Okay, confession time. I currently have a scrap of paper tucked into the book that I am hauling around and reading a few minutes at a time, here and there. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t have a few beautiful bookmarks that make me smile. One favorite bookmark is part of a set that I made and gifted to friends and family a number of years ago. It is a ribbon decorated with beads and charms and a felt bobble on one end. I passed by that fun bookmark on the shelf today and decided to make a simplified mini version for dolls.
This mini bookmark will save the spot in your dolls favorite book.
Plus it’s super cute peeking out the book.
Use something with a little more weight like a button and your bookmark will drape over the book. Oh, yes, love me a draping, dangling bookmark.
Making a Mini Bookmark
- sequins, buttons, jewels
- Fray Check -optional (Found in the fabric section of the store near the sewing notions, like the needles and pins!)
Cut the ribbon for each mini bookmark 1/2″ to 1″ longer than the book.
Add Fray Check to the ends of the ribbon to keep them from unraveling.
Decorate the bookmark on the ends of the ribbon with buttons, sequins, jewels and cut ribbon. I used hot glue to attach everything but a good craft glue should hold after it drys.
Sometimes the fun is in the details! These mini bookmarks are easy to make and cute for doll play.
Hey and while I’m at it, maybe I need a few longer versions of this bookmark to tuck into my current reads. I think this simpler version of my fancied up bookmarks would be better for my reading on the go and a lot more fun than those little scraps of paper!
