The German doll manufacturer Götz (or Goetz or Gotz) has been making high quality dolls since the 1950s and have three basic lines – play, artist editions, and licensed dolls. When we were at American Girl last week we walked around other stores in the mall and I noticed a doll display near the entrance of Pottery Barn Kids. Since our local mall is pretty small and doesn’t have many of the larger stores, I was not aware that Pottery Barn Kids carried dolls. Of course, I had to take a closer look and these cuties are made by none other than Götz.
First – from the Pottery Barn Kids website:
The four dolls available are 18″ play dolls similar to their American Girl cousins and sell for $90 on the Pottery Barn Kids website. They are: Megan (red hair), Maya (black hair), Ashleigh (blonde hair) and Marianne (brunette hair).
Here are Marianne (cute glasses!!) and Ashleigh in their boxes on the shelf in the store. Unfortunately I was using my iPhone to take the photos and the lighting was horrible.
And these are Megan and Maya hanging out on the shelf. They are super cute, but do remind me of American Girl little sisters as their faces are more like 6-8 year olds where as American Girl dolls are modeled after 10-11 year old girls.
This is one of the displays they had set up with Marianne wearing what looks to be the Winter Skating outfit which is on sale now.
Another one of the displays – this looks like Megan wearing a ski outfit that must be sold out now.
The Goetz doll accessories are just too adorable!! These are pink boots that they were selling in two-packs with another pair of shoes in the store but they sell the boots on their own at the website for $19.00.
Seriously, how cute are these bike/skate helmets for the dolls!! Pink polkadots will look adorable no matter what doll you have. The helmets are also on sale at the PBK website right now for $22.
And what about these adorable Sherpa Chairs that fit 17-18″ dolls. Again, could it be any cuter than this?? These are $34 on the PBK site, too.
I am not sure how often Pottery Barn Kits releases new outfits and accessories for these dolls, but they are so cute!! I would love to pick up one of the dolls or an item or two to do a side by side comparison with our other dolls. I am going to definitely keep watching for sales.
You can also find a few Götz 18″ dolls from their Precious Day Collection from 2011 on Amazon for $69 right now. I do not know if these are essentially the same doll or whether there are differences or not. Again, I will need to do more research. Below are Jessica and Elizabeth.
As always, if you have any photos or insight on this line of dolls, feel free to share!
