my AG bunk bed on eBay for up to $40 or paint it my own color make new bedding for it and keep it for personal use?

  666. Starr on June 8th, 2009 11:27 am

Some of the old things aren’t too bad…in fact they have a lot of cute outfits I wish were still available!

I wish Sam were still available too….there’s a few of her outfits I NEED for Nellie!

  667. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:28 am

. . . or just keep my black n’ yellow bunk bed as is and buy the sleeping beds and PJs that go with it.

  668. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:29 am

Yeah, I wish Sam was back too, only because I still need her birthday, summer, and winter outfits.

I kinda like the yellow better than the pastel they are using now.

  669. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:40 am

I still need Sam’s summer and winter outfits too.

  670. Anne on June 8th, 2009 11:44 am

I love Sam’s summer outfit but beware: it discolors easily. The hat is almost useless, too – mine never stays on for long. But the whistle is awesome. It works so well – my brother loved it and would not stop blowing it for the longest time!

  671. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:47 am

I don’t really care if it stays on or not, I still want it.

  672. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:48 am

Really my Sam summer outfit is fine and the hat stays on good and it is ten years old. There is just a little black mark on the back and idk how it got there.

  673. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:50 am

I’ve always liked Sam’s summer outfit. White and black is a classy combination. When it sold out before I could buy it, I looked on eBay, but the prices were just too high.

  674. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:51 am

    Like I said before, should I . . .

    a) sell the black and yellow AG bunk bed I have for $30-40 on eBay
    b) paint it a pretty color, make my own bedding, and keep it
    c) keep it as is and buy the bedding

  675. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:53 am

This is why I’m the scorge of garage sales. I look through everything for Sam, Lisse, and Addy clothes.

  676. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:54 am

I say B, but I don’t know how well it will paint.

  677. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:54 am

Lena have you ever found their clothes at garage sales?

  678. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:55 am

Yes i have. Someone was selling a Marisol and all her stuff for 100$, but it was already sold when I asked.

  679. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:56 am

There was a sub-division garage sale in my neighborhood last saturday, but I didn’t get the chance to go to any of them. Cuz the main reason I wanted to go was to see if there was any ag retired stuff. Especially Sam’s and Nellie’s.

  680. Lena on June 8th, 2009 11:56 am

Oh, Sam, Lissie, and Addy? Yes, but I only found clothes I already have, and I ended up selling them for a profit on eBay.

  681. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:58 am

That’s a good idea. If I ever found a double of Sam’s outfit, like her summer outfit I would probably keep it for Nellie cuz she looks good in it. And so they can match.

  682. Anne on June 8th, 2009 11:59 am

I don’t know what to tell you, Lily. Do whatever you feel is right. I don’t want to advise you to do something you will regret. Taylor, maybe the old outfits were made better – mine is from 2005.

  683. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:01 pm

My Beckie looks good in anything I put her in, so I would get doubles of Sam’s sailor outfit for the two of them.

  684. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:03 pm

Yeah they probably were, cuz a lot of my Sam’s outfits are old and so far I only had to sew the button back on her summer outfit last summer cuz it was about to fall off. And sew a little piece back on her school outfit.

  685. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:03 pm

I may look up how to paint it. It could be really pretty if it’s the right color and fabric. That’d be a fun summer project! On eBay, one painted green is going for $41 and the bidding is still open. It doesn’t even come with a mattress – just two blankets and two pillows. I may see if I can get more bunk beds for cheap, paint, and resell them on eBay.

  686. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:04 pm

Oh, old outfits were made better.

Mattel makes prices go up, but the quality comes down.

  687. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:05 pm

Yeah I think I might get Rebecca cuz I love the early 1900s period, thats why I have Sam and Nellie. And I just love their clothes and Rebecca is very pretty and her clothes are very similar to Sam’s and Nellie’s. I still like Sam and Nellie better though. The only thing is a have to persuade my mom to get Rebecca, or at least help me pay for her.

  688. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:06 pm

Yeah, Mattel has to fund all of those AG movies. I can’t believe they gave everyone in the Chrissa cast an AG doll – even the kid who played her brother. That’s just a stupid waste of money.

  689. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:09 pm

I found instructions on how to paint a filing cabinet, which seems similar to the bunk beds. You just spray on primer, spray on paint for metal, and viola! I wonder if I could bleach out the black and white striped bedding and pillows and make new slipcovers for them . . .

  690. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:11 pm

Yeah, I guess it kind of was a waste of money, but if they only gave it to the main characters then everyone else would be complaining. I never seen the movie so idk how good it was. They should’ve maybe gave them a discount on Chrissa’s collection instead.

  691. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:16 pm

It kind of irks me that AG seems to be throwing money out the door on stupid stuff like that when they raise the price of a doll and accessories $9 in six months. In January, they raised the prices of some outfits as much as $6! I’m liking LOF better by the minute.

  692. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:20 pm

I know I hate that about ag that is why I want a new doll asap cuz they are probably only going to keep raising the prices. But hopefully they will stop raising the prices for now cuz they keep doing it. A doll with acessories now is $114! Just last year in 2008 it was $105 for a doll and acessories. My mom says it is because the shipping price is going up and all that kind of stuff.

  693. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:21 pm

Lena, any garage sale AG hunting tips?

  694. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:21 pm

Lily, LOF’s still a young company….. then again…. thay have values that Mattel doesn’t have.

  695. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:22 pm

AGs will be in the toy section, and most people don’t know the real value of items and sell very cheap.

  696. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:26 pm

What did you mean when you said LOF is still a young company, Lena? Do you mean they haven’t gotten onto their high horse yet like AG?

  697. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:30 pm

They started in 1998, and they haven’t had the time to develop as much as AG has.

  698. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:42 pm

What was your best garage sale find?

  699. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:45 pm

Do you guys know when the american girl sale in wisconsin will be this year? Or did it already pass?

  700. sarah on June 8th, 2009 12:47 pm

I found the AG horse Penny at a garage sale for $5, and my friend got molly’s trunk with a whole bunch of AG clothes in it for $10, and 2 were meet outfits from dolls! if that’s not an awesome find, i don’t know what is…

  701. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:48 pm

    MCM’s July 18.

    Sam’s school dress, 1$.

  702. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:49 pm

After it got retired. I found it in spring of this year, May I think.

  703. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:50 pm

Thanks and those are some good finds I’m disipointed I didn’t get to go to my sub division garage sale. Do you know if they sell retired stuff at MCM? What sort of stuff do they sell?

  704. sarah on June 8th, 2009 12:51 pm

    and MCM might be………..?

  705. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:52 pm

They normally sell stuff that has been returned, but this year all they are selling is dolls (no Mias) and books.

  706. Lena on June 8th, 2009 12:53 pm

    Madison Children’s Museum benifit sale.

  707. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 12:54 pm

Okay thanks, I heard about it last year about a week after it happened. It’s a shame they are only selling dolls and books.

  708. Lily on June 8th, 2009 12:59 pm

Wow. People are really anxious to get rid of stuff! My area pretty much only has an annual garage sale where they sell useless junk and people from bad parts of town come in truckloads to buy it. I also don’t drive yet, so that’s another limiting factor for me.

Do you know why they aren’t selling any outfits this year, Lena?

  709. Starr on June 8th, 2009 1:01 pm

Well, I know that the price increases can be annoying—trust me, I don’t like it any more than you—but it costs a lot of money to make a doll. Think about all those parts and then they have to test them for lead and stuff. It’s not exactly cheap.
And Life of Faith dolls cost $100, and while they are well made (I don’t know, I’ve never even seen one), it is still around the same as AG.

  710. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:01 pm

“To comply with new laws regarding children’s toys”

This is what the email i got said.

  711. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 1:02 pm

Has anyone ever bought a doll from there? How much do the dolls cost? Do they look just like a regular doll you would buy from the store?

  712. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:03 pm

Not to mention, that in 1986 when the dolls came out they were 84$. Adjust for inflation, and at today’s prices, the dolls would be about 115$ alone.

  713. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:04 pm

Yes, hey look like normal dolls (I haven’t been, but my cousin has) except for a small X on their bum.

  714. Starr on June 8th, 2009 1:06 pm

    What’s the X for, I wonder?

  715. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:08 pm

So you know they were bought at a sale and can’t be sold on eBay for full price.

