Make a Valentine’s Place Setting for Dolls

Valentine Place setting for Dolls

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to show you how to make Valentine’s Themed Place Settings for your dolls.

To create a set for your dolls you will need:

  • Valentine Scrapbook paper or construction paper
  • Felt or fun foam for the “dolly napkin”
  • Self laminating business cards or clear packing tape
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • pencil
  • 4 doll sized hair elastic
  • heart shaped stickers with their backs on to use as “plates”
  • 4 toothpicks
  • aluminum foil
If you happen to be at Target, they have just about everything you need to do today’s activity in the dollar bins.

Step 1- Measure and cut your scrapbook paper so you have 4 rectangles that measure the same size as a business card, 2 inches by 3 1/2 inches.

Step 2- Open your self laminating sheets and position your cut paper on the non sticky side, then when you have it in place cover with the adhesive side, this makes your laminated place mat. If you are using packing tape, cut the tape long enough to over hang your paper by at least 1 inch. Place your cut paper on the tape with the design side up. Then cut and cover another piece for the top of your place mat and then carefully cover it matching the tape edges.

Step 3- Cut your Dolly napkins 1 inch by 2 inches, repeat 4 times. Slip a dolly hair elastic over the “napkin”, this will be your napkin holder.

Step 4- Cut four,  ½ inch by 1 inch square pieces of paper to become your doll sized place cards. Fold the paper in half like a card and write your dolls name on it.

Step 5- Use 4 medium sized heart shaped fun foam stickers with the back on as your dolly plates.

Step 6- Make your dolly forks. If you have pointed end tooth picks trim the points off. Next cut a 2 ½  inch piece of aluminum foil. Wrap your tooth pick tightly leaving ½ inch of aluminum foil hang over the tooth pick. Cut the over hanging  tin foil so it will look like a real fork. Repeat for the next four tooth picks.

Step 7- Place your dolly forks into the napkin ring of your dolly napkin.

Step 8- Put your dolly place settings on your dolly table or on a shoe box table. Set your table up and enjoy a dolly tea party!

Karen, thank you for sharing this. I know from your previous posts that you and your dolls enjoy tea parties and so do mine so I will put these ideas to use. I also really like Chrissa’s t-shirt and the idea of using the fun foam decoration in order to make the shirt work for a variety of dolly celebrations. Did you make her pretty headband, as well?

Love this! My daughter had a sleepover and I helped her and her friend do this. I actually had only one sticker, so I used it as a pattern to make felt plates. Then my daughter was looking at the scrapbook paper her friend used and she noticed it had large flowers on it..so she said “Mommy, I’m going to cut this out and make a platter out of it!” I was so proud at how she came up with that all by herself! She cut out the flower and I glued carboard to make it sturdier and we wrapped it in clear tape, but I would maybe use modge podge next time. Her friend made one too and added her own flair to it. Thank you so much for coming up things that spark kids creativity!
