Retired American Girl Items – What Is Your Favorite?

I was flipping through one of my daughter’s old American Girl catalogs the other day and came across the American Girl Tennis & Golf Set. All I could say was, “How cute is this and how did we miss this one?” Of course, now I am bidding on one on Ebay, because I just HAVE to have it. I hope American Girl is planning on coming out with a new version of the outfit in the near future.

So, today’s question… What retired item – outfit, furniture or accessory – do you wish you would have gotten when it was available or wish American Girl would release a new version of?

American Girl to Archive Felicity and Elizabeth Collections Next

It is official – according to the American Girl website, the next historical dolls to be added to the American Girl archives will be Felicity and her best friend Elizabeth. There is plenty of speculation as to why they are being retired or what American Girl will be replacing them with.

If you have Felicity or Elizabeth items you would still like to have, I recommend getting them ordered sooner rather than later.

Sanrio Collection from BuildaBear Workshop

We were at the mall the other day doing some back to school shopping and I saw the new Sanrio collection at Build a Bear. All I can say is… Oh, the cuteness!!! Seriously, I just don’t think I could get away with just bringing home one of them – so I had to resist all together. Which one is your favorite?

American Girl Opening Washington DC Area Store

Squeeee! This just in! American Girl is opening another store in the summer of 2011 just outside the Nation’s Capital in the Tyson’s Corner Center in Mclean, Virginia. You can guarantee we will be making a trip or ten to visit it (since it is just not that far from me!)

According to the press release:

The new American Girl store will offer the complete assortment of the company’s popular historical and contemporary dolls, along with doll outfits, accessories, girl-sized clothing, and a variety of best-selling American Girl books. In addition, American Girl fans will be able to enjoy a meal and a delicious dessert or celebrate a birthday in the store’s fun and casual 110-seat Bistro, treat their dolls to a new hairdo in the Doll Hair Salon, or design a cute doll-sized T-shirt in the “Creativi-Tees” boutique. A variety of girl-and-mom-friendly events and programs will also be offered throughout the year.

American Girl of the Year 2011 Scoop

Ok, so it is August and we don’t have much info about the 2011 American Girl of the Year (GOTY) doll yet, but one sleuthy reader did find that according to Amazon, Lisa Yee is the author of both books. As you may remember, Lisa Yee wrote Good Luck Ivy.

There is no title yet, just the author info, pre-order info and a release date of January 1, 2011.

Madame Alexander Alice in Wonderland Happy Meal Toys

Someone emailed me asking if the Alice in Wonderland Madame Alexander dolls were going to be featured next in McDonald’s Happy Meals, and I am glad to say… YES! I am not sure of the exact dates, but if you go to HappyMeal.com, you can see that along with Batman, the Madame Alexander dolls are next – right after the Littlest Pet Shop ones.

Hi, It’s Alex17, the daughter of Doll Diarie’s owner Char. I have been asking my Mom if I could help her manage the Doll Diaries site for 2 years. Finally, today she said I could!

My first assignment was to take a picture, so here is a picture of Chrissa and her friends having a party. I think the set up was very cute with Sonali, Chrissa, and Gwen. I hope you like the picture.

PS – I get to write the posts, but my Mom does edit them before I can publish it… just to make sure everything is spelled right and all that good stuff.
