I love simple accessories. They add variety to outfits you already have.
I was flipping through the recent American Girl catalog and loved the gold hair clip that comes with their Gorgeous Gold Outfit.
I decided to try my own golden flower hair accessory out of Duck tape. Here it is with the amazing golden colors of fall happening right now.
I love the shape of the flower, which is different from some of the other Duct tape flowers I’ve made.
It was a quick, easy project and definitely worth sharing!
Let’s make one together!
- elastic chord
- Duck tape
Cut a strip of Duck Tape and fold it over, leaving a section of the sticky part of the tape uncovered. You need three of these strips all together.
Cut 6 large scallops on one tape strip. Repeat with 5 medium scallops and finally 3 small scallops on their own tape strips.
Connect the strips together largest to smallest.
Starting with the smallest scallops, start rolling up the strip.
Keep the roll tight to start with.
Let it relax a little as you continue the roll and pull the petals out flat. It will help shape the flower.
To add the flower to a headband, cut a small rectangle of felt and elastic chord to fit around your doll’s head. Fold the felt in half and glue the backside to the back of the flower. Sandwich the elastic chord in the folded over felt and glue it.
Time to try it on!
I love the rounded petals!
Of course you can make this out of any color/pattern of Duck tape you like but I am loving the gold right now!