  716. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 1:09 pm

Do you know how much they cost at the sale?

  717. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:13 pm

No, but less than full price, since they’re considered “defected”

  718. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:20 pm

K, go cook dinner, so bye!

  719. Sara on June 8th, 2009 1:23 pm

Happy Birthday Kirsten! (even though I don’t have her!)

  720. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 1:25 pm

    It is Kirsten’s b-day today?

  721. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:30 pm

Yeah, it is *is taking a break from food*

  722. Selena on June 8th, 2009 1:31 pm

hey this is random, but i opened “the jungle book” we got from amazon, and it had $21!!!!!

  723. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 1:32 pm

Cool, i didn’t know that. Do you guys think $38 for samantha’s bed is a good deal even though it has a little pink stain on the blanket and some slight scratches on the brass?

  724. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:38 pm

38 is VERY cheap. I say if the stain doesn’t bother you, go for it.

  725. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 1:40 pm

Ok I thought so too. The only problem is my mom doesn’t like buying stuff online. So idk if I would be able to get it, even though I really want it. I added up all the shipping stuff and it is about $52.

  726. Holly on June 8th, 2009 1:42 pm

how much are the dolls at the sale?

  727. Lena on June 8th, 2009 1:43 pm

    I don;t know. I have never been.

  728. Holly on June 8th, 2009 1:54 pm

i havent either…. wisconsin is SO far away…. im gonna stay in the good ole’ south, and buy ot of catalogs….

  729. Selena on June 8th, 2009 1:59 pm

    i mean, IN the book….

  730. sarah on June 8th, 2009 2:00 pm

on “a” message board, someone said historicals would be like $55, and, yeah just dolls and books, no accessories.

  731. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:00 pm

hehehe, “defected” *bursts into childish giggling*

  732. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:01 pm

    r u still on sarah???

  733. Lily on June 8th, 2009 2:03 pm

Yes, I know it costs a lot of money to make dolls, Starr. You don’t have to reiterate a speech I’ve heard many times before. Life of Faith dolls can be found for much cheaper than their list price, so they can cost less than AG. My complaint was about the sudden price spike, not the overall cost. The dolls were $84 for several years before the price creeped up to $87, $90, and $95 within a matter of about 4 years, give or take.

  734. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:03 pm

ugh just ate a gross bar… eeewww :( i’m gonna be lord voldemort

  735. sarah on June 8th, 2009 2:04 pm

    i hate swim team.

  748. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:14 pm

  749. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:15 pm

  753. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:20 pm

  754. Starr on June 8th, 2009 2:21 pm

    Hi Sallie. You seem….bored today!

  755. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:23 pm

    i’m hungry

  756. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:24 pm

really, i never noticed how… bored i was being

  757. Starr on June 8th, 2009 2:24 pm

    Okay.
I’m bored. Are we the only ones on here? Or are there other people on here, just not saying anything ‘cuz we’re not talking about anything? Or did they all leave ‘cuz we aren’t talking about anything?

  758. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:26 pm

I’m on, just not saying anything

  759. sallie on June 8th, 2009 2:26 pm

well, sadly i have to go now. Grocerey shopping. How…. eventful.
well anyway, sorry and bye bye!!! wow i’m getting to be kinda immature online

  760. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:29 pm

Me too, I’m just doing schoolwork at the same time.

  761. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:31 pm

    Your still in school?!

  762. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:32 pm

    I’m hoseschooled.

  763. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:32 pm

    *homeschooled*

  764. Holly on June 8th, 2009 2:33 pm

grrrr….. I CANT MAKE UP MY MIND ON WHICH DOLL 2 GET!!!!!!!! i have addy,josefina,ivy,chrissa,nicki,samantha,nellie,kaya,kirsten,#4 jly asian, #22 light blonde, blue eyes jly, hallie (hopscotch hill), gwen (hopscotch hill), peyton (bitty), eden (bitty), and kit

  765. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:36 pm

    Oh, that makes sense.

  766. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:37 pm

Holly, what dolls are you interested in that you might want next?

  767. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:37 pm

Besides, my cousins in NY aren’t out of school yet. They get out the 23.

  768. Starr on June 8th, 2009 2:37 pm

    Lol, hoseschooled.
Holly, it sounds like you have a lot of dolls! But if you want another, may I suggest Gwen, Sonali (those two so they can be with Chrissa), Rebecca, Julie (to be with Ivy), Ruthie (to be with Kit) or Molly? Or do you have a specific list of dollls you want?

  769. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:39 pm

Wow, the 23 is a long time. I got out the 22 of may!

  770. Lena on June 8th, 2009 2:43 pm

My “normal” school (where all my friends go) got out Wednesday last week, June 3.

  771. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 2:44 pm

So did my little sister cuz she is in a different school district then me

  772. Starr on June 8th, 2009 2:45 pm

I got out June 3rd as well.

  773. Holly on June 8th, 2009 2:48 pm

Starr- thanks!!! im gonna go w/ either another historical or a jly this time! any suggestions?

  774. Lily on June 8th, 2009 2:55 pm

I think getting out of school June 23 is a rare occurence, Lena. That’s unfortunate for them, but again, not our problem.

Holly, could you describe the type of doll you want? Modern, historical, curly hair, straight hair, etc.

Starr, please finish the comment you started with “I just”. There’s no need to be sorry. I didn’t take your comment about dolls costing a lot as criticism; it’s just something I’ve heard before.

  775. Starr on June 8th, 2009 2:56 pm

My sister has Molly, she is cute, but be warned of her hair. If you take it out of braids, be sure to take very good care of it or it will get messy. Emily is cute too and her hair is much more manageable. Rebecca looks really pretty and she’s who I want next. I love her story and I can’t wait to get her books!!! I’m thinking I may just buy them at the store before I get her, because I really want to read them! :D Lastly, I suggest Ruthie. I’m sure your Kit would be very happy to have her best friend there. Ruthie is very pretty. Her hair looks like it might get tangled easily, being curly and all, but I’m sure you could manage it. :)
Those are my suggestions: Molly, Emily, Rebecca or Ruthie. I don’t have any of these dolls, but I have seen three of them (not Rebecca) and I’m sure other people could tell you more about them. Get whoever you want, though. :)

  776. Lily on June 8th, 2009 2:56 pm

    I got out June 4.

  777. Holly on June 8th, 2009 2:59 pm

lilly- i want either a jly or a historical. i like dolls with bangs and long hair. i LOVE kirsten’s hair, any suggestions on any other dolls like that?

i really like molly. she looks alot like me (but w/ bangs). does any1 have her that can tell me how easy she is 2 care 4? and is her wig like kirsten’s after u take the braids out??

    thnx

  778. Lily on June 8th, 2009 3:03 pm

I’ve had Molly since around 2001 and I took her braids out. Her hair is awful now, but again, how well can a 6 or 7 year-old take care of braided doll hair? Molly is otherwise a great doll; that’s why I bought her first! Her braids are much shorter than Kirsten’s but I imagine their wigs are similar.

  779. Lily on June 8th, 2009 3:04 pm

I’ve never taken the braids out of my Kirsten doll, and I don’t recommend it for Molly. It is near impossible to get them looking good again. But if you don’t mind that, take her braids out, and have fun!

  780. Lily on June 8th, 2009 3:06 pm

Julie is another excellent doll, without the bangs. She even has a mini braid. I don’t have her yet, but I’m planning on it this year. She has very silky, long hair. But you sound pretty dead set on Molly. She has very fun to read books.

  781. Holly on June 8th, 2009 3:10 pm

i took kirsten’s braids out, and her hair is still nice. but i have only owned her for 5 months.

  782. Abby on June 8th, 2009 3:26 pm

My outfits and sleigh finally came in! there adorable!

  783. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 3:32 pm

    What outfits?

  784. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 3:33 pm

    *which*

  785. Lily on June 8th, 2009 3:59 pm

I think my Molly’s braids didn’t hold up well is because I was 7 at the time. I can’t remember taking her braids out or treating her badly, though; it’s been almost 10 years.

  786. Lena on June 8th, 2009 4:03 pm

Getting out of school June 23 is not that rare. The schools in the northeast do it all the time.

I take out Kirsten’s braids, but I’d spray water on the hair when I brush it.

  787. Lily on June 8th, 2009 4:28 pm

    Rare for the South, atleast.

