McKenna Movie Trailer

The much anticipated An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for the Stars will be out this summer – specifically on DVD & Blu-Ray on July 3 and then July 14 at 8pm on NBC right before the Olympics. The trailer for the movie is out and can be on YouTube.

The official movie synopsis:

Meet McKenna Brooks™, a determined and confident young gymnast, in this all-new modern-day adventure. McKenna™ is on track to make the regional competitive gymnastics team but off-track in school, where she’s suddenly struggling to keep up. When her teacher suggests a tutor, she’s embarrassed and desperate to keep it a secret from her friends. Then a bad fall at the gym sidetracks her from her favorite sport. Will she recover in time to make the team? Can she succeed in school, too? McKenna™ needs to focus on her strengths to overcome her challenges – and, with the help of family and friends, find a way to believe in herself again.

Ok, what do you think? I think it is going to be very popular!

  1. Erica says:

    caroline- Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lena- That’s sort of what i thought. And i think Julie is kind of similar Chrissa in a way. Chrissa moves, leaves her best friend, struggles to make friends at school, Only has one sibling, and there is a gruop of three girls at her school. But i love Chrissa’s books and Julie’s.
But i ca’t wait to see McKenna’s, i’v always wanted to do gymnastics ( i only did a class once when i was little, wasn’t much, but classes are to expensive these days. And if your home schooled, paying over $150 for only like 8 weeks and when you have five other siblings hoping to do activitys too, ) Other then that acting and music is my passion. I would like to take acting classes and vocal. But i love figure skating and the olympics. Why am I rattling on about mayself? Sorry, girls like daydreaming :) lol <3

  2. Princess Belle says:

LOVE the story. But I don’t think the actress playing Mckenna is the right actress to play her. Like Toulane’s actress. Josie’s is good, too. But I pictured McKenna a little diffrent. Oh well. Doens’t bother me so bad that I won’t see the movie! :) Can’t wait!

  3. Brinley says:

O MY GOSH!!!!!!! SOOOO EXITED!!!!!! the only thing is i didnt think that mckenna had different touters and then she found josie….

  4. Erica says:

Brinley : I know! I didn’t get that, in the books she DID NOT have other tutors. I think they could have made that better if she was thinking about what it would be like to have a tutor, and then she meets Josie and likes her. IDK.

  5. Brinley says:

:) one more thing she called toulaine koling……. (unless i heard it worng….)

  6. Brinley says:

OH! she said “its reaility calling!” haha opps

  7. April says:

After watching the trailer repeated times my daughters are excited, but disappointed that it clearly differs from the books so dramatically.
Jade looks like a sweet girl and a good actress, but she somehow doesn’t seem like the ‘McKenna’ we have all imagined from the books and doll. Her body doesn’t look strong like a gymnast either (unlike Ysa who looks very much the part-we wish she had been Ivy in a Julie movie).

  8. Amanda says:

I don’t know, I think she looks like her enough. Movie looks good!

  9. Syd says:

Yikes. That has got to be one of the worst trailers ever. McKenna looks very know it all and bratty. This is going to be one hard to watch movie!
    What cheese.

  10. Brinley says:

    april: i deffennetly aggre

  11. Sarah says:

Chloe- I’m sorry you had a bad day! Just gotta work harder to make the next day better. :)
I’m excited to see it! But I do agree Jade dosn’t look like Mckenna, but she dosn’t look mean. IMO. : D

  12. Grace says:

Haha, thank you Lena and Char :)

  13. caroline says:

i am super excited!!!!I think jade is an amazing actor and also she seems like a good mckenna.

  14. Agluvr says:

Once I go to new York in June, I am SO gonna get her! And more stuff obviously. Char, do you think I could send in pictures of the ag place in new York in mid July??????

  15. Char says:

Yes, please do! Trip reports and photos are always welcome!

  16. daniella says:

    i’m so thrilled :)

  17. Sarah says:

Agluvr- I hope you have a good time!

  18. Amanda says:

Omg Ysa has done so well as toulane

  19. Molly says:

I like the other movies better, but this one looks good….

  20. M says:

Oh,YAY! But I think I like the other movies a bit better.

  21. Agluvr says:

Thanks. I’ll send them in as soon as possible.

  22. Pretty Irish AG says:

If there were a Julie movie, I’d be first in line for Robin, the girl she and Ivy meet at the conservatory. But while I have a golden voice (according to my yoga teacher*), and some acting abilities (maybe), I don’t think I make the cut.

*To said yoga teacher: If you read this right now, you’re going to give me a long talking to when I get back to the studio.

  23. Gymnast4Life says:

omg mckenna is NOT supposed to be doing lvl 8 skills when in the books shes struggling to make the lvl 4 team. there is such and obvious difference and where is that other girl Sierra who apparently isnt good? im not sure if this movie will make it….

  24. Char says:

Gymnast4Life – I agree – but who would want to watch level 4 skills in a movie?? Maybe they should have thought that one through when they wrote the book.

  25. gaby says:

im a level 8 on floor and 6 on beam! im way better than her and im ten!

  26. Hanna says:

I SCREACHED when I saw this!!!!

  27. AGFan says:

OMG! Like one hour ago I just saw the trailer!
