Most of our dolls are still trying to get their Christmas outfits ready for the big celebration this weekend, but Julie and Ivy are ahead of the game and were ready for their photos this morning.
In the 1970’s – the time frame for Julie and Ivy’s stories – the Polaroid Instamatic cameras were popular. You would load a cartridge of special photo paper into the camera, take the photo and the camera would “spit out” (sorry – can’t think of a better term) your photo and you would have to wave it around and wait for about 1 minute for the photo to develop. It was a lot of fun, but not very cost effective. In this first photo, Julie’s older sister took a Polaroid photo of them to hang on their bulletin boards.
I do not have Julie or Ivy’s Christmas dresses yet so they have borrowed from the general stash. Julie is wearing the Chocolate Cherry Outfit from 2005 and Ivy is wearing the Frosty Party outfit from 2011.
“Ummm, hey Julie – your shawl, collar thing is messed up. It needs adjusting,” said Ivy.
“Oh, thanks,” replied Julie.
“Better?” whispered Julie.
“Perfect” answered Ivy, “but I think we look a little stiff in this photo – relax a bit Julie!”
Have your dolls had their holiday photos taken yet? Do you think we should have ONE more reader photo contest before the year is over? Which one of Julie and Ivy’s photos came out best?