You know how on the LOF website it lists stores where they sell the dolls and the phone numbers? I just called three of the stores and none of them worked! Two were residences and the third was disconnected. I didn’t misdial either. Looks like I’m never going to see an LOF doll in person since the rest of the stores are atleast 45 minutes from my house.

  788. Lena on June 8th, 2009 4:42 pm

To be fair, my store’s phone number was wrong too. I happen to know where it was because it’s next to a Walmart my mom and I sometimes shop at.

  789. Bookworm on June 8th, 2009 4:52 pm

Lena, do you have suggestions on how to take care of Rebecca’s hair?
P.S. , I know it looks like I deserted my blog, but I promise to post pics of my Rebecca doll soon.

  790. Lena on June 8th, 2009 5:00 pm

If you need to brush, brush one curl at a time, then twist it, and it will regain it’s natural shape.

USE WATER when brushing!!!! That goes for all dolls. Use a small spray bottle, spray hair, then brush.

For everyday hair care, just use your fingers to GENTLY comb though her hair.

  791. Lily on June 8th, 2009 5:05 pm

Isn’t that weird that all of the store phone numbers are wrong for LOF retailers? I made sure I was dialing the correct numbers, too, and some I even dialed twice.

  792. Jessica on June 8th, 2009 5:16 pm

i have rebecca!!!!!!!!! OMG she is gorgeous!!!!!!

  793. Jessica on June 8th, 2009 5:18 pm

    i have 3 LoF dolls,& 6 AG dolls

  794. Abby on June 8th, 2009 5:37 pm

The outfits I got were a summer one with flip flops short sleeve shirts capriees and a hat.

  795. Abby on June 8th, 2009 5:38 pm

the second was the retired babysitter outfit. also, the other one is retired too.

  796. pioneerfan04 on June 8th, 2009 5:51 pm

i hope i win kailey off ebay! and i cant wait to get millie and kit!

  797. pioneerfan04 on June 8th, 2009 5:53 pm

oh, ya, it’s really rare 4 the south to ge tout of school so l8 like that. blve me, i live in the deep south, and it is HOT. even in the car with the air cnditioning on, i still sweat to death!

    randomness.

  798. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:06 pm

Unless you lie in FL and you’re AC is still broken, you’ve all got nothing to complain about.

  799. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 6:31 pm

all the people who said i was mistaken about the new ALOF outfits,i’m not. when you first get on the site don’t click on anything, but just look underneath where it says dolls, and there is elsie in a new meet dress.

  800. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 6:32 pm

i’m sorry if that sounded mean…

  801. Holly on June 8th, 2009 6:32 pm

ewww… i remember last year when it got up 2 like 96 and our AC was broken…. yucky…. AL gets pretty hot 2…. it stinks

  802. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 6:34 pm

One thing I need to remind AG, They should make store in region where there is NO AG stores, like northwest, southeast(Do they have AG store there? I don’t think so.) or central part of USA…If they are going to make AG store in southeast, they might make one in-yes,Florida.

  803. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:36 pm

Priscilla, I never said you were lieing, I said I coulnd’t find it.

I still can’t. They have 2 sites, ALOF and Lifeoffaith. Which do you mean?

  804. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:37 pm

They have on in the south, Atlanta, but that’s 7 hours away from me. I could use one closer, but then I’d have to pay taxes. I like being tax free.

  805. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:37 pm

    *Lying*

  806. Lena on June 8th, 2009 6:40 pm

Oh, wait! I see it! That is Elise!

But I’m pretty sure that’s her (retired) school pinafore.

  807. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 7:02 pm

she had a pinafore? oh,ok,i’m sorry,i’m very new to alof.

  808. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:06 pm

Who knows why come Kit doll is so famous…?
Because I’d rather prefer dolls like Elizabeth,Felicity,Kirsten,Rebecca-girls who have small amount of collection.
Maybe,Kit is famous because she has most amount of collection?

And I wonder why AG is putting lots of stuff into Kit’s,not OTHER characters. Kit even got treehouse!

  809. Lily on June 8th, 2009 7:17 pm

Priscilla, that was just Elsie in her retired school pinafore.

  810. Lily on June 8th, 2009 7:20 pm

I hate having an AG strore in my state. It’s four hours away and you have to pay like $30 in taxes even if you buy off the AG website. So annoying.

  811. Lily on June 8th, 2009 7:20 pm

    *store*

  812. Lily on June 8th, 2009 7:22 pm

AG&FAN, Kit is famous right now because her movie was released last year and AG is feeding off of the hype by introducing lots of new outfits and furniture, plus Ruthie. It’ll die down. The same thing happened to Samantha in 2004, Felicity in 2005, and Molly in 2006.

  813. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:22 pm

I don’t spray water on my doll-just put water. But it still works. Do you know how take care of dolls when they get dirty-since they can’t go in with water(NOT hair. I think if hair gets dirty, you just splash water.) And I don’t think dolls should be leaved out in backyard or front yard alone. I don’t know what harm insects can do-(NOT including just touching bugs)espescially if your doll has ears pierced.
(If doll just touches bug-I think it’s okay…unless there is stain or something. You need to wash out if it’s hair, and it;ll take long. Or if it’s in her body,it’s impossible to clean it out. AG doll is pretty hard to take care of)

  814. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:24 pm

I understand, thanks,Lily. But remember, there is shipping at other states. And Julie is going to be famous next-oh…

  815. Starr on June 8th, 2009 7:24 pm

Kit is famous because of her movie. All dolls (historical) get lots of new stuff when they get a movie, including a best friend doll. They are the doll that is showcased the most until another doll is released or gets a movie. Its how its been with Samantha, Felicity, Molly and now Kit.

  816. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:25 pm

    I like

    Elizabeth
    Rebecca
    Julie

    Who do you like best?

  817. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:29 pm

Whose dolls has been to doll hospital? NOT mine. I just got one in March(It’s only JLY doll that dosen’t look like me. I agree with you Lena! It was better when AG had never got idea of turning AGOT into JLY…ugh! Well,Girl of the Year is same.

And my upper comment,I just don’t like bug sitting in my doll’s hair. Or get dirty.
And I don’t know which is better-paying shipping stuff or tax.

  818. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 7:31 pm

    anyone here?

  819. Starr on June 8th, 2009 7:35 pm

I’m here. I don’t necessarily agree about the AGT and LE. I’m glad they are here, but maybe instead of focusing mainly on the modern girls, AG could focus on the historicals more, too. They are both important, but we shouldn’t let the historicals fade. But I love my JLY and LE dolls!

  820. Holly on June 8th, 2009 7:40 pm

i am. i agree w/ u. neither of my jly look anything like me. i have the asian 1, and the light blonde hair blue eyes.
i look the most like molly, but w/out bangs. i have reddish, dark brown hair(naturally) and almost freaky light gray/blue eyes.
and i wear glasses for reading

  821. sofia on June 8th, 2009 7:49 pm

    i just got her

  822. Lily on June 8th, 2009 7:50 pm

AG&FAN, the problem isn’t choosing between tax and shipping; you have to pay both or drive four hours to buy the stuff. There really is no trade off. I’d personally love to have the AG place in my state wiped off the map – or stuck in a nearby state.

  823. Holly on June 8th, 2009 7:59 pm

i dont blame ya lily!!! the nearest one 4 me is atlanta. it took about 2 hrs to get there though, but it was SSSSOOOO worth it!!! :D

  824. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:08 pm

the nearest AG store from me is boston,or chicago? i’m not sure… Do you think i should get rebecca’s school outfit next or her kittens?

  825. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:08 pm

None of my dolls have ever been to the hospital, either. I take good care of them and fix their problems by hand. I want them to be 100% original and don’t need them to be perfect – they are all between three and six years old (2003, 2005, 2006).

  826. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:09 pm

to get to the Chicago AG store by car would take a long time, probaly like 9 hours. :(

  827. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:11 pm

I don’t know, priscilla. I would get the outfit, but that’s just because I only buy the clothes – I don’t collect the accessories. Get whichever one you really want first, though.
The nearest store for me is in NYC – maybe an hour at most drive. I am considering going there for my 16th birthday, but that’s not for a while.

