Did you know that the Madame Alexander doll headquarters is still in Harlem, NY and you can take a tour of the 600 doll Heritage Gallery (also referred to as the museum), have a birthday party there , view their design process, and visit the company store??? I wish I would have known about this when we visited New York a few years ago. And, it will definitely be on my itinerary the next time we are in New York.
Just in time for its 87th birthday, the Madame Alexander website has just be re-launched. It is not only a great resource for collectors, but it has an online store and contains all the information you need for booking a tour, birthday party or getting the latest company news.
Some interesting Madame Alexander doll facts:
- Beatrice Alexander Behrman founded the Alexander Doll Co. out of her kitchen in 1923.
- Her father, Maurice, founded what is believed to be America’s first doll hospital on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
- The Madame Alexander doll partnerships with Fifth Avenue toy retailer FAO Schwarz began in 1923 and it’s partnership with Walt Disney started in 1933.
- In 1940s, Madame Alexander dolls were the first dolls with “sleep” eyes that open and close.
- Over 6,500+ Madame Alexander dolls have been produced with only a few different face molds – the dolls originality lies in the various costumes.

Uh! I commented 60 Ramona facts but they are awaiting moderation.
I posted 83, Maddie!
I think the contest is over. The winner is… Emily!!! (duh)
No, I was going to post more!
But yeah I guess she is the winner…….. for now! Emily, did you look ANYWHERE? Like the books, internet? I knew all mine by heart! Oh, and I am not trying to be a sore loser or anything.. it’s all for fun!
Ramon fact 61: Emily L. and Madeline are her biggest fans!
*Ramona
But ya gotta admit, 60 is still pretty good.
Just because I didn’t put 5 trillion facts doesn’t mean I’m not a Ramona fan
That’s true, Ava. Wowie, I won? I NEVER win anything!. Fact 84: You, Ava, and many other girls still enjoy her to this very day. I have all the books, and even though I only have Ramona The Pest right now, (I’m at my grandma’s,) I guess I remembered all those facts! In fact, I wrote a big article about the many different types of covers! (I found those pictures off Google Images!)
P.S. Ramona, 60 IS good!
I’m not bragging, it’s just that I normally would NEVER be able to write 83 facts!
P.P.S. Than again, facts is one of my favorite thing to write!!!
Woops! I meant Madeline, Ava, and many other girls still enjoy Ramona Gerladine Quimby to this very decade.
You know, just because people do or don’t make lots of facts, it doesn’t mean they aren’t Ramona fans. Some people are better at remembering, and others aren’t. And the fact thing was kind of a fun game, not really a test to see who likes her better.
There’s a Ramona sweepstakes you can enter on her site! Check it out!
In fact, I am going to make a new site. Ramona fans forever!
Ramona fans forever!!
TOTALLY!
Maddie, can you put that as a your link? THANKS!
Yeah! Ramona fans all the way!
Oh my gosh, the Ramona website is WAY awesomer than before! Click my name!
I know, Michaela! It looks so…… fresh! LOL!
Oh, and I entered the Sweepstakes!
Cool!!
Hi, Ava! Just to let you know, I love your icon!
Thanks! I don’t really like the unicorns, though. What do you think of them?
They’re okay. They remind me of Charlie the Unicorn! Plus, I love unicorns!
I do love me some Charlie the Unicorn, but these unicorns just seem… girly.
(Says the girl commenting on a doll website)
I know what you mean, Ava.
Not that I hate unicorns, but you can barely tell what it is. It looks like a strange horse with a crown on its head. I have never really thought about unicorns, but they are ok. It depends on what thing.
Yeah, the one icon I liked the most was those shapes that are on Madeline’s site, do you know what I mean? If you don’t, just go to her site and look at the icons next to comments.
I liked the monster ones best.
Really? They were my least favorite, actually. They were just too creepy looking.
I love creepy stuff! Maybe that’s why they were my favorite.
That makes sense, Madeline.
Monsters? I don’t remember having monsters.
Anyway, the site is up! Click here:

You might have to draw your own characters, unfortunately. Those images are probably under copyright. Too bad.
BTW your website is so cute!
Good idea, Ava! I will try that.
And thank you! It’s kind of brand-new, so there is not much on there. But check back in soon! Oh and the thing with Ramona’s eyes is that’s all that could fit and it gives the feeling of top-secret-ness.
Oh, sorry. The drawing character’s idea is a good idea, better than mine. I never come up with good ideas.
I know how you feel, Michaela!
I never heard your ideas. You should suggest them. Who knows, they could be better than mine.
Look a couple posts ago, Ava. Then you’ll see my idea that wasn’t very good.
Hey guys! I have been working very hard to draw my characters. So far I have drawn Ramona, Howie, Will Jean, and Perfect Susan- and I am not copying or tracing, either. Not to brag, though! I can’t seem to get Beezus right. Hmmmm….
Are you doing characters from other books, like Ralph S. Mouse or Ellen Tebbits? (I loved those books, too!)
Well, my website will be mainly focused on Ramona’s world, but I may add some Ralph and Mitch and Amy and stuff like that later.
Ok, so I haven’t read Ramona the Pest in a while, and I need to make sure, Susan is mean, right?
Well, Susan isn’t really MEAN in Ramona The Pest or ever in the series, she’s just kind of a tattletale in Ramona’s perspective. So, yeah, I guess she’s kind of mean, whichever way you see it.
It’s only Ramona who doesn’t like her.
Oops, I typed my e-mail wrong!
Ok, thanks. I needed to make sure!
I am going to see Toy Story 3 tonight! I hear Ken does a fashion show with all thevalmost all the Ken oufits. Maybe there will be a Ken’s dream hjouse next year!
KEN’S dream house? No offense, but that sounds creepy…….
It’s supposed to be a joke in the movie. Personally, I think Ken deserves a Dream House
You’ll love Toy Story 3, Alyssa! It’s great!
Ava. Next year is Ken’s 50th bday! He came out March ,13 1961. Ken never had a dream house.
Yeah, Ava, your right, but the sound of it just sounds creepy.
I saw it! It was so sad Andy gave his toys away and he wanted them! He should have put them in the attic in the first place. I like Ken! he was so funny! Barbie was too! Most of the oufits Ken put on were real expeect the one Barbie riped with the ken tag they had on the Ken oufits in the 60′s.
