Great things happen when you dream big! For example, I had no idea where the 100 Days of Doll Play would take me, but it has been a journey that has pushed me creatively and has brought so much joy to doll lovers all over the globe. I am just so glad I took my own challenge. And for today’s doll play sponsor, MyDollsLife.com, the product we are featuring of theirs below is also the result of dreaming big. The team at MyDollsLife.com and Sophia’s have been working on it for years, and guess what? YOU get to see it before ANYONE else does. Yep, it’s not even on their website yet! It is making its big debut right here.
There is a printable at the bottom of the post, but first, get inspired by Carly and don’t forget to DREAM BIG!
The backdrop and inspiration for today’s doll play comes from the brand new (yes, YOU are seeing it FIRST) Reversible Play Scene set from Sophia’s. The tri-fold backdrop has a bedroom scene on one side and you’ll have to scroll down through the rest of the photos to see what is on the back. It folds flat for storage and I love that the floor is also reversible and separate from the walls to allow for use in both directions (it also makes a great photo background). Carly, an 18″ Sophia’s doll, is our model today.
Meet Carly, she is a girl with big dreams. She dreams of being a fashion designer one day and spends her time thinking, designing, sewing and perfecting her fashions. Right now she is working on some new designs. You can find the mini printable paper dolls and fashions at the bottom of the post.
“What material should I use for these dresses? Who will I get for my models?” thought Carly.
Carly gets dressed and pulls out her sewing machine. It’s time to get some of these designs out of my head and turn them into outfits.
“Let’s see if the blues in this print work with the blue in the tank top…” thought Carly to herself.
“Oh yes, that will definitely work!” Carly said outloud.
Carly got a phone call from a local theater saying that they were putting on a fashion show featuring up and coming designers and had heard that she was fantastic. When Carly stepped out on the stage to introduce her fashions she almost couldn’t believe it was real! All the hard work, all they late nights thinking and sketching, all the days in her studio sewing away, they were all worth it!
So you can see that the reverse of the bedroom scene is a stage – perfect for playing theater, fashion show, rock band, and so many other creative ideas. I turned the floor to look more like a runway for this scene. You can have the walls in close or wide depending on the scene you want to set up.
The music starts and Carly introduces her models and describes each outfit to the audience. Her models are Ellowyne Wilde dolls in case you weren’t sure.
As the fashion show concludes, the audience and the models give Carly a standing ovation!! Congratulations Carly – you dared to dream big and your hard work is now being rewarded!
Feeling creative now? Design your own fashions with the paper dolls free to download at MyDollsLife.com (click here to go straight to the Paper Dolls page). I took the My Dolls Life paper dolls and made them in to minis – perfect for your dolls to do a little fashion designing of their own!
