Happy Friday! Like last week, Karen’s Friday doll craft post and a doll day of play are being combined because I am enjoying some time off and vacationing with my family. On a side note, I can not believe we are down to the last 30 days of doll play!! I still have some great ideas coming up that you are going to love.
I am so excited to share with you today’s post. I had so much fun creating today’s Stylish Places to Sit and I hope you are going to be just as excited to create your own.
To create your own Stylish Places to Sit for your dolls you will need:
- boxes ( I used one Shoe box for the Sofa and one mailing box size 8 1/4X 5 X 31/2 inches for the Arm Chair)
- 6 toilet tissue tubes ( these become the Sofa and Chair arms)
- Tape
- Packing Tape or Patterned Duck tape
- Scissors
- A pen
- A ruler
- *Scrap Cardboard (optional)
- * YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE DUCK TAPE FOR THIS CRAFT – You could paint yours, or cover it in wrapping paper or even fabric and if you wanted to make it durable you could use clear packing tape over the paper.
Step one- Create the shape of your sofa and chair by bending back your box as shown and taping the lid in place as shown in the photos above. If you are also making the arm chair repeat this on the box you will use for your armchair.
Step two- If you want to make the back of your sofa higher you can use a scrap piece of cardboard, measure and cut out to the height and shape you would like and slide it into place. In the end I did not use mine but it is an option you may like to do.
Step three- Tape two toilet tissue tubes together as shown to create the arm rests of your chair, repeat for the other side. If you wish to create a scalloped edge for the top of your couch you can cut it out as shown. This would work well if you are going to paint your box.
Step four- Cover your box and arm rests with the tape as shown, or if you are using wrapping paper wrap your box and arm rests. Then tape your arm rests into place with clear tape. If you are painting your box, paint all the pieces let them dry then assemble them as shown and tape into place.
Step five- Once covered let your doll have a seat while you assemble the other seat using the same directions you used to create the first one.
Step six- Have your dolls enjoy your new Stylish Seats !
I hope you enjoyed today’s craft and that you will be inspired to use items you already have at home to create great doll play accessories for your dolls.

And this is an awesome craft. Karen, where did you get that duct tape?
Alicen – look at the dollar store, Target, Walmart, the hardware store – just about everywhere is carrying duct tape in fun patterns these days.
That’s so cool!
To make the couch longer, line up two shoeboxes and follow the directions above
SECONDIE! Cute craft!

how much longer does your vacation last, Char? Oh and are you going to do another Ivy’s vacation adventure part?
This is really cool you are so creative Karen.

Neat craft! All I need is duck tape and toilet paper rolls!
Remember you can use wrapping paper too! I got my tape at Micheal’s the Craft store but I saw them at Target, Walmart and the dollar store. I am thrilled you like today’s craft!
love this!
I know this is really off topic, but Char I know you have the Maplea girl Taryn. I was thinking that she would make a good addition to my doll family since she is an explorer and I have a club called the explorer club. Do you reccommend her?
When I get a properly sized box and more duct tabe I will make this.
That is so cute! I have the journey girls ski lodge living room set that comes with 2 chairs but I have 3 dolls (and I’m planning on getting a fourth) so a sofa would be great (so they could all enjoy the living room)
I love this craft!!!!
So cute! Thanks, Karen, you have a way with the duct tape!
Adorable!
cute! but it looks hard to do

gymnast caitlin, I promise you it is not hard to do at all. If you can use tape then you can easily make these. I promise. Even my 4 year old helped hold the tape!
