Happy 100th Birthday Girl Scouts of America

Happy 100th Birthday Girl Scouts!! On March 12, 1912 the first Girl Scout troop was was founded by Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low in Savannah, GA. Today there are more than 2.3 million girl members and 880,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers.

Girl Scout Dolls

Adora Doll has the official license for selling all things Girl Scouts for 18″ dolls. The uniforms are accurate right down to the last detail. While you can buy some of the Girl Scout licensed casual wear separately, you can not just buy the uniform for the the dolls at Adora – you have to purchase them on a doll for $69.95.

If you are looking for just the Girl Scout Daisy, Brownie or Junior uniform components, “un-official” and handmade versions can be found on Etsy, Ebay and through Sew-Dolling. For great Girl Scout resources, I recommend GirlScoutGuide.com and The Joyful GS Leader.

  5. I just made Brownie uniforms for my daughter’s dolls. They are not as perfect as the ones on the pictures but they are perfect for playing.
I also share the pattern for making the vest (which works for any level).

Happy Birthday Girl Scouts! I was a Brownie and Junior G.S. and have many fond memories of our meetings and activites. On my to-do list for the 18′” dolls is making G.S. uniforms, so I really appreciate Morgane’s links and ideas, they were very helpful. Thank-you.

  8. Grace says:

So cute! Where I live they don’t have girl scouts but they have girl guiding. Girl guiding always sells cookies around this time so my cupboards are full of them!

  9. H says:

I want to do girl scouts! But there aren’t any troops where I live. At least, none that I know of.

  10. Caitlin says:

Hey Char, I did an outdoor photoshoot with my dolls, and I was wondering if I could sent a few pictures in.

  11. Anastasia says:

Cool! I used to be a Brownie and a Girl Scout! : )

  12. Char says:

Caitlin – sure – send them in and I will feature them in a Sunday Reader Photo post.

  13. Sharry says:

Happy Birthday Girl Scouts! I use to be a senior when I was a high school. I went on camping trips, sang at senior citizens homes, sold cookies, represented the Bahamas at the International Food Fair, and helped Brownies cross the bridge to turn Juniors. And then I had to quit for family reasons, but that one year was one my best memories ever. WTG Girl Scouts!

  14. Melody says:

Brownies yay! We all were one of them.

  15. Gretchen says:

I’m a junior! I think it’s so cool that girls back then helped grow what we do today.
