Karen here and today is the start of the Hanukkah. To celebrate I have created a Menorah craft you can make for your dolls. Both 18 inch and 6 inch dolls can take part in your holiday play when you create your own Menorah out of Sculpey Clay.
To make your own you will need:
- Sculpey Clay in Silver, Blue and Yellow
- Sculpey tools or Plastic Craft knife and tooth pick
- Sculpey Work and Bake Mat or wax paper
- Oven safe baking sheet
Your oven preheated to the recommended setting found on your clay packaging
Step 1- Cover your work surface and unwrap your clay. Work out the silver clay into long log shapes. Create two triangles about the same size. Then press them into each other to create the Star of David as shown in the photos above.
Step 2- create 9 small balls of silver clay which will be the candle holders for your Menorah. You need 9 as the longest candle on the top of the star is called a Shamash . Place these little balls as shown and use the sculpey tool to press a hole for your candle to fit in.
Step 3- To create the candles you will need to roll out the blue clay into thin logs. Make the Shamash slightly longer. Gently press them into the holes you created.
Step 4- Use the yellow clay to make the candle light. Press gently into the top of your candles.
* To make the smaller Menorah for your 6 inch dolls make your Menorah about 1/3 the size of your 18 inch doll one. Follow all the same steps.
Step 5- Place your clay menorah’s on the baking sheet and bake according to the directions on your clay package. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before giving to your dolls to play with.
If Hanukkah is a holiday you and your family celebrate I wish you and your family a Happy Hanukkah!
