Juliet rescued two dolls from eBay but had to rewig them both. I’d like to thank her for taking the time to share these photos with us!

Hi everyone, these are the two Pre-Mattel dolls I re-wigged. Both dolls were bought on eBay – the blonde is Kirsten and the brunette is Molly. I apologize for forgetting to take an “after” picture of the Molly doll, but she has red hair that is curly like Lanie’s and freckles. I also needed to add more stuffing to her body so I removed the head. Now I can tell you; there is nothing creepier then seeing a bald headless doll; so I didn’t think to take a picture. Now on to the photos!

Here you can see that Kirsten’s hair was a MESS! Her hair was puffy and tangled; and she may have had a visit to the barber shop. Poor Girl!

To be honest, the friend who was doing this with me DID poof her hair a little on purpose for effect, but you can still get the point; you braided it and it went POOF, you brush it and it goes POOF, you touch it and POOF, you DON’T touch it and POOF!

This was us pulling off the wig. This was the second doll we did and it came off in 15 minutes or less with just our hands and a spoon. The other one was a half hour or more with knife and nail polish remover and spoon.

We got the wig off and you can see that bald dolls are CREEPY! It was worse in real life.

Introducing Kalie! We put the wig on sideways so she could have a side part. We were going to cut the wig short, but after seeing the long hair, I couldn’t bear to!

Now you can see why I didn’t cut the hair. Its like Kanani’s, but a lot thinner.

Now on to rescue number 2! We used a small squirty thing to apply NON-ACETONE nail polish remover to Molly’s wig.

A spoon can help to get leverage. if not, see below:

Yes, we did actually get so desperate as to use a butter knife; but it did FINALLY get the wig up and resulted in only a small rip in the wig cap.

Here is the wig halfway off. You can see the little hairs and bits of the cap still stuck to the doll (EWWWW…)

After about a half hour of pulling, tugging, and ripping: you can see the bald dolly!

If you have any questions, post them in the comments and I will try to answer as best I can. – Juliet