  828. Lily on June 8th, 2009 8:20 pm

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you guys were bragging about never sending your dolls to the doll hospital. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, really. Last year, I sent my two AGT dolls from 1998 and 1999 there for new heads since they were pretty beat up. I got mine when I was 5 and I cut her hair. The rest of my dolls are in perfect condition, except my 2001 Molly, who isn’t that badly off.

  829. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:22 pm

Has anyone heard if there will be a Rose doll? My cousin told me that a PS told her they will be releasing a BF doll in the fall. I believe my cousin but I’m not sure I believe the PS in Chicago, if Rebecca was such a secret why would they be talking about a friend doll so openly? What do you guys think?

  830. Starr on June 8th, 2009 8:29 pm

Who would Rose be a friend to? Rebecca? I’ve never heard of her (then again I haven’t read the books). I hope there is no Rose doll. I mean, I’ve never even heard of this Rose person! And I have a doll named Rose, so yeah. But I know AG doesn’t release dolls based on whether or not I have one named the same name.
    Weird.
Anyway, I haven’t sent any of my dolls to the hospital, but I have few that could probably use it. My sister drew on Rose’s feet with pen, I painted her nails when I was younger, her hair is super frizzy, her skin is scuffed, etc. I guess I’m just afraid that Rose will come back with a whole new head/limbs/etc. and not be herself any more. That, and I’m lazy and not willing to pay the $$. I’d rather buy outfits for the dolls.

  831. Holly on June 8th, 2009 8:30 pm

lani-probably not, but that is just my opinion. ask lena!!! lol

  832. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:30 pm

Lani,i think if they did make a best friend doll,it would not be rose,it would be ana.

  833. Sara on June 8th, 2009 8:31 pm

Rose? Who would Rose belong to?

None of my dolls have been to the Doll Hospital. (Nellie and Elizabeth almost did, Nellie’s old and I was scared that her legs would fall off!! My mom told me that they wouldn’t so Nellie stayed home. And I got sick on Elizabeth and my dad called AG and they said to wash her hair.)

  834. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:31 pm

Starr, rose is rebecca’s friend in her books.

  835. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:32 pm

Rose is Rebecca’a BF and Ana is her cousin that looks and dresses like Rebecca.

  836. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:33 pm

Has anyone had the chance to read the books yet?

  837. Jessica on June 8th, 2009 8:33 pm

Cool! beckie (might) get a bff!!!

  838. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:34 pm

PS’s don’t talk about new realeases, and they’ve been known to get names mixed up. I heard about and Ana doll, but I don’t think it’s true.

All sources point to no, Rebecca won’t get a BFF any time soon.

  839. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 8:34 pm

Hmm,if AG place was located in Oregon, there’s no way you need to pay the tax there-Oregon is no tax state. Since Oregon isn’t so far away(At least that far away.)for me,I can just go there, buy some stuff with no tax,and go away. Oh,that’s what I call bargain, but I don’t like spending time in car too much, though I’m used to it. And I think AG wouldn’t make AGP in Oregon, though!

  840. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:34 pm

Lani,I think Ana is her bff(and cousin),and Rose is just her friend, not to be rude, but i think Ana has a closer bond with Rebecca.

  841. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:35 pm

Lani,i read 3 of rebecca’s books so far.

  842. Jessica on June 8th, 2009 8:35 pm

    i did!

  843. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:36 pm

Ana has a closer bond, but she’s never in the books. Rose is her best friend.

  844. Jessica on June 8th, 2009 8:37 pm

I think if they made a bff doll for rebecca it wud be ana

  845. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:37 pm

oh,well,i geuss your right, lena, its kind of like molly’s story, because emily is her bff,but not in all her books.

  846. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:38 pm

I always wished that Kirsten would get a BF and that it would have been her Indian friend. ( I don’t remember her name, Singing Bird? IDK.) Do you guys wish any of the dolls that you have had best friends? (Josephina, Addy, Kirsten, or Kaya.)

  847. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:39 pm

i wish josefina had her bff maria as a doll.

  848. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:40 pm

JoseFina has an F. Not a PH.

I want Mariana, Singing Bird, Sarah, and Speaking Rain.

  849. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:41 pm

Do you guys like rebecca ’s russian doll game on fun for girls? its so fun!

  850. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:42 pm

    Is Sarah Addy’s BF?

  851. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:43 pm

    Yes, I’m pretty sure.

  852. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:44 pm

Yes, I love that game, I am too slow to get past level 14. I’ve tried several times, but toooooo slooooow!

  853. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 8:45 pm

and i wish they made a linda and susan for molly, and a tyler and amanda for chrissa.

  854. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:45 pm

    Sarah’s Addy’s BF
    Mariana is Josefina’s
    Speaking Rain is Kaya’s
    Singing Bird is Kirsten’s

  855. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:46 pm

Linda and Susan would have made more sense than Emily.

  856. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:46 pm

Amanda was Chrissa’s BF and they didn’t even make her, kind of like with Molly, never thought of that before, very interesting.

  857. Starr on June 8th, 2009 8:49 pm

I’m glad they made Sonali and Gwen for Chrissa. Sonali is really unique and I love her. :) Besides, Tyler is a boy and they wouldn’t do a boy, and Amanda hardly appears in the story at all.

  858. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:50 pm

No, Lily – I’m not bragging. I just choose to keep my dolls original – like Starr said, they would not feel like my girls if parts of them were replaced. But they are not perfect; it’s just my personal preference not to send them in. I don’t look down upon you, so don’t worry! You can choose to do whatever you feel is necessary with your dolls – they are yours, after all, not mine.
I don’t know, I’m not really hoping for another BFF doll at the moment.

  859. Starr on June 8th, 2009 8:50 pm

But yeah, Emily only appears in one of Molly’s books so I guess AG wasn’t ready to have 2 Best Friends yet…

  860. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:51 pm

I agree with you about Sonali, Starr!

  861. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:52 pm

They just wanted someone who could provide a different storry than Molly, and Linda and Susan only gave the same view. So they chose Emily.

  862. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:52 pm

I guess…do you think that they will come out w/ Linda and/or Susan now that they have made more than 1 BFF for a single doll?

  863. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 8:53 pm

Yeah I agree with Anne, my Sam is ten years old and her hair isn’t curly anymore. But I don’t want to send her to the hospital cuz I know this might sound weird but she just wouldn’t be the same. And my Sam’s face is a little different from the newer looking Sam’s and I like mine better.

  864. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:53 pm

Doubtful, as i think Molly’s next to hop the Samantha train.

  865. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:54 pm

Taylor, (I’m not saying you should) but you could just send her in for a new wig and ask them not to replace the head.

  866. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 8:56 pm

Really Lena, I don’t think Molly would go because she is from WWII enless they retire her and come out with a different girl from the same time period. Cuz WWII is really important. At least I think anyway.

  867. Anne on June 8th, 2009 8:56 pm

Lena, could you ask for just a wig without sending the doll into the hospital? Do they still have Sam wigs?

  868. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 8:57 pm

Really? I really didn’t think you could do that. I thought that they had to replace the whole head.

  869. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:57 pm

I love Sonali too, she is different and beautiful. I wish there were more bi-racial dolls.

  870. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:57 pm

I still think Molly or Lissie is next. Lissie because I heard a Louisiana Purchase doll is in the works, and their clothes would be very similar. Molly because I want a 50’s doll.

  871. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:58 pm

Oh by the way, Lena, I love the pictures you took of your dolls, thank you.

  872. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:58 pm

No, wig replacement is common. Sonali’s not specified as biracial.

  873. Lena on June 8th, 2009 8:58 pm

    You’re welcome, Lani.

  874. Lani on June 8th, 2009 8:59 pm

In the book one of her parents is white American and the other in Indian American. The movie does not specify.

  875. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 8:59 pm

But I did notice that my Sam’s bangs are longer than the newer ones and I like it so I guess it would be something I really have to think about. Cuz shes 10 years old and really special to me.

  876. Anne on June 8th, 2009 9:02 pm

That’s old (good thing!!!), Taylor! My Sam is only four, but she still looks different from the newer ones (bangs and face paint). Did the earlier Mattel Sam’s have longer hair or about the same as, say, the 2008 ones?

  877. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:03 pm

White body Sam’s had long, paler hair. PC Sam still had long hair, but darker. Transition era (1998-2003) Sam had shorter hair, and the Mattel ones all had the short hair.

