Karen here and recently my niece and I thought it would be fun to make our own Disco Balls for the dolls to have a dance party. So we dove into our craft box and came up with a fun way to make our own shiny ball to hang over the dolls dance party room!

To create your own you will need:

  • 1 small to medium Styrofoam ball
  • Sequins in a rainbow of colors
  • Small push pins (or you can glue yours)
  •  Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • A Ruler
  • Non Marking Masking tape

Step 1- Assemble all your supplies. Measure and cut a small amount of ribbon from your spool about 6 cm.  Make a loop of the ribbon and secure it to the Styrofoam ball with pins. You can use hot glue or craft glue as well to secure the ribbon.

Step 2-  Begin placing the sequins on to your ball in random order and using the pins or glue to hold them in place. This step took us about an hour to complete as there was two of us and my niece is only 4 years old but it was fun to do and see how sparkly we could get the ball.

Step 3- Once your ball is covered in sequins it is time to hang it over your doll space. If you have an American Doll Room like we do you will want to unroll enough of your ribbon to cover the width of your doll room so that your Disco Ball will hang in the center of your room. If you are adding it to an existing doll house or shelf you may wish to hang your ball by a hook or tape it into place.

Once you have enough ribbon unrolled cut your ribbon and thread one end through the loop on your ball and tape the ends of the ribbon to the outside of your dolly play space. your Ball will be heavy if you used pins like we did so be sure to secure your ribbon with lots of non marking tape! Now your dolls are ready to dance!

I hope you enjoyed today’s doll play craft and I look forward to sharing more doll play ideas with you soon!
