Doll of the Day – A Girl for All Time Matilda

A Girl for All Time Matilda

In celebration of two really, really big announcements from our friends at British doll company A Girl for All Time, we are spotlighting the first doll in their series, Matilda, Your Tudor Girl. Matilda is a sweet and thoughtful girl who thinks her life in Tudor times, is well, boring. She feels that way until she is whisked off to to be a lady-in-waiting at King Henry VIII’s court. She is drawn in to the glamour of the court, but things are not always as glamorous as they appear.

A Girl for All Time Matilda

Wait a moment, you say? What are those two BIG announcements from A Girl for All Time? Well, the first one is that they will now be stocked at the famous Harrod’s Toy Kingdom and they will be having a launch weekend celebration May 11 & 12. So, if you just happen to be “in the area” stop by and help them celebrate!

So exciting!! Well done to the whole A Girl for All Time team!

A Girl for All Time Matilda

Matilda is looking mysterious in her gorgeous green ballgown. I am not sure what shade of green to call this but it is over the top gorgeous! The white satin insets, pearl beaded trim and the light purple velvet ribbon are just so rich feeling.  And while many of you may think Matilda looks somber or sad, really she is just a serious girl who is always thinking and would happily be found under the pear tree writing in her journal.

A Girl for All Time Matilda

Oh no, I forgot to tell you the rest of the good news for A Girl for All Time! If you happen to be in FAO Schwarz in New York City, look for Matilda, Amelia and the newest doll in the series, Clementine, who should be making her photo debut in the near future on Doll Diaries.

If you have an interest in English history and want to experience it through the eyes of a 12-13 year old girl of the time period, I highly recommend the A Girl for All Time books and dolls. The stories will leave you on the edge of your seat and you will feel transported back in time.

  33. Christine says:

Beautiful doll… I love her face.

  34. Char says:

Cindylu – The best part about my job is being able to share dolls of all different styles, sizes and stories with my readers. What appeals to you, may not appeal to someone else. As I look around my doll room, the faces are as diverse and beautiful as the faces in a real community.

  35. Heather Leabman says:

I wish I would have seen Matilda before Marie-Grace. I really love the shape of her face.

I am interested in Clementine, but cannot commit until I see GOTY 2014. We have 9 My Twinns now ( I found a vintage one of my mother that looked exactly like her! So cool!) However, the company has scaled back on basics like shoes, accessories, clothing, etc. So, although they are my favorite brand of doll, I may be forced to move on. Clementine just may be the dolly I need to meet. I love this series of dolls so far . . .

(Been very ill and absent for a while, but slowly on the mend ;-)

  36. Cindylu says:

You’re right on about doll diversity. I collected antique dolls for years and then several years ago I fell in love with modern ones . I started collecting American girl dolls when they first came out and I have an extensive collection. I have become disenchanted with them because of how Mattel has “dumbed” them down. I quess I just like pretty faces . I’m sorry if I tend to be too critical !!!!!!

  37. Agnieszka says:

I love Matilda! She has such a nice, sensitive face that when you look at her you have the impression that she really feels and thinks.

  38. Deanna says:

SHE IS SO PRETTY, DARN IT NOW I WANT HER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. sabrina says:

I like Matilda. She’s pretty and so is her dress she is wearing.

  40. Amy says:

Matilda is lovely. Do you think there will be preorders for Clementine?

  41. cordelia says:

Thank you for these gorgeous pictures. I am quite fascinated with these dolls and what I know of their stories. I’m not likely to ever have one, but am eager to see them “in person” and then one never knows. That is great news that they will be available at Harrod’s and FAO Schwarz; not that I really need another reason to want to spend time in either London, England or New York, but seeing these dolls would be icing on the cake!

  42. I should really stop reading here I want all the dolls that you put on the doll of the day at first I thought she was ugly but now I love her Christmas here I come. :p

  43. I just love the long nose that makes her features stand out and how loving she looks. I LOVE HER!

  44. Madison says:

my goodness she is sooooooooo cute! :} I totally can agree with you June. :)

  45. Lori says:

Ooh, Clementine’s a redhead? Interested! I didn’t buy Amelia, even though I love my Matilda to pieces, but I’m definitely following this line closely to see the newbies.

I have almost all my dolls packed up right now, because we’re driving out tomorrow morning to move to Florida (from Buffalo, New York), but Matilda is still out and will be traveling in the car with me because I just couldn’t bear to pack away that gorgeous, unique face. She’s fantastic!

  46. Char says:

Lori – safe travels – I am sure Matilda will love the adventure.