  878. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:06 pm

I actually don’t know if her hair is longer cuz I can’t really go to the store and find out cuz she’s not there. But when I went in November there was a little girl who bought her and took her out of her box and the newer Sam’s hair was curlier than when I had gotten my Sam and her Sam’s bangs were shorter than me Sam’s

  879. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:08 pm

My Sam’s might be shorter cuz the little girls Sam’s hair was a little shorter or about the same than my Sam’s but that is probably because my Sam’s hair is a little wavy and hers was curly.

  880. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:09 pm

But I can’t say for sure

  881. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:10 pm

i cant wait till after my vacation to get molly!!!! hehe, molly and holly, it rhymes!!! lol

  882. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:12 pm

Good for you Holly I can’t wait till I get either Rebecca or Kirsten cuz I will probably go to the ag store next week or in a couple weeks. But idk if my mom will let me get another doll, so I’ll just have to wait and ask her.

  883. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:16 pm

taylor- i recommend kirsten!!!!! i love her SO much! she is adorable! i havent put an outfit on her i havent liked, she looks good in anything. she deserves an A++++

  884. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:19 pm

Ok I will take that into consideration. Some people say Rebecca and some people say Kirsten and that makes it even harder, but I will make up my mind eventually.

  885. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:20 pm

Anne, I completely understand what you said about wanting your dolls to be all original. The dolls I sent in were the first AG dolls that my sister ever received, so I was sentimental about them. That’s why it took me so many years to finally send them in: I realized when I looked at my doll’s face, it wouldn’t be the same face as the one I first saw on my fifth birthday. But my dolls’ heads were in awful condition, especially mine, which got a bad haircut :( . My dolls weren’t doing me any good sitting in a box in my closet, so I forked over the $100 and now they’re gorgeous again. It was worth it, now they’re display worthy, and I’m buying JLY clothes again.

  886. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:23 pm

Lena, would you recommend buying Emily this year since there’s speculation about Molly’s retirement? I asked AG customer service about it and received a cryptic reply:

Thank you for asking about the future of our other historical
characters. Please be assured we are not archiving all of the
historical characters from our line. Historical characters have always
been, and will continue to be, at the heart of the American Girl brand.

As we introduce new characters and product lines, we may consider moving
other American Girl historical characters to the archives. However,
specific plans have not been made at this time.

Again, thank you for writing to us. We value your opinion and welcome
    your comments.

  887. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:25 pm

OMG I asked that same question to American Girl yesturday and got that same answer.

  888. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:26 pm

Yeah…. I believe you CS. Because you’re so reliable.

I wouldn’t buy her yet, because all there is is speculation. Nothing is known for certain.

  889. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:26 pm

It’s called a form letter. AG sends those all the time.

  890. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:26 pm

But couldn’t that e-mail mean any of the historical dolls could be archieved, not just molly and emily.

  891. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:27 pm

    hmm…that sounds like maybe a future retire…..

im gonna stick w/ molly, then get felicity and emily.

ill wry about GOT, and JLY later…

  892. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:27 pm

I hope Felicity is the next to go. I already have most of her and Elizabeth’s collection that I want, so it wouldn’t be a huge loss, personally. I’m sure a lot of you would like her to stay. But if I had to pick between Felicity and Molly, I’d rather keep Molly for now.

  893. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:27 pm

I know it is a form letter I just find it funny that I had just asked that question yesterday.

  894. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:29 pm

See, I think Kaya, Josefina, and Addy are not in danger because they are not white.

Julie and Beckie are new. Kit just had a movie.

So that leaves Kirsten, Molly, and Lissie in danger.

  895. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:29 pm

I would rather Felicity to go to because I might want Molly and Emily in the future and my little sister has all of Felicity and Elizabeth’s stuff except for their beds and trunk.

  896. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:31 pm

I definitely don’t want Kirsten to go cuz I want her and I want Rebecca and idk which one to get T_T

  897. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:31 pm

but if they don retire, it will most likely b near christmas time.

  898. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:32 pm

I agree with you on that Lena, Kirsten, Molly, and Felicity are in danger.

  899. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:32 pm

I doubt they’ll ARCHIVE andy girls this year. New historicals are meant to come out every two years.

  900. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:34 pm

Yeah but this Christmas is 6 monthes away and idk about you guys but time flies for me and that is not enough time. But I don’t think that they will retire someone this Christmas since they just retired Sam.

  901. Chrysanthamum on June 8th, 2009 9:34 pm

why didn’t they just keep the heads the same? ive seen phostos of an older and newer samantha and the older one was a little better.

  902. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:35 pm

Guys, there’s a reason they are using ARCHIVE. It’s not the same as retirement.

  903. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:35 pm

Idk why they changed the heads, but I think the older ones are better that’s why I don’t want to get a new head or hair for my Sam.

  904. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:36 pm

Because they are Mattel. They have to turn every doll into Barbie.

  905. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:36 pm

What is the difference. Does archieve mean they might come back out in a couple years?

  906. Lena on June 8th, 2009 9:37 pm

They specified there was a difference, so maybe they will come back.

  907. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:38 pm

    taylor-yes.
    i agree totally w/ u lena on that 1.

  908. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 9:39 pm

When I called ag they did say that it is possible that they will come back out with Sam and Nellie but it isn’t gauranteed.

  909. Lily on June 8th, 2009 9:43 pm

Sorry for using an incorrect term. I didn’t know there was a difference. Maybe I should focus on filling out my Kirsten and Molly collections since they’re in danger of retirement? Just so I don’t have to fork out several hundred when they do go to get the stuff I want.

  910. Holly on June 8th, 2009 9:43 pm

    good idea lilly.

  911. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:13 pm

You know how Kaya only has one additional outfit and that is considered historically accurate, meaning it is all she would have had – wouldn’t it be a similar case with Kit? I think it is so unrealistic for AG to release so many outfits for her – a real girl in the Depression would have only had, at most, 5 or so outfits. don’t you think? I understand they wanted to release extra items because of her movie but still…what do you guys think?

  912. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:16 pm

    Anyone on?

  913. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:17 pm

    I am

  914. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:18 pm

Yes I totally agree with you Anne 100%

  915. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:19 pm

And my little sis called ag one time and the lady she was talking to agreed that Kit had to much stuff to be living in the depression.

  916. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:19 pm

OK, who do you guys think is prettier – Samantha or Rebecca?

  917. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:19 pm

AG is not retiring any more dolls,my aunt asked them when she went to AG Place and they said no.

  918. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:21 pm

Actually Kit would have only had 1 or 2 outfits, considering how poor she was.

  919. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:21 pm

Samantha, the older Samantha though not the newer ones. But Rebecca is cute too.

  920. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:22 pm

    Anne,rebecca.

  921. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:22 pm

I hope they were right, priscilla. Even though I don’t love love LOVE many of the historical, I would hate to see them go.
Wow, I can’t believe it has been two years since the release of Julie! Feels like she came out just yesterday. My mom would be older than her in real life and I remember the look on her face when she flipped through the catalog only to find that someone younger than her was now considered a “historical” – priceless!

  922. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:22 pm

    but sam is cute too.

  923. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:22 pm

The newer Samantha is still cute though I just like the older one better.

  924. Anne on June 8th, 2009 10:23 pm

    I can’t decide myself…I love them both!

  925. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:24 pm

Anne that is funny about your mom and my mom would be older than her too.

  926. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:24 pm

Anne,my mother is a few years younger than julie, but she was also shocked that the 1970s are now considered historical.

  927. priscilla on June 8th, 2009 10:26 pm

good night,i have to go to bed. ttyl :)

  928. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:26 pm

My mom wasn’t shocked, she was actually glad cuz she got Julie for my little sis in ‘07. She was glad that they came out with a doll that was like her when she was growing up.

  929. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:30 pm

Priscilla: logically, AG wouldn’t be telling people about an archive right now. That doesn’t mean that one won’t happen later this year. They may have not finalized it yet.

I think it’s silly that Josefina, Addy, and Kaya get protection just because they’re not white. Of course, people would be going after AG with knives if they retired the only Native American, Hispanic, or black doll. They could always introduce another. I personally think their collections are unattractive and wouldn’t mind seeing all three going before Molly or Kirsten.

  930. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:32 pm

Yeah that is what my mom said when I told her they shouldn’t get rid of Samantha. She said well if they get rid of Addy people would be mad because she is the african american doll. I do like Addy though, just Sam more.

