Happy Canada Day! Today’s post is dedicated to my two favorite Canadians – Karen our Friday Craft Queen and my good friend Marny. Of course our models today are Canadian – Maplelea Girls Taryn and Saila and today’s printable includes a Canadian flag and a pretty tough word puzzle – but I know you are up to the task.
Taryn and Saila are in front of the Ice Cream Shoppe waiting for the Parade to start! Taryn is wearing the dress and shoes from a MyPinkPlanet Red Riding Hood outfit and Saila is wearing a top and shorts from Journey Girls. The Journey Girls are slimmer than Maplelea Dolls so the shorts are a little snug on Saila’s rear end.
This is one of my favorite photos ever of our Maplelea Girls Taryn and Saila. I wonder what they are talking about?
Today’s printable includes the template for the Canadian flag. Just make sure when you cut it out that you leave the two flags together as one piece so you can fold the toothpick in for a handle easily. I also made you a scramble puzzle based on all the Canadian Provinces. You might need a grown up for help or a Canadian map, but it is not impossible.

Are your dolls celebrating Canada Day? Even if they aren’t, you should drop by Karen’s and leave her a note telling her Happy Canada Day and how much you appreciate her crafts every Friday.

Again, I LOVE Rebecca!!!!!!! I would be very very sad if they retired her! And I agree, that there is no proof, and it may not be true. But I have heard lots and lots of things about Rebecca, barely any good. I really hope they don’t, because I love her face mold! Hardly any dolls have that face mold! It’s my fav. Face mold! I can’t see why a lot of people don’t like her, but it’s true. There are lots and lots of blogs that say horrible things about Rebecca. Maybe AG reads them, idk. All this is just FYI.
But if Rebecca is not selling as well as planned, then Mattel will retire her. Again, because they didn’t make as much MONEY as planned. Mattel doesn’t care about the little girls who think that they shouldn’t retire them. No, they don’t care!!!!! It’s all about the money! Money money money! That’s it!
Sorry, I tend to rant a lot about Mattel. I really don’t like Mattel. But I love AG.
the are maybe redoing covers OR maybe they are getting rid of hardcover not paperback!!
Again i toddly aggre with you agisthebest!!! it just all about the money money money money!!!!!!
Rebecca is not archiving next. The books that are on sale are HARDCOVER, and those are less profitable so they sell them for a few years then retire them. The coat is being retired because other than the PJs, the clothes for girls ALWAYS retire after a while.
Lena, still! You never know. Mattel is a horribly greedy with money. Rebecca is not selling as well as planned. I went to the AG store in Dallas on Thursday, and there was this one girl that said: “Ewww, look at that horrible doll!” and she was pointing to REBECCA! You never know, Lena! I mean, I may be wrong, and you may be wrong!!!!!!! I don’t think for one minute that Molly is going to retire. Too many people BUY Molly. That means more MONEY. All they care about is MONEY, Lena! Money! If a doll isn’t selling well, then they will retire her. They get more money if they retire a doll that is unpopular than if they kept her. Why, you ask? People ( mostly collectors) think, oh no! She’s going to retire! We must bye her! They get MORE MONEY. that’s all they care about, Lena. Nobody is perfect, Lena! All Mattel wants is money. I just got Mckenna. I am noticing cheap differences. McKenna won’t stand near as good as anyone else. They’re making the dolls CHEAP. why? For the MONEY!!!!!!!
Agisthebest – I highly doubt Rebecca is retiring – she is too new. Mattel spent WAY TOO MUCH money developing her for them to retire her so soon. My bet is on Molly. She is one of the original three dolls – Samantha & Kirsten were the other, too – and if they retire Molly they leave themselves a nice block of history (1934-1974) to add a new historical character into. That is my opinion.
Yes that is a very good point. I really have my suspicions, but if a doll isn’t selling well, then they might not keep her. I really do think Molly MIGHT retire, but I think they might want to keep Molly as the only available doll that was one of the first 3. You know, a special doll. But I’m not sure, and I don’t want to become enemys with anyone on here because I love all of you!
Sam sold well. Felicity sold well.
Molly’s cothes look very much like 50s clothes (they didn’t change much until the mid 60s), and archiving her would likley lead to a 50s doll, which judging from the Caroline speculation, would be very popular with the target age group.
Lena yes, I am aware. But still. I think Mattel would like to have one of the originals. And plus, they hardly have any read headed dolls! I am aware that Caroline will most likely be a read head, but that’s not enough. I am very aware that the chances are slim with Rebecca, but really, they have to retire someone, as that’s Mattels nature.
And don’t get me wrong, the fifties were a very interesting time! I would love a fifties doll! But I really don’t think Molly will retire.
and i am hoping and praying that Rebecca wont retire! shes one of the prettiest!
I’m with Char, Molly will (sadly) most likely be next. She may sell well, and that’s in my opinion one reason they retire them. These dolls have been loved for a long time, and of they are popular people will rush to buy the collection while they can. If a doll isn’t popular, or hasn’t had enough time to be sentimental for a LOT (twenty something years worth) of people. Not trying to be mean Agisthebest, you very well could be right. I’m just saying it’s not likely.
I mean if a doll isn’t popular it prob won’t retire. I could be wrong though, they do love money.
thank you people for agreeing with me how many dolls retired 5 how many dolls have been brought out since then
Oh Emma yeah you are probably right. Molly has been loved, but for some reason I’m just trying to push that thought out of my mind cause I love Molly the most. I know Molly will soon retire, and that Rebecca probably won’t as she’s so new. And you aren’t being rude or mean at all, as everyone has their own way of speaking, and I am beginning to come back on this side, because I don’t think Beckie will retire anymore. And Char’s right, it would make a good gap if they retired Molly, for a new historical, which would be good. I can understand what you mean Lena, as they always retire the girls apparel. And they were hardcover, so I understand. I was wrong and you’ll we’re right, and I am glad in away. Molly has had a long, long life. Becca, on the other hand hasn’t, and I guess it’s time that Molly goes. And, thanks for putting up with my ranting everyone, as intend to rant a lot about Mattel as I really don’t like Mattel. So thanks, everyone here on Doll Diaries, for puting up with my crazy questions and weird ideas. I tend to do crazy things, as I am very, very weird.( as my friends say.) I have made a lot of friends on Doll Diaries, even though I have never met you all. So thanks, and I hope everyone forgives me for all my weird ideas and questions. Thanks everybody! Thanks, Agisthebest

I am do glad that everyone on here is so nice! Thanks!
Weird and proud of it.
