Did you watch the Women’s Team Competition in gymnastics last night on the Olympics? What did you think? I was very proud of how Team USA performed! For today’s doll play activity recreate a medal ceremony for your favorite sport. It’s easy to make a podium and medals are a piece of cake, too.
Earlier this year I made an awards podium for our dolls from American Girl doll boxes. You can make the podium easily using whatever boxes you happen to have around. For complete details on how to make this and the printable numbers for the placements visit my post on how to make an awards podium.
Here is McKenna listening to the National Anthem during the Medal Ceremony. To make her gold medal, simply do a Google image search for “2012 London Olympics gold medal” and print out the image you like. Cut out the medal and then thread a wide piece of ribbon through the medal and tie around your doll’s neck. Sing the National Anthem with your doll and be sure to have your camera on hand to take lots of photos of your gold medal girl!
Have a great day! More posts to come today including Wilde Wednesday.

Yes, you can make whichever ones you want
Love it! You are so creative!
Char, I don’t know if you already decided, but I think Back to School would be a cool theme for the August Reader Photo Event.
Delaney-thats a good idea!
Cute!
Char will you do more crafts for back to school for doll?
I am asking because my doll want to go to school
super cute!
OMG! I was calling it Dollympics even before I saw this!
I love how you did McKenna’s hair, it reminds me of how McKayla Maroney wore her hair
Madison, yes, plenty of back-to-school items are coming up.
My favorite bit about the gymnastics last night was when Aly (I always forget her last name!) was doing the floor excersise, and began to cry because she KNEW that she had just made her team win gold!
Team USA did awsome!
I thought Gabby was really good and I thouht McKayla (or was it Kayla? I get them two mixed up) Did really good on Vault. I felt kind of sorry for Russia, When they were crying when USA won. And when one of them messed up on floor.
Erica-Yea anastasia messed up…
I was so proud of the USA team last night! McKayla’s vault was amazing! And so was Jordyn Weiber’s floor routine! And Gabby did great on everything!
Cool
Elise- me too!!
Where did you get those leotards?
The purple leotards are retired American Girl.
Char-Which post is the one that your daughters or a reader made a video of McKenna? It’s the doll on her bar with the grips and someone is behind her moving the doll, explaining what tricks McKenna is doing. I want to show the video to my lil sister