  931. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:43 pm

I’m kind of glad Samantha’s gone. Sure, I spent $236 to finish out her collection, but now there’s Rebecca, a whole new doll. Sometimes the old gets boring and it’s fun to exchange it for the new.

  932. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:49 pm

Yah I agree but I love Sam and I wish they would’ve given a sooner notice of her leaving. And I do like Rebecca. And my mom spent over $300 for the rest of Sam’s collection. But that is cuz I got Nellie and all of her clothes, and a few things I didn’t have for Sam.

  933. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:53 pm

It is just hard to see her go. I mean after all my Sam is ten years old so I’ve loved her for a long time. And she is my very first doll.

  934. Lily on June 8th, 2009 10:56 pm

If you still have the doll, she’s never gone. You just can’t buy new stuff from AG for her. I do understand how it was hard to see her go. I loved Samantha’s elegant collection. I wish AG would release a rich doll again.

  935. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 10:59 pm

Of course I still have her I can’t see myself getting rid of her. I practically have her whole collection and a bunch of her retired stuff (before they retired her). It is worth a lot of money but it isn’t worth it for me to sell it in my eyes.

  936. Selena on June 8th, 2009 11:03 pm

sorry i wasn’t on! I had a 2 1/2 swim meet (ughh, i have bruses from getting out of the pool each time!) then strait to a base ball game… (we sat in the hardly populatated left side, front row) were my bro got hit in the should by a (going 80 mph!) ball!!!!! then it bounced away, but the team gave him a new, better one (lol)

    bouna notte!!!!

  937. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:18 pm

AG has BF style. I’ll explain them here.

Elizabeth Style:Was in every book except one. Takes big part of main character’s life.
Ivy Style:Was in every book. Resourceful friend, and is similar to main character in many ways. Still, she dosen’t take big part in main character’s books.
Emily Style:Only appeared as important character in one of main character’s book.
Ruthie Style:True best friend. Appeared in every single book of main character’s. Has important part in each book.
Nellie Style:Gets good start in first two books. But in middle, usually it gets lost. In end, takes important part.

    Ana Rubin:Nellie Style.
    Singing Bird:Emily Style.
    Sarah:Elizabeth Style
    Maria:Emily Style.

  938. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:24 pm

AG movie divides into parts, too(They’re just my opinions).

Samantha:Feature-length movie with special features.(Includes Felicity Movie, and Molly Movie)

Kit:Full-length movie that has been appeared on movie theaters, had auditions(I don’t know what auditions had to do with movies, but I think it does take big part of movies. Special feature is all about audition),includes extra features. (It dosen’t count if some of extra features only work on computer,I think so).

    Chrissa:Full-length movie without extra features.

Julie is mot likely to be Samantha’s style,or her own style.

  939. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:25 pm

That is some cool info AG&FAN I knew some of those, but not others because I didn’t read all of the ag books. Although I want to. I should though cuz I know my library has them and I finish one book in a day so I don’t want to buy them cuz then it would be a waste. Enless I had the doll then I would buy the books.

  940. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:25 pm

And Lena, are you sure AG will release Julie movie next year? Is anyone buying Julie’s movie if it’s going to be musical?

  941. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:28 pm

I’m not Lena, but my lil sis called ag and they said that the next movie would be about Julie and it would be a musical. That was a couple monthes ago that she called.

  942. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:28 pm

My lil sis will probably get it because she has Julie.

  943. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:29 pm

I hadn’t read all the AG books, because of Beckie’s. I just looked through it. And it’s just my opinion. Someone who knows AG better than me would have better idea.

And one thing. I did have read all the AG character’s MAIN books except 4 of Beckie’s book. I’m just in middle of Candlelight for Rebecca. I’m reading them by order. Mostly,I didn’t read AG character’s books by order. Except Kit’s. I just started reading AG books and got to know about it this year. So I don;t really know about it well enough.

  944. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:29 pm

I think the musical is not a great idea. I dislike musicals; they’re cheesy. Just my personal opinion.

  945. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:30 pm

I’m pretty sure they will be making a movie though from that info and they have been making a lot of movies lately.

  946. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:33 pm

I’m not a big fan of musicals either enless it is The Sound of Music or something that is really well done. But I don’t think it will be that good because ag movies aren’t the greatest, but are good for little kids and they can’t tell the difference. Enless they get people who are REALLY good at singing, then I guess it will be okay, like the rest.

  947. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:34 pm

Oh! I am probably going to buy Julie’s movie. Is it going to be in theater? I also have one more question. I wonder if they’re going to have audition. Of course they might not choose girls for Julie and Ivy. I kind of get the story about not picking girls for main role. If you see Kit’s movie audition, then you’ll get AG is not going to pick girls for main role. Remember,2 classmates(they auditioned for kit’s movie) had about 1 or 2 sentences. Short compared to Frances and (I always forget her name easily. Yes that’s confusing.)her sister.

  948. AG&FAN on June 8th, 2009 11:36 pm

I don’t like musicals-too funky to be Julie’s style! I just wish AG would just put in Juie’s main song and put bunch of 70’s music.

  949. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:36 pm

I don’t know if it is going to be in theaters you could try calling or e-mail ag if you want.

  950. Taylor on June 8th, 2009 11:39 pm

Yeah that would be cool. They probably want to do something different so that is why they are doing a musical, but I’d rather watch a movie than a musical.

  951. Lily on June 8th, 2009 11:54 pm

    I think everyone does.

  952. Lena on June 9th, 2009 6:17 am

Just because a movie was “confirmed” on a news article doesn’t meant it will come out.

Who is Maria? Josefina’s Pueblo friend is named Mariana.

  953. Sara on June 9th, 2009 6:31 am

The musicals I like are (in no order!)

    1. Mary Poppins

    2. Sound of Music

    3. High School Musical

  954. Lena on June 9th, 2009 6:36 am

Oh, another thing. Ana likley won’t be made, as they stress how much she looks like Beckie in the books. Rose more likley will, since she is Beckie’s real best friend, and can be photoshopped more easily (to be blonde or whatever).

  955. Sara on June 9th, 2009 6:43 am

Oh, something funny, I was watching a DVD, (yes it was Mary Poppins!) and I think it was the director-or something like that, and he said that for a picture he was going to write “Holy Cow, who is that guy?” And he wrote, H-O-L, then they wanted a pic, then he wrote L-Y. And he wrote Holly Cow instead of Holy Cow! :) (This was for the Broadway production of Mary Poppins!)

  956. Sara on June 9th, 2009 6:44 am

Wow! I need to read Beckie’s books!

  957. Bookworm on June 9th, 2009 8:36 am

I’m on Rebecca’s 4th book! So far the best books has been Rebecca And Ana.

  958. Holly on June 9th, 2009 8:42 am

    i feel like a cow now…lol

i really like very few musicals
    1.Hairspray
    2.High School Musical
    3.Sound of Music

  959. Bookworm on June 9th, 2009 10:22 am

I updated my american girl doll blog with pics of Rebecca! Click my name if you’d like!

  960. Starr on June 9th, 2009 10:36 am

What do you think of Carpatinas? I really like Julia and I want to get her sometime….but I would probably change her name.

  961. Lily on June 9th, 2009 11:13 am

I like them and I was considering buying Emma and Isabella before they sold out, but I may buy a LOF or AG doll instead. Their outfits are pretty.

  962. Lizzie on June 9th, 2009 11:30 am

Has anyone noticed how Felicity and Elizabeth’s outfits are slowly disappearing?? I saw that their summer gowns, Felicity’s school dress, and birthday dress have all been retired! I e-mailed them about it, and they said that these outfits are no longer available for purchase. I was really upset, because I had wanted her school dress and their summer gowns! :( Also, Felicity’s carriage is no longer on the website either. I wonder if AG is thinking about retiring Felicity and Elizabeth?

  963. Lena on June 9th, 2009 11:52 am

    Not, retiring, archiving.

Lissie and Elizabeth are actually in less danger than Molly because they have a small collection. Bigger collection = more room taken up in werehouse.

  964. Lily on June 9th, 2009 12:03 pm

It’s not only in the warehouse where Molly and Emily’s products take up a lot of room; they take up a lot of space on the production lines in China. AG can’t endlessly expand their factory. They have to keep the amount of products they produce at a reasonable level or costs go up. Also, if there are too many dolls that are available, they have to compete with each other and fewer of each doll is sold. AG is big on mass production to keep costs down, so they don’t want to have to produce fewer of each doll.

