When my daughters and I initially decorated the dollhouse dining room we used a chandelier locker light for the lighting in this room. As time went on with doll play my daughters complained that the chandelier locker light “was in the way.” The chandelier was frequently getting bumped about while arranging the dolls around the table. I was disappointed because the chandelier looked so cute in the space, but I had to admit that it was interfering with the function of the space. One day I had found that my daughters had removed the table from the room completely to seat their dolls around the table. Hmmm…I had to come up with a solution!
First, I wanted to create new lighting with a lower profile that still had some bling! I found stringed jewels from Bead Landing; this was purchased in the jewelry section of Michaels (Darice Bling on a Roll works, too). I hot glued the ribbon of jewels around a basic tap light. That’s it…you’re done!
I love how these chandeliers turned out! We decided to go with two in the room for added brightness.
I decided to add a 12 inch floor extension to the dining room. This way the table can be positioned outward instead of horizontally, giving my daughters more room to get to the chairs around the table. The extension slides into place and sits against the main dollhouse floor. This extension can easily be removed and stored when not in use. My daughters liked the table positioned the new way that they decided to leave the floor extension in permanently.
