In anticipation of the Disney/Pixar movie BRAVE coming out tomorrow, our Madame Alexander Favorite Friends doll who we named McKayla and Kanani are dressed in Medieval gowns from Carpatina and are playing the roles of Merida and her Mother, Queen Elinor.
In the movie Queen Elinor has her long hair split into two low ponytails that are wrapped in gold cord. I didn’t have any gold cord so I did the same style on Kanani and just used purple ribbon instead. You need about 48″ of ribbon per ponytail to do this style.

How do you do the ribbon work on each ponytail? It doesn’t look like it is braided in so I’m not sure.
Just wrap the ribbon around each ponytail crisscrossing as you go. Start at the top and work your way down. Should I do a step by step post?

Are you sure it is spelled Elinor? My cousins name is Eleanore and she spells it differently
Caroline – I am 100% sure. That is how the movie web site has it spelled. My daughter’s best friend spells it that way, too. There are a few different ways to spell it.
