My daughter got a sewing machine for Christmas and some doll clothes patterns along with all the goodies to go with it. She was so anxious to do a project and I wanted to have her start with something simple, so we picked a scarf as the first project.
We used the Simplicity pattern 2302 which is all very cute and simple patterns for a sleeveless top, sleeveless dress, simple jacket, scarf and even some shoes. We bought some fabric remnants for her to use on starter projects and have plenty of ribbon left from various projects, too.
The scarf was basically a triangle sewn right sides together then turned right side out and ironed. We added ribbon for ties and it turned out so cute. Erin, the slim body 18″ Carpatina doll was our model (more about Erin coming soon – she is the cutest!).
The project took about an hour start to finish, but that was because we were figuring out the new sewing machine and I was teaching my daughter the basics as we went. Something tells me we will be sharing even more of her doll projects in the weeks to come.
