We went to American Girl Place Chicago this past weekend and these are some of my photos. I will be adding more.
Spring themed window display. I love how they transformed the Sweet Treats Bakery into and Ice Cream Shop.
Part of the mural (I guess that’s what it is called) coming down the escalator.
On the second floor once you go through the Just Like You doll area there is a “street” with the Crafts-to-Go area, Doll Hospital, party room, t-shirt kiosk, Sweet Shop and at the end of the “street” there is the Cafe.
Closer photo of the Crafts to Go area on the second floor. Girls can pick from 6 different doll related crafts to purchase and do at the store.
So here is me, Char – the creator/moderator of Doll Diaries posing in front of one of the Chrissa displays. My husband thought I looked like Chrissa and should pose with her.

The ice cream shop thing looks new. Humm…………maybe it’s not for sale though.
Selena – usually my hair is curlier, but I decided to flat iron it that day, but yeah, I think Chrissa is my JLU.
Savanna – the ice cream shop is really just a modified version of the Sweet Treats Bakery set – they created a top and sign for it. It was too cute.

I’d say Char’s more of an original mold, but the hair is dead on, and so is they eye color from what I can see (please correct me if you don’t have blue eyes, it’s kinda hard to tell)

I want Mia but I was so stupid I didn;t buy her!!!

Lena, got your message, she has loose body parts and on her neck it says pleasent company. also she came with her Retired Swedish Dirndl Outfit.
You do look quite a bit like Chrissa, Char! Your hair and eyes are exactly the same and the Josefina mold looks like your face. I sort of look like Sonali, but not really, since I’m a lot paler.
I can’t believe that they put Felicity and Elizabeth at a modern table in the window display…but anyway those outfits aren’t historically accurate so I suppose they could just be modern girls in costume.
The doll crafts look cool, what where they?

A neck stamp does not mean she is PC. I have a Kit (who came out after Mattel took oer) that has the PC neckstamp, and some people even have Julie that says PC.
Th best way to tell if she is PC is her eyelashes. are they soft and light? She is PC. A PC doll is also much chubbier than the current dolls, her face and legs beigh thicker (My kit who I got in 2004, is much chubbier than my Sonali)

I still think she is a PC because her lashes are slightly light but she is really, really old. I can tell her eyes are different compared to my newer dolls.

I know, but the dirndl is not on my list of must gets, and it usually goes for high prices.

Oh ya Lena, no offense to Kirsten but she smells like shes been in a basement for years, she could have a daughter in college who once loved Kirsten and know, that daughter says shes going to give up Kirsten. and now, shes mine.

OH! Thanks Char! It IS very cute! I thought that some of the accessories on the table were new but I looked close and realized that they were not new. I want to go to AGP Chicago and make a cute doll shirt. TTFN! Ta-ta for now!
My just like you with brown hair, blue eyes, bangs, classic mold, (which by the way is not my JLY image, hehe) is, I’m pretty sure PM. I got her in 2000 from my grandma, she said she got her before mattel took over. Wow, you know I’ve always wondered why a lot of my AG clothes don’t fit on her, and I recently found out why. Her skin tone is completely worn and her lip color is really white and her hair is so thin but I love her so much, she’s probably my most special doll. She has pleasant company on the back of her neck. Don’t get me wrong, I love my newer AG dolls that mattel made, but my original JLY just feels more special. And whoever said a while back that they like how they used to call them “girl of today dolls” instead of “just like you”, I AGREE!!! I also have a ton of these little sticker circle pins that used to come with the outfits, they’re super cute, anyone have any?

I got into AG after those came out, but my friend did give me some of those “mini-grin pins” as AG called them.
BTW, I won the old red, white, and blue cheerleader outfit on ebay! My old school was called Freedom, so it fits my school colors. Plus, Sonali’s happy!

I have all the core historical characters books (cept Rebecca, obviously) and I love them all. I haven’t watched TV all week, instead I’ve been reading (cept 1 hour thursday, only because my fave show was on). I love books!
