One of the new BeForever outfits from American Girl I have liked from the start is Kit’s new outfit. It’s simple and I like the colors.
Now in the big scheme of things, this outfit is NOT one of the best values you can get from American Girl. It is $36 and only includes a sleeveless dress and shoes. Really AG – you couldn’t even include the tiny little red hair barrette? The hair accessories only come with the outfit if you buy a new Kit. Now, I am not sure if it can be ordered as a replacement item or not, but honestly, you could get a similarly shaped little girls barrette and it would do the job. You can also use the red barrette from Kit’s Hair Accessories set.
That said, I still really like this outfit!
We have had Kit since 2005 so here hair has a few fly-aways, and her vinyl is a little shiny in spots but she is very well loved! I happen to love the longer angled cut of her hair – as compared to the BeForever Kits who have shorter hair.
Even though I think the $36 price tag for this dress is too, high, I will say I just LOVE the fabric the chose and the little details like the ric-rack trim and little red flower buttons.
The fabric in her belt is red eyelet.
The flowers on the printed fabric are sweet. The green is definitely more of a bluish green and the red/pink work well with it.
The dress from the back. It velcros up the back and this material does not snag. This dress combined with Kit’s short hair make her the PERFECT first American Girl doll for younger girls. They can brush her hair and it really doesn’t tangle and this dress is very easy to care for.
Kit’s new red shoes are cute – simple but cute.
Kit’s old Reporter Outfit also has red shoes which I think are even cuter than her new red shoes. And, if you are quick – because I have no idea how long AG will continue to sell it – Kit’s old Reporter Dress is still available online for $28 and comes with the dress, white socks, red shoes and a headband. To me, that is a much better value!
Kit will always be one of my favorites (if not my absolute favorite) because she reminds me so much of my Grandmother in Ireland. When we visited my Gran in 2005, Megan took Kit with us and my Gran was fascinated by her collection. She pointed out things that she had as a child and gave us quite a lesson about fashion in Kit’s day.
What do you think of the new items in Kit’s collection? Any favorites?