  965. Lena on June 9th, 2009 12:08 pm

I really can’t tell if you agree with me or not.

  966. Sara on June 9th, 2009 12:58 pm

Man. I really want Sonali and Beckie!!!

  967. sarah on June 9th, 2009 1:08 pm

my fav. musical is GREASE :]. eh, a julie musical doesn’t sound amazingly great..

  968. Sara on June 9th, 2009 1:17 pm

Sry, but I don’t really like Hairspray (only I do like Zac Efron!!) or Grease.

  969. Lily on June 9th, 2009 1:38 pm

Lena, yes, I was agreeing with you. I was also elaborating on why AG archives dolls.

  970. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 1:45 pm

    :)

  971. Lena on June 9th, 2009 1:46 pm

Ok, sorry, I have a cold and I’m not in my head now.

I likes the original 1988 Hairspray, not so much the new one.

  972. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 1:50 pm

Hi Lena. Are you still on?

  973. Lena on June 9th, 2009 1:51 pm

    Yes.

  974. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 1:52 pm

    Cool.

  975. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 1:54 pm

Sorry I can never think of much to say.

  976. Lena on June 9th, 2009 1:57 pm

It’s ok. Me neither, I usually respond to what others say.

  977. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:00 pm

I usually just read what everyone writes but I don’t post many comments of my own anymore.

  978. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:06 pm

People consider me the AG expert (which I’m really not) and are usually aksing me things.

That, and I’m pretty social, but I’m stuck at home alone all day.

  979. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:08 pm

What is your opinion of Carpatina dolls, Lena?

  980. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:08 pm

My brother is really sick and my mom, a psychiatric nurse (with a nursing background, obviously), thinks that he may have swine flu. I feel so bad for him.

  981. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:09 pm

Yep I’ve noticed. Even if you aren’t an expert, you do know a lot about AG.
And it’s cool that your cousin works for AG.

  982. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:10 pm

    Hi Lily and Anne.

  983. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:11 pm

I always like to hear Lena’s opinion :)

  984. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:12 pm

As for musicals – I don’t really like any of them. Sound of Music and Mary Poppins probably top the list, but I would not go and watch them just for fun. Is Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang a musical? If so, it falls into the same category as above.
And yeah, the AG movies are not all that great (sweet but not amazing), so I’m sure a musical would be simply terrible. You never know, though, but I wish they would do movies on historical that have been around longer. Specifically, I’d like to see a Kirsten and as Addy movie. And maybe a movie would increase their sales, since they are both part of the “forgotten 4.”

  985. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:13 pm

    Ana Ming

I’m so sorry Anne! I hope he gets better!

    Aww, thank you!

I try to think things through logicaly.

  986. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:13 pm

    Hi to you too, Marcia!

  987. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:14 pm

I’d love to see movies (and friends) for the forgotten four!

    And Beckie.

  988. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:15 pm

It’s funny how 3 of the forgotten 4 are the 1800s dolls. AG needs to stop overdoing the 1900s and introduce an 1800s doll, which they haven’t done since 1997.

  989. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:15 pm

    *crosses fingers* Louisiana Purchase!

  990. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:18 pm

Lena, I didn’t necessarily mean which Carpatina was your favorite doll; I meant what is your overall impression of them (although I do like Ana Ming). I’m tempted to buy Emma and Isabella since they’ll be gone soon. I wonder why are they retiring the only white dolls? But maybe I shouldn’t even get started on Carpatina, because one doll becomes 3, and then they need outfits, which becomes a lot of money that could otherwise be spent on AG or LOF.

  991. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:21 pm

I think they will do the Lousiana purchase for 3 reasons:

    1. you (Lena) have heard talk about it
    2. it’s been 12 years since AG has released an 1800s doll
    3. severe retirements from Felicity’s collection

  992. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:21 pm

I like them, but if they are posed with AGs, the Ags look very fat next to them, since they aren’t much taller. Therefore, I won’t be getting one, because I prefer dolls that look good next to my Ags.

  993. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:22 pm

I’ve heard talk about a “Chloe” doll since the 90’s, so it’s very much possible.

  994. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:22 pm

anne,i feel so bad for your brother.

  995. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:23 pm

Speaking of Felicity, I wish her hair was still red as it was in the 1990s! I have a 1993 holiday catalog, and her hair is like carrot red. Now it’s auburn and can almost be mistaken for brown.

  996. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:23 pm

For the record, I also heard about a Native American doll (Kaya) and “Rebekha” (Rebecca) in the 90’s.

  997. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:23 pm

Do you think i have a chance of getting the part of julie in her movie?

  998. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:24 pm

Whoops, I fogot a 4th reason for a Louisiana purchase doll

    4. registering/trademarking of three French names

(what’s the difference between registering and trademarking?)

  999. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:25 pm

Not likley, since they seem to be using known actresses now. I wish they didn’t though, because I don’t like seeing people I’ve seen in more adult roles playing AGs.

I wish you’d get the part, Priscilla, but unfortunatly, Mattel has other plans.

  1000. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:25 pm

Yeah, all three 1800’s dolls are forgotten. How sad. I agree with you, Lily and Lena!

  1001. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:26 pm

Oh, yeah, is Chloe a French name or a name that would be common in the early 1790s (when a Louisiana purchase doll would’ve been born)?

  1002. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:26 pm

Registering means you are interested in trademarking, but have not done so yet.

Actually, the trademarks more match those of GOTYs, but no one is sure yet.

  1003. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:27 pm

well,do you think i have a chance of getting a water fountain girl
    ?

  1004. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:28 pm

Yes. It is is simple French name that would be suitable for a girl of color.

  1005. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:29 pm

Thousands of girls try out for those movies, so chances are very slim.

  1006. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:30 pm

Yeah, I hope they release some more non-white dolls. This is coming from a white person.

  1007. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:30 pm

Maybe Priscilla. But you have to remeber, the Julie movie was only in the planning stages, and many movies don’t get past that.

  1008. Lily on June 9th, 2009 2:30 pm

I love the name Chloe. I really hope there’s a Louisiana purchase doll . . . a rich one with a cool new face mold and skin tone!

  1009. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:30 pm

    I want my biracial historical!

  1010. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:33 pm

A Louisiana purchase doll would be cool.

  1011. Anne on June 9th, 2009 2:33 pm

My cousin’s name is Chloe. She was adopted by my first cousins as a baby and has down syndrome. She must be in 7 or so by now, and she has four other siblings. First, she was adopted, then her brother was a biological child. Then they adopted two girls form Ethiopia (one is younger than Chloe, the other is older) and, recently, their 16 year old brother.

  1012. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:36 pm

where are the julie auditions being held? i want a part so much.

  1013. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:37 pm

anne, does chloe still live in Ethiopia?

  1014. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:37 pm

Let me say this again. There has been no news of a Julie move other than the one article. It may not even make it past planning.

  1015. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:37 pm

I don’t know where they’re being held, or if they even announced where they’re being held yet.

  1016. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:39 pm

I want American Girl to make a doll from either the Titanic or slavery,i know there is addy, but i mean one who lives there the whole book.

  1017. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:40 pm

    I don’t think they’ll do a Titantic one.

  1018. priscilla on June 9th, 2009 2:40 pm

    bye,i’m going swimming.

  1019. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:41 pm

I doubt they’ll make a Titanic one, and slavery’s too touchy a subject. People were upset that Addy was a slave, when she was one for two chapters and the rest of the books were about freedom.

  1020. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:41 pm

    Bye. :)

  1021. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:42 pm

    I mean, Bye Priscilla.

  1022. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:49 pm

So… is anyone else still on or did you all leave?

    :)

  1023. Marcia on June 9th, 2009 2:53 pm

    Okay, well… bye.

  1024. Lena on June 9th, 2009 2:56 pm

Oops. I was still on… but I’m also doing Latin, so I’m very inatentive.

  1025. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:05 pm

Yeah, I’d love a Titanic doll, but that was 1912 – pretty much Rebecca’s era. Also, AG likes to focus on what girls as a whole experienced during a certain time period. Very few American girls were aboard the Titanic compared to the number who lived like Rebecca. AG would be criticized for sensationalizing a tragedy to get sales. And I don’t particularly want another slave doll. It’s too depressing and by the end of the books slavery would still be going on.

