Please join me in a series of posts that I will be doing on “Decorating Your Dollhouse!”  As my first post in this series I will be decorating the entryway with a colorful collegiate wreath and doormat.

Wreath Supplies:

  • Styrofoam Ring
  • Felt
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Wreath Flowers:
  • Needle and thread
  • Decorative Buttons

I purchased my Styrofoam rings from Amazon.  The size for this wreath was 3-1/2 inches.  OR you can cut your own wreath using an Exacto knife and a 1 inch thick sheet of Styrofoam.  Cut stripes of felt and hot glue around the ring.  Make the width and pattern whatever your creativity desires.  I varied the widths of felt on this wreath.  I glued a felt backing once completed to hide any showing glue.

The Felt flowers are made from a rectangle of felt.  Fold in half.  Place a running stitch along the open edges.  Leave a long thread strand on each end.  Then cut slits in the felt cutting half way through the fold.  Pull the strands and tie together to form your flower.  Repeat in desired layers and sizes.  Top off with a colorful bead or button.  Not only is September the start of football season it is also Childhood Cancer Awareness which is represented by a gold ribbon on this wreath.

You can make an entryway mat by finding a mat picture on the internet.  Print it off in the size you desire.  You can do this in Microsoft word or a photo program.  Cut out the picture and glue to a foam backing.  Don’t forget to add a tap light overhead!  Another decorative touch could be a window box from a recycled box or other container; fill with seasonal flowers.

Entryway was built by Payne Street Doll Boutique.
