Anytime I go to an American Girl store I take photos – lots of photos. I shared my first set of photos from the Grace debut last night, and Karen shared hers, too, but in going through my camera card, there were some good ones that did not make the first round. I still have more to go through, but here are a few more you will enjoy.
One of the displays of Grace and her Bistro set and her Baking set. I am not planning on getting the Bistro set because we have furniture very similar to that already, however the stand mixer in her Baking set is adorable and we may need to eventually get that set.
Part of her Baking set is an e-reader/tablet that she can use to find and reference recipes. It comes with three slides you can change out to make it look like she visited different websites. There is also a doll sized cookbook in the set. Too cute.
A closer look at the Bistro set chair and sign. Making a bistro sign of your own is super easy – just pick up a candlestick base and a mini chalkboard at the craft store and paint them to match. I am sure one of the Doll Diaries team will show us how to make a bistro sign using items from the craft store soon.
Another view of the Pastry cart. This is a higher priced item – $150 – but it comes with lots of pieces and has good play value. Again, we won’t be getting it because we have a tea cart from The Queen’s Treasures and plenty of doll sized baked goods which we can use to create one of our own..
A close up of one of the gift bags that comes with Grace’s Pastry cart – too sweet!
Natalie and I were REALLY hoping that they would have Macarons for sale in the Bistro or Sweet Treats counter. Unfortunately they did not – they did have Grace inspired cookies for sale, though. The sugar cookies have an edible decal that says Made with Grace – again, super cute.
The Grace photo op station is a cardboard stand up version of Grace and Bonbon and a cafe scene. The table and chairs are real, but the staff was telling people not to sit on the chairs.
Natalie is a little taller than Grace. Okay A LOT taller than Grace!
We originally heard that the only way to get Grace’s ears pierced was to order her online or via phone. Not true. The DC store was offering to do her ear piercing in store. All you have to do is tell the cashier at check out that you want Grace’s ears pierced and they will add the $16 to your bill, give you a receipt and you take her over to the Salon area and they pierce her ears. As far as I know, you can not buy these earrings separately.
To answer a few reader questions – yes, Grace can wear other AG earrings and all other AG dolls who have their ears pierced can wear Grace’s earrings. Also, when you get the ears pierced by ordering her, she comes with the red heart earrings as her starter earrings. At the DC store you had a choice – red hearts (which means you would end up with two pair) or silver stars. We chose silver stars.
Grace looks fantastic in this shade of light blue! Our Grace changed into her blue bow earrings and put on her pajamas as soon as she could!
What other questions do you have about Grace and her collection – or even some of the other new items at the store? I have more photos to share later today of non-Grace items.
