Even though I did not buy Molly when we were at the American Girl store over the weekend, I did buy something from her collection – I bought Emily a her purple holiday dress. Now that Emily and the Queen are friends and all, I thought she could use something a little fancier.
I took Emily outside to do a little photography but before I could pose her for a second photo it started raining. Emily’s Holiday Dress is a pretty dark purple with light purple frills and even though it is supposed to be her “holiday dress” the simplicity and color of this dress make it wearable all year long. The outfit comes with the dress, a hair bow, beautiful pearl necklace (my favorite part of the outfit) and frilly white ankle socks.
The hair bow is the one part of this outfit I just don’t understand. Emily’s hair is not really long enough to put into a proper ponytail and this ribbon is attached to a thick ponytail holder. I think they would have been better to have given Emily another headband or a pearly hair barrette instead.
The frilly white socks are a cute touch and this really is a pretty dress that Emily can wear all year long. Now Emily would like to know when her friend Molly is going to be here! She is getting a little tired of waiting.

That is one beautiful dress , Emily is my second or third favourite AG doll and I think she will be my next best friend character, Char, do you recommend Emily or Ruthie more?
Ava, we don’t have Ruthie yet, but hope to get her eventually. Emily is a very easy to care for doll who looks great in clothes of every era! Besides Chrissa, I think Emily may be our most photographed doll.

My mom doesn’t reallylike that dress but I do, kinda. I don’t think an all purple dress looks good (even though its my favorite color) I love the style though
I got this dress when I got my Emily doll which was on Christmas moring all moring she had on her meet oufit and the wearable items from her accesories that night when we went over to my Gradparent’s I put her in her Holiday outfit my mom kept yelling at me to get my hands off her hair, I could barely even play scrible without messing with her ponytail. Plus I put in anothher dolls hair annd left in for a couple of days because I like the way it looked and the ponytail holder has some of her hair and knot in it. :/
I wish I had Emily! My mom, and I both agree that we really love Emily, and Molly. All her clothes are just absolutely cute, and sweet, and like her holiday dress, beautiful. The picture you took in the backyard I thought was just breathtaking! You did a really good job!
I did not like Emily in this outfit at all until I used the bow as a head band with the bow on the side of her head. Made all of the difference in how she looked with her hair loose. I also poufed out the dress a bit with her bloomers. What a difference. I don’t know why AG wants Emily’s hair pulled back in that outfit as I don’t think she looks festive or pretty that way at all in it.

I have Emily and got this for her the last time I was at the store. I have all of te Christmas outfits for my dolls now except Elizabeth but I have a knock off. Kind of a collection thing going.
Ava- I have Emily and Ruthie. It depends on what you want. If you want easy to manage then get Emily. I personally love Ruthie because of her unique style but I love them both. Ruthie is high maintenance so beware of that.
You’re right about the hair holder. Although I don’t have Emily I have the outfit and I haven’t thought about how the hair can’t really fit into a ponytail I don’t understand why they would put the holder as a part of it. Maybe you can just take part of the top hair on one side and put it in.
SO pretty. my niece got this on our last trip to the ag chicago store. i have a feeling that molly and emily will be retired very soon…
