I had really wanted to get up to the American Girl store at Tyson’s Corner (Washington DC) this weekend, but right on the heels of finishing one huge project – the 100 Days of Doll Play – I decided to start another huge project – repainting the whole first floor of our house. What was I thinking??? Anyhow, Madelon was able to get to the DC store this week and has some photos and interesting insight to share as well.
Although we didn’t have reservations, the store had an opening and we had a delicious salmon lunch. American Girl had fun cards to embroider. On the back it says that Caroline embroidered a secret map to help her Father escape after he was captured by the British. The fireworks represent the patriotism during the war of 1812.
There was an American Girl historical scavenger hunt you could do and they were giving out this Caroline poster as well.
One of the Caroline displays at the American Girl Washington DC store.
This is a close up of Caroline’s embroidered map.
Close up of her food basket.
A great view of her skiff and the food basket.
Caroline’s Birthday Party table setting. Oh, yes, I love this set!
Ooh, a little glimpse of Caroline’s cat, Inkpot, in her Birthday Dress display. It looks like there may be a drawer that pulls out on her table – very smart!!
Thanks so much to Madelon for sending these photos in! I can’t wait to get to the store to see all these goodies up close myself!

I recommend reading Caroline’s books. They’re very well-written and it’s a great series so far!

I like her in the past, but I like modernizing everyone. Especially since I can’t get Sam and Nellie’s collection anymore, everyone is contemporary now