  1026. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:11 pm

I’d like to point out Addy is NOT the slave doll. Her storries are about freedom. Notice how her meet outfit is one she got AFTER she escaped, and has no accessories commemorating her time as a slave.

Same with LOF Laylie, most of her things are very important to her story and escape.

  1027. Holly on June 9th, 2009 3:12 pm

i want a girl from the south…. but it doesnt look like that is gonna happen =(

  1028. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:13 pm

If this so called “Chloe” comes out, she’ll be from the south.

And I’m hoping for a Cuban refugee girl, she would also live in the south, FL very likley.

  1029. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:16 pm

I know Addy is only a slave doll for part of her first book. I remember she got her cinnamon pink dress from a safe house while she was escaping. I just meant that if AG made a slave doll from an earlier time period, like the 1830s, there couldn’t be a satisfying ending because slavery would still exist. Even though Addy is technically not a slave doll, much of her stories revolved around finding family members after slavery during the Civil War.

  1030. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:19 pm

I simply meant that is AG was flamed for Addy, then that would be nothing compared to if they made a real slave girl.

  1031. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:21 pm

I don’t really like Louisiana as it is now. It’s a humid swamp and everyone from there loves LSU and loves to talk about Louisiana, which is mildly annoying. I’d love to read about it in 1804, though!

  1032. Sara on June 9th, 2009 3:22 pm

    Uh-oh! We’re past 1,000 comments! :( The reason I say that is cause it’s usually Char’s limit.

  1033. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:23 pm

Me too. I had a teacher from there once…. scary.

Plus, when New Orleans floods, it’s all over the news. We had very bad floods a few weeks ago, and who here heard of it? Really, I’m asking if anyone heard.

  1034. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:27 pm

Nasty state if you ask me. I’ve seen it up close and personal driving down streets in the French Quarter after 11:00 pm . . . after eating at Antoine’s, the nicest restaurant in New Orleans for a rehearsal dinner.

  1035. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:31 pm

I love the culture, but I don’t like how much attention it gets. Lots of places are like it, but no, NO has to be special.

  1036. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:43 pm

I agree that it shouldn’t get that much attention. Last week I heard about a FEMA trailers for Katrina – a storm that happened nearly 4 years ago. But I like the culture, just not the crime and the riff-raff that spilled over into my state.

  1037. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:44 pm

I guess you know which state I live in, now :)

  1038. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:47 pm

My state started having a mysterious crime wave right after Katrina…..

Well, I’ve said before I work at Disney and am on Eastern time.

  1039. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:49 pm

My state also mysteriously started having a crime wave right after Katrina…..

Well, I’ve also said before that I have an AG store in my state and am on Central time.

  1040. Holly on June 9th, 2009 3:54 pm

lena- where will chloe b from? (state) and is she a GOTY or a historical?

  1041. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:55 pm

Chloe was meant to be a Creole girl from the time of the Louisiana Purchase.

  1042. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:55 pm

Char, can you delete some of the older comments on this page so we can keep going?

  1043. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:55 pm

Is that a personal preference, or bona fide fact?

  1044. Holly on June 9th, 2009 3:56 pm

    ok! thanks lena.

do yall think they will ever make a GOTY from the south?

  1045. Lena on June 9th, 2009 3:58 pm

    I hope they will.

Chloe was just a rumor a friend told me (and i’ve seen the same thing on Playthings before), so she likley was in production, just never made it to the market.

  1046. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:58 pm

Probably; they need to. They’ve covered Colorado, New York, Illinois, California and a few other places, so it’s about time.

  1047. Lily on June 9th, 2009 3:59 pm

When you say she was in production, you mean there was a Chloe prototype? Or they made many of her?

  1048. Lena on June 9th, 2009 4:03 pm

Lindsey: never mentione where she lived, but I assume DC, because her dad needed a card to get into work, and that is required at the Smithsonian.
    Kailey: California
    Marisol: Chicago
Jess: Michigan (although her story was in Belize)
    Nicki: Colorodo
    Mia: NY
    Chrissa: Wisconsin

There needs to be one from the south!

The likley made a prototype, but decided she was too like Lisse, and dumped her.

  1049. Anne on June 9th, 2009 4:03 pm

No, Chloe was born in the U.S. The three children adopted form Ethiopia now live in the U.S. They live 15 min. or so away form me. Sorry if that was confusing, priscilla!

  1050. Lily on June 9th, 2009 4:07 pm

Time to go be productive! Good-bye!

  1051. Holly on June 9th, 2009 4:36 pm

i hope theres 1 from either alabama, georgia,or flordia.

  1052. Bookworm on June 9th, 2009 4:38 pm

I hope AG comes out a 50’s girl!

  1053. Lena on June 9th, 2009 4:40 pm

A 50’s girl who’s a refuge from Cuba is my hope.

  1054. Holly on June 9th, 2009 4:46 pm

thats a really cool idea lena!!!!

  1055. Lena on June 9th, 2009 4:48 pm

Thanks… and the cool thing…. she’d have to live in FL! (a lot of Cuban refugees even today live in FL)

  1056. Anne on June 9th, 2009 4:50 pm

I like the Cuban refugee idea but I think that they should come out with more 1800’s/1700’s dolls personally. Too many ones from the last century.

  1057. Lena on June 9th, 2009 4:52 pm

Oh, I want my Cuban girl, but first and foremost comes the Creole. Then maybe a gold rush girl?

  1058. Holly on June 9th, 2009 4:54 pm

cool, i knew that lena!!! my parents call miami ”little cuba” bcaz they r so many cubans there.

  1059. Lena on June 9th, 2009 4:57 pm

Yeah, there are. My neighbors are Cubans and they have family in Miami, lots of it. They offered to take me once, but I can’t stand the 4 hour trip. There isin’t even a now crossing the border sign to watch for.

  1060. Holly on June 9th, 2009 5:02 pm

im makin my way down to flordia monday =)

  1061. Lena on June 9th, 2009 5:03 pm

  1062. Anne on June 9th, 2009 5:03 pm

Cool. My aunt lives in Florida. Maybe we will go visit her someday.

  1063. Holly on June 9th, 2009 5:10 pm

    i will. panama city beach!!!
but yet my backyard is a river, and i want 2 go 2 another source of water for vacation. lol

  1064. Anne on June 9th, 2009 5:15 pm

We are going on vacation in August. We are going to Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada. In one of the two first states, we are staying in a rental house on 50 acres of land and doing a lot of hiking, and in Canada, we are staying on a houseboat for a week! They have this system where you rent a boat and can dock the boat anytime you want on various little islands and go sight-seeing! I am so excited.

  1065. Lena on June 9th, 2009 5:18 pm

I’m going to a small twon in Poland near the Czech border, and will be exploring the owl mountains. Such cool castles and mines!

  1066. Anne on June 9th, 2009 5:20 pm

We have never really gone on a vacation like this, so it should be a lot of fun! I have never been to either state, or out of the country (but everyone else in my family has). Oh, and on the way back (we are driving) my parents are going to drop me off at my uncle’s house (he lives in way upstate NY) and I am going to spend a week with him and my aunt by myself!!! I love them so much but hardly ever get to see them, and now I will have them all to myself for 7 days! Even though NY isn’t that far from where I live (seems far – my uncle’s house is 8 hours away from ours), life there is so different. I think I was there last at least 5 years ago and I have only seen him three times in all of those years, so it should be fun. Also, they don’t have any children and my brother isn’t coming, so I will get treated like an only child! It will be fun to sort of see what that is like!

  1067. Anne on June 9th, 2009 5:21 pm

I would love to go to Poland, since I am mostly Polish (and 4 or 5 other things).

  1068. sarah on June 9th, 2009 5:37 pm

what the heck! Over 2000 comments already!!! wow u guys’ve been busy, it seems like Char just started this….

  1069. Lena on June 9th, 2009 5:39 pm

I normally don’t like going to Poland (my family has very big issues amonst themselves) and I wouldn’t be going now, but for the promise of castle and mines. My uncle’s actually restoring the castle in my home town of Jawor (yah-vohr) and he promise me a tour of the place.

  1070. Lena on June 9th, 2009 5:40 pm
